I carry a pistol as well, but.... Why most of you are always so reliant on guns??? Men today are so afraid to scrap. Most of you would pull out for someone putting up there dukes... Sounds real cowardly to me. Fighting builds character. You win some you lose some.

My piece will only come out with eminent danger present. If you can't tell what that is or when it's going to occur? Stay home....

Too many cowards these days.

I'm terrified of a fistfight these days. All it takes is for one of the participants to fall and hit their head and it goes from a fistfight to serious felony charges.

not in a stand your ground state.... But I lived in new York all my life where fighting is illegal. But I fought anyone who had the urge to try me... Cops come.? You stay quiet and walk away. No one talks? It's not worth I t to the cops. I'm older now so I don't come across that type often. But I'd scrap with any guy that wants to be a man about it. We both live to see the next day. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. But you can walk away as men and at least respect the guy for holding h is own. Win or lose.

Eh, it's always a crapshoot there. If you're using your fists it's because you do not have a reasonable fear of loss of life, so you don't have a lot of the protections of self defense laws. If someone dies under those circumstances, it could get legally iffy. Not to mention civil liability. I'll pass on the fisticuffs unless the other guy agrees to sign a waiver and hold harmless agreement, and we have some grass to fight on. Parking lot concrete is unforgiving.

All of that is assuming it's a one on one altercation. In a world absent of legal repercussions, let's go. If it's me vs. you and all of your friends we have a different situation that fits the definition of "reasonable fear of loss of life" very cleanly.

That being said, I'm not one to advocate using a gun. I've got them, I shoot competitively, carry daily and will not hesitate if my safety or that of my family is threatened. But a lot of people here seem to misunderstand when to use it. If mine comes out it's because I think I'm about to be killed. That's it.

Default Luckiest Man ?

Guns have a strange power on ones mind. I'm all for protection and our rights. My wife has one in her car. But, there are way too many people dead or in jail because a pistol was conveniently close by. I'd rather take an *** whipping than go to jail for a very long time. And put my family thru it.

That's the damn truth. They'd use me as currency in jail.

I've had my *** whipped before, and it'll happen again sometime I'm sure. It's not the worst thing in the world. It's actually an important part of life. You learn a lot getting your *** kicked. I think that's why women will do or say some **** a man wouldn't consider because it would get your *** beat, and women are apparently exempt from that type of consequence.

c'mon guys, really? Sounds a bit immature, no? I have to fight in order to be a man? What century are we in right now? I did have some smaller fights back in HS and college, but please, it takes a bigger man to just walk away rather than get into a fist fight and pissing mach, at least I am confident enough about myself to see it's not worth feeling unnecessary pain. Anyway...just my humble opinion, maybe I'm too old for that teeny crap!

My Father, who's now 78, said in the service they'd get to port, all get drunk, and then just fight for the fun of it, he said the best thing was to get your back in a corner and go at it. He said no one would try to kill you, no one pulled a knife, it was just good drunken fun. Crazy.

I carry a .40 and last time I recall having a crazy **** leave his car amd come at me in the middle of the road I pointed it at his dome. I'm sure he never had that problem again. This was about 2 years back. Silly people. Tricks are for kids.

Cowardly? I have a lot to lose if I have significant damage done to my eyes or a bad head injury. My career is over. I'd rather not risk that. If someone wants to do physical harm to myself, family, or a friend, yeah they will have a Glock pointed at their face. I'm not going to fight someone like it's freaking high school because you never know which sick b@stard you're going to encounter. Besides, caring a gun when going through Atlanta at night and alone on an almost daily basis makes me feel a lot better.

I'm not saying lets pull a gun every time something makes me nervous. I am saying I will pull a gun if I feel like my well-being is being threatened. A very unlikely scenario because I avoid any such confrontations like the plague but you never know.

No one is saying don't walk away.... That is the best thing to do. Fighting can be immature but.... There are situations where someone won't let you walk away. Bully types. And sometimes the best medicine is to kick his fvckin azz... Bullying doesn't happen to kids only. But things like pulling out a gun to a fistfight and verbally arousing a situation to escalate then running away is about the most immature thing you can do and it's unreasonable. Keep ya trap shut and walk away or step into the arena with reasonable force.

I think people who play your card are just deathly afraid to fight and the walk away/mature speech quells your fear by stressing the mature factor of avoiding confrontation. And I don't think it's cowardly to be afraid to fight either... That's not you. That's respectable.... But it's not immature to teach an adult bully a lesson via the fists either. That's the only way bullies learn sometimes. While I agree your method is the best possible solution. I think I'd still rather pop a loudmouth in the mouth and teach him a lesson than shoot him in the face and end his life.

But again. At my age most don't try anymore anyway. I just see a cowardly and casual pattern of conversation on here when it comes to firearms use. Which is way more immature than just duking it out.

The best thing to do is just be respectful and avoid confrontation. With respect as a first rule. You almost never have to worry about raising your fists or shooting people for minor arguments getting outta control.

defending your family and self preservation is a whole different world than pulling out in a traffic dispute cuz one is irate. Drive off... Your ORIGINAL example of pulling out was cowardly. What you're saying now is different.
