Prepared Mods for 370Z

It's not hating it's common sense.

This will be my weekend car, so I will be making it a better version of what it already is, and was meant for. I don't fit into a lotus so strike that option, and I happen to enjoy the Z (at least past generations, as I have to drive the Z34). Everything I mentioned doing to my personal car is based off of what I will be using it for, again which is the intended purpose of the car.

I have no problems with other people doing ridiculous things to their cars, if they want it for show so they can look cool and cruise around in then that is their business. This is an enthusiast community (at least I thought it was), so when someone posts something asking for input, I am going to give it. If you don't like it, tough **** man, didn't mean to hurt your feelings.

Take a look at Nissan's design goals for this car, and you will understand why I have a hard time understanding why people would choose it to fulfill their audio/bling/show-off goals. Seems there are other far better options out there for that kind of thing. But if you want to do it, by all means it's your money, do what makes you happy.

When you express those goals in an enthusiast community I am not going to sugar coat my feelings on the matter.

So its common sense to buy a Z, strip out everything you paid for thus devaluing the car, turn it into a crude car which is NOT what it was meant to be and that is common sense vs the guys who put PLUS 1 20's and ICE on their STREETCAR 370z. lmao at your logic.

Nissans "design goals" was to have an interior, ride nice, play good sounds and operate in a safe manner on the street first and foremost. They did not design this car for owners to strip out the interior to make it better lol....

You keep tripping up on your own words and cant seem to realize you have no right to chastize anyones choice as your choice 99% of us enthusiasts wont ever do to the Z. You can keep frothing at the mouth and going on about how you are going to speak your mind blah blah blah....One simple cliche rule for you. I believe you have missed the point.

While I have no issues having a productive conversation with you in regards to our philosophy, I have no desire to argue with you.

I personally would not strip out my car in the manner you have suggested. I mentioned taking out a few components would be prefferable in my eyes to adding needless clutter.

I am not arguing a one is better than the other by any means. I merely believe that there are better options for such build goals.

I would wager that the design goals for Nissan with this car was to offer a smaller, lightweight, efficient, economical, ergonomic, more powerful, comfortable for daily use, and affordable iteration of the Z car. I doubt their goals include "interior" and "play good sounds" (hence the common sense remark).

I do not recall chastising anyone's choices, or even insulting anyone. Again this is a forum, full of enthusiasts. I am not "frothing at the mouth and going on about how you are going to speak your mind" I am merely participating in the discussion.

I am sorry you feel the need to take this so personally, we both have our own opinions and thoughts, I am stating mine.

Maybe if you reread your first foray into this discussion you may see how you came across as chastizing others choices. You defend your right to do what you chose but at the same time you appeared to clown others for doing what they see fit with there car. Nothing personal but just like you I call it how I see it but I really try to be fair and look at both sides of the equation as Im doing now. The internet sometimes doesnt convey how we really feel on a matter and disagreements arise. No hard feelings

Well, I understand his frustration. This phenomena happens most specifically with the Z community. You have people who are either enthusiasts or those who don't know anything about performance and just add stuff because it makes cool noises or looks pretty. It bothers me a whole lot too, but I have learned that to be tactful about it and try to educate people as to why their way of doing things may not be in their best interest.

The problem is that yes, there are two separate worlds here, but the dynamics of the situation is what angers some of us. Now this is just my opinion and I think I'm entitled to one if you argue someone should be allowed to ruin their own car without getting chastised for it. The enthusiasts modify their cars and make sexy purposeful cars. The pseudo-enthusiast benefit from this because the car gets a good rep and respect from the rest of the car world. The pseudo-enthusiasts then decide to get 21" chrome "rims" with "fat lip" and a mismatched turbo kit that makes the car drive like crap. They get super lowering crap springs and the biggest loudest blow-off valves money can buy. They get super sweet neons and LED's all up in their shiz and get a kickin' stereo setup with enough power to light up Latvia for a week. This douche-baggery makes all Z owners look bad...I dont know about you, but I dont like to look bad.

Just because we want to get along, it doesn't mean we can't call people out on this type of things. I try to be as respectful as possible to everyone and give them the benefit of the doubt that they dont know any better. However, at least where I live (Miami), there are too many blow-out sporting tight-fake-versace-shirt-wearing idiots who think that they look cool with mismatched color body panels. These guys know perfectly well what they are doing, they are the guys with the 22"s and the Injen stickers everywhere. There's unfortunately this entire community of racer wannabes that have grown enough in numbers where they actually have an audience of equally poserish racers. (As faithfully depicted by their favorite movie Fast and the furious")

OK enough ranting. I can understand both sides of the argument here. It just saddens us enthusiasts to see perfectly good cars which have been obviously designed with performance in mind, to be so horrendously ruined. Of course at the end of the day, I am NOBODY to criticize what anyone else does. Although I dont agree with some of the things I see, I can respect it... I'll definitely say something about it, but it's not like Im out to put everyone who doesnt agree with me down. Which is what a lot of people do actually...

You want to put crap on your car, go nuts. If you want to put crap on your car and then you POST about it on a public forum, then by god are you going to get peoples opinion be it good or bad. If you are prepared to get good opinions, be more prepared for people to disagree with you. Specially if you post your craziness on the internet.



Stand up for your opinion. I absolutely agree with you and the way people ruin their cars. If you want to put 22"s on the car, get something that isn't a sports car because you are ruining it. If you don't, then chances are you will hear from someone like me or ctzn who don't think the same way...

Just be sure to maintain respect for people. If everyone though the same thing then these forums would be extremely boring.

Just to be clear. Im all for everyone speaking there opinion and doing what they want to there Z. But if your idea of a perfect Z is to strip out some of the interior and turn it into a race car then you cant look down on others who want to keep it a street car and make it moreso by adding ice and rims. Live and let live. Neither side is using the Z as it was fully intended is what Im saying. So neither side should be griping at the other. Its first and foremost a streetcar with amenities, comfortable with a good sound system etc. There are better cars suited to both sides of this equation so that argument is moot imho.

I know exactly where both of you are coming from and completely understand both sides thats why Im being objective. I see the merits of both sides. Not everyone lives there lives a 1/4 mile at a time The majority of Z's will never see the track so why should all of us turn it into a track car. At the same time you mess with the balance of the car with +3 on dub rims and laden it down with heavy ICE. One is acceptable for the street/show and the other better suited to tracking. No need to pop a blood vessel if someone else is doing what you wouldnt do. I honestly dont see the ICE and Dub guys getting this worked up about what the performance focused crowd is doing.
