My dad used to have a 280z. So he loves to drive my car.
First time he hopped it, he asked " where's the button to turn the traction control off. " I only really turn it off when my driving is 'spirited'. Otherwise I just leave it on, cause I dont pay it any mind. |

I find I turn it off in the Z a LOT more than I do in the G. I drive the two cars differently though. The G the VDC is on most of the time and in the Z it's off most of the time except during rain etc.

This is my own repost from elsewhere : Yesterday was close to 100 degrees. At 6AM it was 76*. So driving home at four in the after noon the fog starts to roll in. By the time I get home the roads are wet and some people have their wipers on. As usual a Mustang is holding up traffic, A Lexus 330, me, a Subaru Forester, and finally a Ford 150 or similar 80's truck. The 330 and took the other direction and in the final mile home, I was alone. I really like the new Michelins. I turned the VDC on, as it was wet and set the light off at one point. May have saved me and might be the usual flash when its off. But I do not recall it going off in this particular place.

I tried an experiment once. Turned off the VDC then floored it while turning left at a stop sign. Car drifted hard, did a 180 and almost ran into a telephone pole. Needless to say, lesson learned lol...

The 370Z is NOT a difficult car to drive. Don't use the throttle like an ON/OFF switch and you will be fine.

High horsepower, rear wheel drive cars have been around A LOT longer than any form of traction control has....it's the skill set to handle a car set up that way that has steadily been eroded by the advent of modern "driver aids."
I prefer to keep them off as much as possible....particularly in this car where the VDC essentially acts like a throttle "kill switch." |

I've never driven with it off and voted accordingly, but this thread caught my curiosity. It happened to have rained yesterday when I was leaving work around 6:45. Needless to say, the parking lot was mostly empty and the ground slick (it had stopped raining). I turned VDC off and floored it. AWESOME!! Did it again and went a little sideways so I let up. Pretty neat!
I came back to work today, and noticed two sets of parallel rubber lines. Ooops! I didn't expect that with the wet asphalt. ![]()
