I'm semi-pissed because they drove the car for 4 miles afterwards. Tried finding out why they needed to do a test drive for these 2 things and didn't get a straight answer. They also are saying that I now need new rear tires when my car has just 15k miles and I never really drive it hard. They just happen to have a gently used set in stock that I could get at discount.

Trying to find out if it's normal for them to do a test drive after doing the steering lock replacement?

no need for test drive. but did they damage anything? if not, i would let it go.

if you got 15K miles off your stock RE050A's that is usually i get no more than 8K miles on summer tires.

Agreed. I got 5k miles out of my rears before they were garbage. RWD cars are notorious for chewing up the rears. 10k is about normal, 15k is good, 20k is a retired veteran driving

... 4 miles... 4...
If it was 40, yeah, I'd be pissed, 4 is nothing...

And just because they say you need tires doesn't mean you NEED them... And they aren't your mom, do whatever YOU want

Oh, and you've gotta be a sucker to buy tires from a dealershit

I don't think anything is damaged, but haven't had a chance to go over the car yet. I will check everything out tomorrow when I have more time just to make sure.

Glad to hear that my tires are doing good. I haven't really had a chance to drive it hard since I've owned it so figured the wear should still be okay. (I probably need to change that this summer.)

Thanks guys...just a little over protective I guess.

My last 3 service sheets.
Sheet one. tires marked in the yellow box
Sheet two. Tires marked in the green
Sheet 3. Fronts were green, rear was yellow.

Obviously, the guy doing sheet one was a moron. Some of these guys don't know the difference between an all-season and a summer tire.

Btw, on the tires, I had mine flip flopped
Inside tread was 2/32nds, outside was 5-6, now the inside is 5-6, and the outside is 2

Prolongs your overall tire life

I'd be super mad if I know they did 4 miles on burn out and donuts just for the fun and came back to tell you that you need rear tires.

Otherwise I'd let it go.

If you are talking about the RE-050A, dismounting them and then switching the tires side to side (i.e. the left tire is now on the right side) , this is a very bad idea. Performance tires, including this one, have an "inside" and "outside". By swapping them side to side, even if you un-mount and remount to keep the same rotational direction, you now have both tires running "inside-out" and you will have handling issues.

Enough of that -- good luck!!!

It reminds me of my Dad chastising me when I was rebuilding my first Datsun head (a 510) and I was trying to save a few bucks by reusing a gasket or two. "False economy" he called it.
