car wont start ipd steering lock

Ok, I just solved this problem on my 09 Z on Sunday. I was 100 miles away from home when my steering lock stuck.

I simply hit the steering lock itself with the side of a pair of pliers (all I had in my car) and kept pressing the START button until you hear the steering lock retract.

After that the car was in "ACC" mode and I pulled the fuse so it will never happen again. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

where is the steering lock unit located and how would i know which fuse is the steering lock?

The steering lock is directly underneath your steering wheel/column. It is a silver box with a sticker on it(the sticker will have a bunch of letter "E's" on it.) The first picture on this thread is what it will look like when you are laying in your floorboard looking up at the column. http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...ix-w-pics.html

Once you hit that a few times while pressing the Start/Button, you should here the lock retract and the car will go into "ACC" mode.

Yeah, I stopped at a gas station to get a drink before heading home, and it was stuck when I got back in to leave. I had been looking at the fix for a few weeks but never got around to it... Glad to have actually got it to work, that part is expensive and there is no downside to not having a functioning lock that I know of.
