Pulled the fuse on my 09. The only issue is the slight delay, but it starts every time.

Since I have a build date of January 2011 and mine was within the range of affected models on NTB12-41, I pulled mine just to be safe. It's a pretty easy fix, took me about 15 minutes. You have to kind of 'fish' the wires leading into the fuse box out in order to free the box so you can open it up.

Haven't pulled it yet, the fuse. It's in storage in Tx. and I'm in Mx but will as soon as I get back and drive it outta storage. It's my wife's car and I don't want to have to come get her when/if it gets twitchy.

Thanks for finding a fix. Her Z is an 09. No problems and don't want any.

According to the poll over 50% of you either don't know what we are talking about or haven't pulled the fuse.
You people need to wake up and learn about this quick or get your azz out to the garage and pull the fuse before you become a statistic

And if you don't I will say I told you so.

Well, in his defense he didn't know about the steering lock issue. I spent months on this forum reading before I bought my Z so I knew.

But the fact that they're charging him $1500 is rediculous... told him to buy the part outright and do it himself. From what I read it's not that difficult to replace.

If you can button your pants you can do it.

Cutting the wire is just another method to disengage the steering lock. You don't have to cut any wires, just pull the damn fuse and be done with it.

Have you tried tapping on it with a hammer or your hand? I understand there is a possibility of getting it to unlock that way. Then you can turn the car to ACC or ON and remove the fuse

Honestly, it is more that just a tap. I "tapped" mine for 10 minutes and then got angry and beat it like an ugly stepchild and it went ahead and unlocked for me. So, perhaps, try a more "abrasive" method? haha.
