Dyno graph below

Lowest run is our best #s from a few weeks ago. It shows 8.xxpsi however this was just a little spike in boost. The car was running 7-7.5psi in most those runs. New #s are @ 10psi 91 octane.

Wait... Qc plates but your location is T.O. :p

Car looks good  What's next?

SurfDog 02-20-2013 02:03 PM

I have the day off so I went to Ford and drove their v8 GT 6spd. Then I went to Toyota and drove their FRS.

I know I've done a few mods to make my Z just right, but WOW! I could not wait to drop the keys an get back to my car.

The GT felt thick and heavy. It was the driving equivalent of trying to chew gum with a mouth full of Novocaine. It had power and fairly decent trim, but oh my god it was like driving a truck. Heavy, dead steering, tons of body roll. Definitely not for me.

The FRS was light and nimble and nice. I really, really liked it... until I tried to zip up the on-ramp into traffic. It was absolutely pathetic!!! Like going from a Harley to a 10 speed. I actually started laughing at it (which the ride along sales guy didn't like too much). After limping along, reved out, trying to produce some power, I gave up and took the next off ramp then limped back to the dealership.

I Got my 09 Z used for the same price as that new FRS and there is NO comparison. None. The dealer guy hopped in my Z and I took HIM for a test drive and he said something like "Yeah the FRS is definitely not going to be enough for you after this(referring to the Z). I asked him to call me when the FI models come in and we could try again. As he sat in my ride, he was like a kid in a candy store as I pointed out things like SRM, my mods, the keyless start etc. We parted friends, had some fun, and he knew I would probably not be calling him to make an order.

You guys all know these things. I'm sure you read the same reviews I have. Here is my point. If you ever start taking your Z for granted. Take a few test laps around the local car dealer row. 2 hours later you will be reminded what you loved about your car in the first place.

Waiz 02-20-2013 02:15 PM

Nice way to spend your day off!

I would rather have a 370z over the other two cars you drove as well (if I wasn't already so content with my 350z)

JARblue 02-20-2013 02:16 PM

Great post, SurfDog

I don't really need reminding how awesome the Z is, but going WOT in my wife's Acura ILX is all it takes :icon17:

Peculiar 02-20-2013 02:59 PM

When I was looking for a new car originally it was between my 40th or a new FRS. I think I chose right. The FRS price tag is decent but it's half the car.

Hatch is completely apart in preparation to GT Mat. Can't find roller

But, I called Ms. Pint and she is going to be nice enough to drop off a couple of different ones for me to try out later tonight

Thankfully it didn't do this on my side of Phoenix, but it's got to be a first, or first in a LOOOOONG time (that it's stuck to the ground):

Is this really Phoenix (Scottsdale area)? It was 75 degrees out yesterday...
http://i484.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps60154967.jpg

Dodged the hail bullet though.

Was harassed by some cheap @$$ cop in a ford fusion, wss minding my own buisness.

Just disabled the switch that turns off the screen on my HU when watching a movie and the emergency brake is disengaged. Now to figure out how to get the brake light to turn off lol.

Yup, drove to work in the snow this morning...fishtails for sure!

TheW3r3W0lf 02-20-2013 09:16 PM

Started snowing on the way home.. gotta say this is the scariest car I have ever driven in this sort of weather when it comes to tail happy hydroplaning. The rubber on the rear has had a rough life and doesn't do the best job of diverting water away. That said I decided to head up to Sunset Point (Northernish AZ) to drive through the snow - and subsequently one contiguous giant road hugging cloud.

What can I say, I was looking for some love at the truck stop.. kidding!

It's tomorrow somewhere so:

I'll be taking it to Gastonia NC tomorrow [today for future ref.] for fire school (I'm an Sr.IT Admin as the joke). I'll get some pics up or linked tomorrow [today for future ref.]. I might have to get Prem membership as I've used up all my pic space.

Started my GT Mat install, after receiving confirmation I could get a great deal on some more of their high quality butyl product (I only had two sample squares). Rather than use any of the 50mil or 80mil product tonight, I just installed the two butyl squares. I'm scheduled to get the rest of the butyl on Friday. I'll do as much as I can with that and then fill in with the 80mil product before moving to the 50mil.

Nice patch work!

Funny story: When I was running the cables for my rear-view mirror backup camera, I had to take all that out as well. I found an intact Cheeze-It under all the foam padding and plastic pieces. It was either a white cheddar, or had been in there so long it turned white.:icon14:

Got tuned on 100 octane.. give me a few to post a dyno sheet.

morgan 02-20-2013 10:29 PM

Picked up my first z tonight and drove her from MD dealer to my home in DE. Amazed at how tight the steering is and how the car just wraps around you. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed driving a car. Tucked her away and hopefully the Hayabusa won't get jealous.. find scratches all over the Z when I open the garage door tomorrow morning!

576whp 484wtq. Thought tony sent me the dyno graph but not yet. Will get it up as soon as I have it.

Edit: 10.20psi peak

He was driving and talking on his cellphone and when he looked at me I looked straight and shook my head. He started tailgating me so I did the typical thing and cleand my windshield. So he pulled me over and checked my info amd said,"you never know who your messin with, do ya?" I now have absolutely no respect for law enforcement AT ALL! I was harassed for absolutely no reason!

Generalizing law enforcement like that is fairly ignorant TBH. Like any industry there are a handful of crappy people involved but as a whole they deal with a ton of terrible things all day long and do their best to not take it out on the next guy. Then again I may be biased with LE

I took a pass, considering I've never driven in snow (in fact, I've never SEEN snow - it didn't snow by my house or downtown today, so I didn't even get to see it :( ). Could have, probably would have, been catastrophic.

TheW3r3W0lf 02-20-2013 11:53 PM

Forgot to mention a buddy of mine brought along his Nikon to photograph the snow on the mountains near the rest stop today and also took a couple shots of the Z. Thought I would share since they contrast my iPhone photos i've been sharing significantly! I wish I could work a camera like he does!
