Default Love, hate, heartbreak

This is a FULL story to my experiences with my previous Nissan Maxima, and on to my current car...
The only one you need to read if you want to know about my current issues is the 4th post...

Oh, and this is my biggest current issue: Problems Starting ;-(
And my car is a 2009 7AT, sport, touring, with <32k miles

It is VERY long, and sorry mods if this should be in the "Gallery" section, I don't really intend to do a build thread or anything...

Dealership names will be partially blocked and so will service guy's names

Man, oh man, where to begin.

Background info on me/moving to TX/car choices:
( Click to show/hide )
I was born in Canadia and raised in Los Angeles.
Somewhere down the line of living at home for almost 21 years I got sick and tired of living at home and I decided to move out and live with my brother in Houston and go back to school.

I had a few choices (me and my brother split two cars, the other car I already chose (a 2008 Lexus ISF that had 4800 miles):

Take my POS 2001 Toyota Avalon with me.
Buy a pre owned car
Buy one of my other two loves. A DeLorean or a Supra.

I thought to myself, what happens if my car breaks down, I’ll have to rent a car, or then go and drive my brother to work and use that car to go to school… (And MY car people were back here in CA)
So I chose a pre-owned car WITH a warranty.

Choices there:
2008+Toyota Avalon (I can only assume I like it because it’s the size/comfort of an S-class, but still 90% of the reliability of a Toyota [It’s made in America, so not 100%])
2009+Nissan Maxima

Choosing the first Nissan:
( Click to show/hide )
I chose a 2009 Maxima because it was a LOT faster than the Avalon.
Here’s it the day I bought it
( Click to show/hide )

It was a base arse model S, no leather, no nav, no Bose, no fog lights, no nothing.
It had… 30k miles, certified pre owned (new tires and brakes) for $20,600.
I also knew it was an Enterprise Rental Car.

It is also where my love of warranties came from:
( Click to show/hide )
I decided that because I was a student and I didn’t know any people in TX to fix my car, it’s best to get an extended warranty because the dealer will fix my car, AND I’ll get a loaner car (rentals at 20-21 cost an arm and a leg). I also got an oil change contract.
Anyways, THANK GOD I did this.

By the time the car reached TX, the driver’s seat felt like it was missing a bolt, the seat would “click” backwards during acceleration and come back during braking.

This is where I found ***** ***** in Houston, TX and then found MY service guy, *** (he no longer works there).
This was a $3000 fix, and I had a loaner for 5 days. They fixed it by replacing the seat base.
The issue was lessened, but it was back, exactly the same in a few weeks… F*CK… Another trip to the dealer and another $3K fix, and my problems were over.

Reasons to have a good dealer/the Max's mods
( Click to show/hide )
Fortunately, I had become friends with *** and other’s at the dealership.
I bought an eBay spoiler, and had the dealer install it for $75 under the table.
I bought some factory painted from Nissan and that dealership for $75 (I had the cheapest color for some reason…)
And they installed them under the table for the cost of the installer’s diet coke, so 50 cents. LOL

I installed a K&N intake myself,
( Click to show/hide )

and I had Mike and the guys at NST install a RacingLine cat delete y-pipe (the Maxima has 3 cats, the third in the y-pipe.)

So, fast forward a bit, I get some Katzkin leather from eBay (AMAZING STUFF btw) $475 shipped, installed for $250 (needed some modification to look 100% flush, and I’m happy I didn’t do it myself)
I installed some fog lights, and had my radar detector hard wired, and tint installed all at the same place

Fast forward a bit more, I had some BS issues like the suspension rattling/squeaking, doors rattling, and the windows making some odd noises.
(Not sure if all of you have driven a CVT, but if you’re in D, you floor it, and it HOLDS a certain RPM, in a Maxima the redline is 6800RPM, and it usually hold a bit lower)
I also had the strange issue of my car HOLDING 7300RPM while flooring it.
With the intake and cat delete, I once passed a Camaro on the freeway (both had our windows down) and right when I passed him, I heard him yell “What the f*ck is in that thing?!?!?!”

So I told *** that, took the car in and they replaced 3 struts, 3 window motors and regulators, 2 motor mounts, and one transmission mount. He also told me to come back at 60k miles and that they would “fix my transmission” by putting a new one in, LOL!!!!!!

Next Maxima problem:
( Click to show/hide )
Fast forward a bit more I had an issue with my car locking into park and I’d get the ABS and slip light. Took the car back, told him that I was moving to Dallas, he said no problem, take this Nissan Cube (HATEFUL car, SUCH A POS) to Dallas, come back in a week.

The accident:
( Click to show/hide )
Came back a week later, they replaced some parts, but they said everything worked ok… They just did the fixes preventatively…
I left the dealer… got into an accident… Not too bad, I hit the tow hitch of a truck on the freeway, but it was in rush hour traffic, so it wasn’t bad, my car took the brunt of the damage, correction, 100% of the damage.
Pics:
( Click to show/hide )

Texted *** and called him, and like a TRUE good person, he didn’t give a **** about the car, he asked if I WAS OK, and if I needed an ambulance and/or a tow. (I realize this is what any dealership should do, but I had become friends with him, so I knew this was out of care, not to cover his ***.)
I declined, and just said that it felt like there was a bubble in the line… And that I would bring the car back after I did some stuff.

Brought the car back, he said take our Maxima to Dallas, can you be back in 4 days? No problem, came back. They couldn’t diagnose anything, but they flushed my brake fluid.
He said if ever I get any other problems, call him back. No problem.

Problem again/first call to corporate:
( Click to show/hide )
I go back to Dallas, all is well. Go to school, and when I was leaving, SHITE the car is stuck in park again!!! So I take it to my local dealer after talking to ***, and this POS, (forgot his name) at Bankston Nissan… PLEASE NEVER GO THERE
He stated that something was connected to the main wiring harness of the car. He said it is ruining the “ohmage” of the car. He said they will continue to look into it.
I get a call saying that it’s my foglights…
Sounded like BULL to me. And I then started my calls to Nissan Corporate. Got bumped up the line of corporate people and got ahold of Charles ****** (smart guy)
He said, I doubt your installers were stupid enough to hook into your main wiring harness for FOG LIGHTS. And he asked me to take my car to those guys, or at least ask them what they did.
I then got a call from the dealer saying that for $400 they could redo the wiring… F*CK THAT…
Called Charles again, and he asked the name of the guy, he called the dealership and then called me back and said, “go pick up your car, that service advisor no longer works at the dealership. ‘Ohmage’ isn’t a damn word, we cannot have people working at dealerships who are out to screw customers.”
AWESOME!!! LOL

The fix:
( Click to show/hide )
Took it to my installer in Houston. He said, “look, there’s SOMETHING installed to your wiring harness. It isn’t the lights or the wiring for your 4th brake light…”
He looked into it and asked if I had a GPS tracker installed, and I said no, but the car WAS a rental. And he said “We install trackers all the time, but this thing is more than I have seen, this is over a $1000 system, it is wired to shut the engine off, prevent the car from starting, it will lock the doors, and roll the windows up… Maybe you’re high risk and Nissan or your bank put the tracker in because you were high risk?”

Oh, SH*T… Call Charles at corporate, he looks into it, and as he’s doing that, I tell the installers to connect my fog lights and radar detector DIRECTLY to the battery, and to rip all that GPS crap out of the car.
Charles tells me that no one at Nissan or Chase Bank (finance company AMAZING as well.)

Great have all the sh*t ripped out, and I had the 3rd brake light’s wiring disconnected so that the 4th brake light would use that wiring ONLY. I left, and no issues!
But Charles instructed me to drive carefully to the Houston dealership, and he told the dealership to replace the brake master cylinder. After a trip to Dallas and back with their Maxima, the service manager took me on a drive with their loaner Maxima and my Maxima, both times slamming on the brakes to show the braking difference, my car was worse, but not by much.

A month or so go by, no issues really. And Charles closed the case, no problem, I called him every two weeks or so to shoot the sh*t because the guy was SUCH a great guy.

Accident number 2:
( Click to show/hide )
But I came back to Houston, and I was driving around at low speed (traffic at the Galleria Mall), hit the brakes… **** MY LIFE… I hit another person, literally at 2MPH…
LUCKILY the guy was visiting and it was a rental minivan and it only left a SLIGHT paint dimple. Gave the guy ALL my info, and he said, don’t worry, I don’t think they will worry about it, but if they do, I’ll give you a call or shoot you a text.
Luckily when the guy left, he said the rental company didn’t car because the damage was smaller than a golf ball. SWEEEEEEEEET.

Corporate call again/reopened my case:
( Click to show/hide )
I call Charles, tell him what happened, and said look, this isn’t safe, what happens if I slam on the brakes at 70MPH and they don’t work? I’m putting myself and others in harm’s way…
He agreed, said he was sorry, reopened the case and that they’ll have a regional corporate mechanic come out to look over my car, and I asked for a mechanic from Tennessee to come out, and Charles said he would do that, no problem.

A few days later, I tell him that I need to fly to Los Angeles to visit my grandfather because he is in the hospital and to hold out on the guy coming to look over my car and I’ll be leaving my car with my GF in Houston.

Death of the Maxima:
( Click to show/hide )
Monday, January 9th, 2012 (the flood):
( Click to show/hide )
Houston has a major flash flood. (I didn’t know anything about this until…) Girlfriend was at work, got an email late from her building saying that her street was prone to flooding. But by the time she got home at 7PM, she didn’t see any indication of flooding.

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 (bad news):
( Click to show/hide )
girlfriend takes my car to work (told her to take it around every few days to make sure the battery wouldn’t go flat.) She called me at 4AM, LA time, (she’s a teacher and goes to work at 6AM) and she said, there’s water in your car, when I took my laptop out of your backseat floor it was wet, and she was hysterical, she felt REALLY bad… I told her, look, don’t worry about it, it’s too damn early, I just went to bed at 2AM, just have a good day at work…
She called 2 hours later and asked what I should do, and again, I told her not to worry about it, but she felt SO BAD that she insisted she takes off work to do something. And I told her to not worry.
Another hour later, she called and said, “look, what do you want me to do, I took the day off.” Now I felt bad. And I told her to take it to a carwash to have them vacuum the water out. She called me a about 15 min later and said that there was WAY TOO much water in the car and asked what I should do.
I called ***, he was in Los Angeles visiting his family, LOL. He called the dealership, called me and told me to tell my GF see Jennifer, the girl who worked next to him and they’ll give my GF a ride home.

At first, Jennifer called me and said look, you’re at $800 of damage for the floor board or whatever, maybe you should call your insurance company. I said well, my deductible is $1000, I’ll go out of pocket, but can you wait until I get there? No problem.
I also called Charles and said WTF, is something wrong with the car that there is water IN it after a it rained really hard. He said there was a TSB for a drainage hose from the sunroof down the A-pillar and it can get clogged and drain into the car)

Wednesday (the day the sh*t really hit the fan):
( Click to show/hide )
I get a call from Keith, the service manager, he said the issue wasn’t with the A-pillar drain, he said that my GF drove the car around, and because of that, water got into the transmission or the transmission ECU or whatever and he said the water line is half way up the door, so it was actually in the flood. (He emailed my pics as well.) He said that right now we have a preliminary estimate of $8,000, and now it’s time to call my insurance. I said to hold off doing anything, and I’ll call. (It was at this point that I decided that this car NEEDS to be totaled)

Thursday (the dreaded call to insurance):
( Click to show/hide )
I called my insurance, and they said they were backed up, and I said, well, I get in tomorrow, and I am deathly allergic to mold, and I tried to BS as much as I could over the phone to make them try to push a total. The person didn’t care TOO much, and he said that an adjuster would come out in the next few days, and I asked if the adjuster could come AFTER Friday and to call me before he/she came out because I was destined to arrive Friday night and I wanted to be there when they gave the estimate.

Friday the 13th… (This is a FML date, it will have it’s own thread when I have the time):
( Click to show/hide )
When my gf picked me up she wouldn’t hug me because she thought I was pissed off because she was the reason my car got totaled, LOL!!! (But I truly wasn’t)

So, I go check out the car, I first notice that there is water on the inside of the windshield, I needed interior wipers, LOL!!!
( Click to show/hide )

It still had a lot of water in it, ALL MY .40cal bullets are GONE!!! ;-(
( Click to show/hide )

The spare tire had water to the brim as well and I saw that where the auxiliary power outlet was, had rusted and there was a waterline on all the seats. The headliner had water and the radio had water as well.
( Click to show/hide )

Video of the death:
( Click to show/hide )

Saturday, (the call I was dreading, but maybe life was looking up!):
( Click to show/hide )
I get a call from the adjuster saying that the car was declared a total loss, and I was confused for a second, LOL. He said, “I’m not supposed to tell you, but once someone calls you and gives you an offer on your car, you have TEN DAYS to find a new car before we stop paying for your rental car. So start looking NOW.”
BITCHIN’!!! I started going to TOWN looking for cars, but I didn’t have a payout figure. I assumed $20k… The trade in value at the time was around $19k and the CPO retail was $26k (GOD KNOWS WHY, because you could buy a base model for $26 if it was they had the correct incentives)

So I started looking. Maximas had gone up in price like a SOB, no more $20k base used ones (this is where I got some STUPID things from dealerships Most Stupid Thing Heard From a Nissan Dealer) And luckily they guy let me test drive a used 370Z too, but I needed to get an estimate of how much insurance was going to pay me.

Closing my case:
( Click to show/hide )
I also call Charles and said, “Well Charles… It looks like my brake problems are fixed, the car is gone, declared a total loss.” And we both share a laugh (no homo.) And he says, “Well, sorry to see your car go, and sorry it caused you so many headaches.” I laughed and said, “Well, hopefully its for the best, and as much as I enjoy talking to you, I hope to never talk to you again about any Nissan problems!” And we both laughed, I asked where I can send him a gift for being such an awesome guy.

As Bob Dylan said:
"The times they are a changin'" (for the best):

( Click to show/hide )
About a week or two later, I get a call saying that I’m getting $27k and change AFTER my $1000 decutible!!!
SWEEEEEEEETTTTTT!!!

Choosing the next car:
( Click to show/hide )
What to buy now?!?!?! Buy another Maxima? Buy my Supra? Buy a bitchin’ DeLorean? Lexus GS350, or 450h? Or buy another ISF? (Me and my brother thought another would be ridiculous, but we agreed that we’d get another IF I could get it in “Ultrasonic Blue Mica”)
Back story, me and my brother BEAT on cars, and we come from a family that keeps cars for 10 years, we have had like 10 Toyotas in a row, and no matter how hard we beat on them, they last. That’s why we (I) originally decided Lexus ISF over M3 or C63 AMG.

Anyways, didn’t find an ISF, and for the same reasons as before, I decided not to go with a DeLorean or Supra. And we kind of wanted a 2 seater, or at least a 2 door.

Which led me to… The Nissan 370Z…
(Or a G37 coupe, I always liked the G35, and the G37 was a good looking car)
I went on the prowl for both, I had 15 days to find a car (they extended my rental time), I threw every other list/car out of the window and concentrated on these 2 cars.
After looking, I saw that if I wanted the G37 used it would either be much higher mileage, or much more expensive… (I know an ISF is MUCH more expensive, but for that car, no problem with throwing down an extra $20k, just didn’t find the right one)

So, 370Z it is:
( Click to show/hide )

I didn’t know much about it besides basic HP figures and such. I had the one test drive, thought it looked much better than the 350Z.
I knew I wanted/needed the sport package, and ALL I needed was a good deal and either from a dealer who could sell me an extended warranty, and/or it had to be under the 3 year/36k warranty, I didn’t care the color or year or much else…
I was driving back from Houston to Dallas after visiting the gf, and I called every dealershit on the way…

1st contender:
( Click to show/hide )
Even though it was 2012, Tom Peacock had THREE brand new 2010 Monterey Blue roadster 370Zs with sport touring… They were about $8k off, and I hadn’t even seen a MBlue 370, LOL, I said I’d look it up, (phone was lagging because I was on the phone) so I asked him to describe the shade… He hesitated and said… “Yeahhh… It’s Smurf Blue…” I DIED LAUGHING! And after looking into it, I said look, if I buy the car, and put ZERO miles on it, the KBB trade in is a little less than you’re selling it now. And if I put 1000 miles on it, it’s over $1500 less… So that was my turn off (also, sorry MBlue roadster owners, I thought it clashed too much and was kinda ugly)

2nd, not contender:
( Click to show/hide )
I called Grapevine Nissan and got another DUMB response… (a 2008 370Z with 14k miles, and it was $18k, LOL Most Stupid Thing Heard From a Nissan Dealer)

Hey look, I'm not the only hater:
DO NOT COME TO TEXAS NISSAN OF GRAPEVINE DEALERSHIP, read my story to find out why...

3rd contender (almost the one):
( Click to show/hide )
I find a private seller in Ohio, 2009, MBlue coupe, sport, touring, 9-10k miles, Stillen G3 intake and exhaust. Seller wanted $31,500, too high. He got down to $30,500, and I still couldn’t do it. I said $29k, and I’ll be on the first plane to Ohio, cash in hand. We couldn’t agree…

I found a few more, called my buddies back in Los Angeles where I bought the Maxima, called the guy I dealt with (he had left and gone back home to Louisiana). Couldn’t find the deal I wanted.

The final blow:
( Click to show/hide )
2 weeks before my rental was up, Friday, January 27th, I call Round Rock Nissan, 30 min north of Austin. They just posted a 2009 370Z, MBlue, 7AT, sport, touring, nav, 14k miles, and every other option.
$29,977, internet price $28,877.

Hmmmmmmm… We may have our winner…
( Click to show/hide )
I call, I get Jim Hangvall, I talk to him a bit, and he said that they just received the car (true because I know it wasn’t on the website the day before.) I ask him what’s the lowest they’d go. He says look, we can ONLY take off $400, $28,477, I asked if it was certified, and he said no because it’s still under warranty, and it wasn’t worth it to the dealer to put time and money into the car… He also said that they have two people that were supposed to come and look at/buy the car the next day…

Back story:
( Click to show/hide )
I’m Iranian, and the accent an Iranian makes when they speak English is VERY noticeable. So I asked if he was Iranian (in Farsi), and he then replied in Farsi, LOL. So I told him that look, my car was totaled, I have the money, I want the car, I can’t play BS games and I’m not a BS person…

In any case, it wasn’t a bad deal, KBB trade in was around $28,300.
I called back and said, look, you certify it for $28,477, give me two keys, and we have a deal, I’ll give you my credit card info right now for a $1000 deposit to hold the keys, and if when I come to check out the car it hasn’t been painted and such, I’ll pay the rest.
He called me back in 10 minutes and he said they can certify it. LOL!!!

AWESOME!!! I’ve got my car!!! I insisted that he take my CC info, and said I’ll be at the dealership at 11AM. He KINDA blew me off and didn’t really think I’d be there.

10:47AM, I was there, I could sense he was the guy I was looking for, and HE could sense the same too. So I walked up to him, and asked “Jim?” at the same time he asked “Amin?” (Iranian name). LOL!!!

And he was still shocked that I had come down, he even said, “I thought you were pulling my chain, I didn’t think you’d be here, AND EARLY!”
Back Story:
( Click to show/hide )
Iranians are KNOWN for being late, [African Americans have CPT, we have IPT/PPT/TPT {Iranian People Time/Persian People Time/Terrorist People Time}], hell, we even gave our country a it’s own HALF TIME ZONE to account for us being late!!!

I go and look over the car, “I’ll take it, where do we do the paperwork?” No test drive, no nothing. I did take the car on a drive after Jim insisted, it was sweet, no denying it.

MINOR buying issue:
( Click to show/hide )
I did also make mention of rear tires, because the camber wear was really bad. Him and the used manager come out and say look, the tread is great… On the outside… I get a tire gauge from one of the service guys, and with all of them standing there, I measure 6/32nds on the outside, and less than 2/32nds on the inside and ask the service guy, “Would YOU recommend new tires?” And inevitably he replied “yes.”

I meet the dreaded finance guy...:
( Click to show/hide )
I meet Jim Price (SUCH AN AMAZING GUY!!!)
I shoot the **** with him. I tell him that I am a no f*ck around, no BS guy, and even Jim Hangvall said, “Yes, I didn’t even expect him to come!”
Me and Price talk, we go over all the options, go smoke a cigarette, or two… or 4… or more... We figure everything out, but we don’t finish knowing that the tire thing is still up in the air, and the dealer needs a few days to certify the car.

My old friend/I WON:
( Click to show/hide )
I go back to Dallas, and I call on my old friend Charles at corporate, I ask if a car can be sold with those tires, and what are the minimum certification specs are for everything else.
He emails me a sheet for EVERYTHING, and tells me to call the dealer’s GM about the tires.
I called the GM, left a message, and the next day Jim Hangvall called me and asked what kind of tires I wanted, LMAO!!!

The following Friday, I was at the dealership, finished the paperwork, all that was left was to wait for the tires that were supposed to arrive Saturday and to bring my $11k down payment.

Pickup:
( Click to show/hide )
Saturday was the pickup day, tires were mounted, balanced, wheels aligned, brought my $11k cash, and I got my keys.
GODDAMN I WAS HAPPY!!!

Side story:
( Click to show/hide )
Man I must have looked like SUCH a JACK*SS on the pickup day... I was wearing a BLUE shirt with BLUE jeans, and BLUE shoes. LOL!!!

I was soooooo eager to drive back to Dallas with my new car in hand/under foot!!!
( Click to show/hide )

It was dark by the time everything was set, and I was so tired, (no sleep the night before due to excitement) that I wasn’t paying attention to speed really, I just noticed that the car was noisy… Then I noticed I was going 110MPH, and I noticed that the speedo was really small, LOL! (I slowed down)
Took a nice nap at a gas station where I received some thumbs up, and that made me even happier.
Drove home, it was a good day, and I didn't have to use my AK.

(I joined the forum, and modding began after a few months)
Got a Stillen G3, and a Stillen exhaust. Mods continued as well...

DFW 370Z group:
( Click to show/hide )
I went to a DFW 370Z meet, kept going, and kept meeting new people and becoming more comfortable with them.
They TRULY became my second family. They made Dallas my second home. Just had to make that shout out

My first problem(s) arise:
( Click to show/hide )
The first “problem” to arise was that my my door would rattle like a SOB. I also needed to go from Dallas to Houston AND Austin in a single weekend.
( Click to show/hide )
Houston for the gf, Austin for my new AR15, LOL.
Just need to figure out an order…
(This is where a good dealership means a lot)
I call ***, tell him that I’m coming down to get the door checked out, and I need a rental car for a day to go to Austin to buy a gun. NOOOOOooo problem. I drive down, pick up the GF, drop my car off, drive to Austin, buy my gun, drive back, car has an extra 500 miles and he wonders where the HELL I went, and he thought I was joking about the AR15, him and the service manager check it out, LOL
They say my car would be ready the next day because they ordered a new door panel.

Next Problem:
( Click to show/hide )
Gas gauge wouldn’t show full… Call *** again, tell him what’s up, he tells me to bring him In N Out from Dallas, which I did, LOL.
They say the last LED is burnt out, and they have to special order a cluster with the correct mileage, LOL

10 days later, my car was ready, and over 1500 miles on their loaner, I had my car back with a working gas gauge, LOL

No problems for a while, but I decide to move back to CA on a whim because my grandparents are getting too old and I felt I need to be with them…

Default DO NOT COME TO Power Nissan of South Bay

This is the only one you need to read if you want to know about my current issues...

Back to CA/Problems ahead:

Finding it:
( Click to show/hide )
I find my dealership, the dealer that I didn’t think would play games, found it by texting the friend I found when I was looking to buy a Maxima about 3-4 years prior (even before I moved to TX)
They were the ONLY dealership to honor free Ester Oil changes in my car under the Nissan service contract (only 2009’s should be eligible for this)

More problems:
( Click to show/hide )
I get some other problems, things start to deteriorate, and the service advisor, Mike Garcia, just says “bring it in when you have a laundry list so that we keep your car ONCE, not 10 times, half a day at a time”

The list:
( Click to show/hide )
My small niggles such as my cruise control only working 50% of the time, and my new rattles, and my dial for the fan of the A/C not working well, turns into a laundry list…

Clunky change into 2->1 when coming to a stop
Windows hitting--->Driver door sill tearing
Driver door rattle (also mirror)
Headliner rattle
Paint bubbling
7th gear slipping
Seatbelt winder
O2 sensors (catalyst efficiency, replaced gaskets)
Gas gauge doesn't show full
Car not starting (three times)
Passenger trunk strut pops off
Aux power (passenger) shitty connection
Cruise control not working
Fan dial for A/C sucks
Car died while driving once

Appointment:
( Click to show/hide )
So I set up an appointment, get my battery tested, go in with my friend, show him the videos, shoot the ****, give him a cigar, we look over what’s covered under my extended warranty (rattles not covered and neither is the paint, SOB made me wait to bring my car in and that warranty was over now… but whatever,) and he gives me their “special car” reserved for GTR customers. A fully loaded Maxima. Signed the paperwork, and I left the dealership.

My mistake:
( Click to show/hide )
The car isn’t clean, has 1/8th of a tank of gas, we get in, notice this really off smell, like your grandmother’s house, whatever… We go to Costco, a 30 second drive, get out… My buddy notices, this MASSIVE dent on the trunk where the “Maxima” badge is. We figure f-it, I’m sure the guy noted that. And he didn’t take me on a walk around or anything, and I didn’t think the guy would screw me…

The Follow-up:
( Click to show/hide )
9 days later, I call in to see what’s up, Mike says he’s busy and with a customer, but I need a new battery, that’s all that’s wrong, he asked if I wanted one, and I said no, I’ll put my own in. And he said he’ll call me Thurday…
Fair enough… Thursday, we play phone tag. Friday I leave a message and shoot an email (he was off)
Saturday, close to the end of the day, I go in to see what’s up, Mike left early… I speak to the other service guy, and he is SHOCKED at how many problems there are. He looked into the system and said no parts were on order, but the cases are still open…

Picking up my car:
( Click to show/hide )
I come back the next day. Mike says, “So, we checked everything, ran diagnostics, everything is fine, all your problems are related to the battery, we tested it, and it failed” I specifically then asked, “So the cruise control works now?” And his response, “Yep, everything is good to go. Just get that battery, and I’ll leave the files open in case we need to go back and work on them.”

Car ain't starting:
( Click to show/hide )
I drove back to Costco to buy a battery… I get to a stop sign go to turn the wheel, SH*T… The power steering cut out… Oh wait, F*CKING CAR IS OFF!!! It died again!!! (3/4 of a tank of gas btw)…

I start it up, and I get the same starting issues, car is running on 4 cylinders, I decide, **** it, I’m driving it on 4, then all 6 start to fire…

SOB:
( Click to show/hide )
I get there, Mike has a ****-eating grin on his face and asks what’s up. I said that the car just turned off and had starting issues. He said “it’s the battery” I said, “Look, when the car is running, it doesn’t run on the battery, the battery has NOTHING to do with it, the car runs on the alternator.” Dumb SOB said, “No, yeah, it needs the battery still to run” ……… He then said, “So if I try to turn it on now it will have starting problems?” And I said, “It’s an intermittent problem, I showed you the video, I have no idea when it will happen again.” I then said “F*ck it, I’ll go get a new battery.”

Drive home/Icing on the cake:
( Click to show/hide )
I left, and go get back on the freeway… And guess what…
THE GODDAMN CRUISE CONTROL DOESN’T WORK…
That got me PISSED… Then as icing on the cake, ************ calls me and says, “Hey Andrew, we were taking the car to get washed and a fill up, and I noticed there is a huge dent on the trunk.”
“Yeah, it was there when you gave it to me.”
“Nooo, it wasn’t, we gave it to you in like new condition.”
“No, it was there when you gave me the car.”
“Nooooo, you put the dent in during some time you had the car.”
“NOOOOO, IT WAS THERE WHEN I PICKED IT UP.”
“Welllll, it looks like we aren’t getting anywhere with this are we?”
“Nope, obviously we aren’t.”
“I’ll be in touch.”

“PISSED” COULD NOT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW ANGRY I WAS…

Current:
( Click to show/hide )
This leads me to my current issue conundrum. I called corporate, I called Charles at corporate, and his associate.
Regular corporate called me today, and I have my full case set up. And just for shitz n giggles, I got my battery tested yesterday, 925CCA and another test at another place I got 915CCA… Obviously NOT my battery… And tomorrow we’ll see what the new dealership says

Sorry for the essay (12 pages on MS Word) and sorry for all the "spoilers"...

This thread would be more fun to ask people how many spoilers are used indeed.

Anyways, more spoilers are on the way!

Hell of a list!

Clunky change into 2->1 when coming to a stop ------ AT? Ditto on this one plus car went into limp mode when, after downshifting to 1st at a light, I tried to shift up to 2nd once green and went into limp.
Paint bubbling ------- Yup. Fisheyes, cracking, wet looking spots under the clear......
Gas gauge doesn't show full ------- Ditto. My service advisor recommended I monitor the issue.
Car not starting (three times) -------- Once here. Attempted to start it 6 times within 25 minutes.

No coolant leak issues on your end?

Not yet... But fortunately the damn car is starting to burn oil. Used to be ZERO at 3750 miles, I'm about 5mm in at 500 miles...

I've had problems with my 2005 Nissan frontier.. The seats rattle, the tranny is clunky, the paint on the roof pealed off and rusted, the truck rattles and shakes and makes squeaks.

I know for a fact Nissan quality isn't even close to Honda or Toyota

Yes, and I just PM'd you

(I will be forwarding this thread to Nissan so I don't want them to know that I know the reason... THEY need to diagnose it, not like lazy fúcks)
