I also agree that a sports car should be defined by it's driving dynamics and not something stupid like the number of seats. I mean really, the smart car is a 2 seater coupe, but would you really call it more of a sports car than a 911 or GT-R?

Aw, damn. I thought I was homing in on the ultimate definition.

I think a sports car is best defined that way because all the original definitions have blurred. An M5 is four seats, four doors, often called a sports sedan merely because it has four doors. Yet it can still crush a lot of its opposition, and I'm pretty damn sure it can crush the Z.

Be glad! Now it's gonna be an indepedent rear suspension, and it will look sort of like the MP4-12C (sort of). More like an Aston, really.

If it matches the M3 now... it will crush the Veyron with IRS.

From the almighty Wikipedia (because no one can change that, right? ):

Quote:
A sports car (sportscar or sport car) is a small, usually two seat, two door automobile designed for spirited performance and nimble handling. Sports cars may be spartan or luxurious but high maneuverability and minimum weight are requisite.
And this is from Webster's:

Quote:
A low small usually 2-passenger automobile designed for quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed driving.
So, clearly it's open to interpretation, but there are general guidelines given on what a sports car is.

I wouldn't quite count any Mini in on being a sports car, in my opinion. Nor a Scion.

It all depends on what the definition of is is.

Just because a Drivetrain is different does not discount it a real sports car. The only reason why RWD is considered first in sports is because in the beginning of auto history. The first cars were RWD. In laws of physics, RWD does carry more advantages overall. But put it on certain tracks against an AWD car and RWD is rendered useless as a sports car.

Your thinking is narrow.

As far as the genesis coupe being soulless? Have you ever driven one? I have. I can say this much. It drives better than a G37s (which I owned before) and not as well as a Z. Transmission responsiveness is questionable under certain sport driving conditions. Getting a tune takes most of that out.

Wow...
You're missing the point, but about an infinitely long mile.

He was supposed to give his honest opinion, and he has.

That's what he was paid to do. And that's why he wasn't selected for the driving session.

The Z is out of the league of every car in that sample, I'm sure they expected his opinion being what it was.

The Z can speak for itself...no need to take subjective cheap shots. Quite immature really.

I have to say I don't necessarily agree with the Genesis/Hyundai part. Before purchasing my Z I was actually in the market for a 3.8 Track Genny and I was trading in a 2011 Sonata. TBH, Hyundai has most certainly stepped their game up. Their cars are very well built - I never had a single problem with the Sonata and I put a ton of miles on cars quite fast.

As far as the Genny is concerned, they have done quite well with the price point and the latest GDI Theta engine. Very comfortable car and drives well. You can definitely feel the difference when you loose 300lbs going to a Z but the car still gets up.

I ended up going for the Z because of Heritage, the way it felt like I was driving more of a sports car and less of a sports/luxury (like my SC300 in college), and lastly because I wasn't going to see the one I wanted on shore for another two months from when I purchased. Honestly, if the Koreans wouldn't have been on strike, there's a really good chance I would be driving the Hyundai right now. I definitely don't think the car is soulless. Just saying..

And that comment about Samsung is just ludicrous. The Galaxy SIII is disgusting, and I have absolutely loved my 46" LCD since the day I saw it sitting on the shelf in the store!

Why would they want opinions before test driving? My understanding is he gave a pre-opinion on sports cars. And his pre-opinion knocked him out?
I thought the object was to test and review each car then give your opinion. Well i guess it worked out either way. If he really thinks like that about sports then it's best? lol. I just think that was a silly answer.
