drove her to friends house and gave her a wash.

Installed my LiteSpeed Racing Exhaust today! I'll post sound clips up later.:happydance: My biggest complaint as of now is that the passenger side hangs down about 1/2" lower then the driver side. I'm going to have the bracket cut and rewelded to make it sit even.

isayimandrew 03-15-2013 12:14 AM

i am finished for now with my led conversion. The only thing i have left is the triple gauge... but i have to wait for black cats custom to send me the new gauge faces before i take them apart and switch the leds. I didnt convert the radio because i plan on getting the kenwood DNX890HD soon.

Now that I feel like talking about it. Yesterday going to work I had an idiot fail to yield the right of way then flip me the bird because he/she is an idiot driver.
On the way home on I-4 traffic was at 60 MPH and I had ANOTHER idiot in a Camaro driving two feet from the rear of my Z, like three lanes of slow traffic was my fault. :shakes head:
Some days you just wish you were driving an old clunker. Things might be different

Some days you take off Sport Mode and drop it into 2nd at 60mph and get the arsehole off your arsehole.

TheGreatOne 03-15-2013 10:03 AM

Finally some Z action for me

I just called Tire Rack and ordered Potenza RE-11's :D

265-35-19 and 305-30-19

FYI people - I noticed the price went down last night on the RE-11's, maybe because of the RE-11A's coming in (although they are for smaller sizes)

The 305's were down by $50 each and and $35 for the 265's, so not too shabby, a saving is a savings.

I had an older Camaro v8 (probably an LT1 judging by the body style) this morning take off full throttle right next to me at the light. Not sure if he thought I was going to race or what but that's not really my thing at 7am when I'm heading to the train station to go to work....idiots...

Old Camaro? -Check
In a hurry? -Check

He's on his way to the local high school to park his car outside, crank up the stereo with REO Speedwagon blaring, and be old and creepy on HS girls....

Truth! With how loud that exhaust was- I could've skipped my morning coffee. talk about a wake up call.

Oh and to stay on topic- I pulled the SLU fuse this morning. Mines a late 2010 build but would rather be safe than sorry.

Recall is in the process of being issued for the steering lock (links are in some signatures I see going around). But, good that you pulled it anyways.

b15 03-15-2013 02:11 PM

I saw that. I figured if Rev C was the solution before and still failed, the recall to replace with Rev D may still leave me stranded, especially since Nissan decided that later 2011 - current Zs didn't even need the SLU.

I did take my foot off the accelerator pedal. The idiot tried to get ahead of me with 3 car lengths between my Z and the car ahead of me. I didn't let him.

Got the car back today. They fixed my front bumper fitment for free along with the paint job. No more road rash/scratches & they detailed the car inside and out because the guy who owns the body shop loves Z cars. Looks and feels pretty damn good.

Had a nice drive home then went out to dinner at a crappy dive bar where I saw a sad looking '09 GT-R that looked like it hadn't had a bath in ages coupled with scintered/caked on brake dust.

Got two separate waves/thumbs up from 1) a guy in the grocery store parking lot who stopped while crossing in front of me to look at the car and another from a kid who dragged his obviously annoyed mom over to the car to look at it when I was stopped to get gas.

Haha seriously? 3+ years later?

Also, if anyone has any ideas where I might pick up nismo RC front brake ducts, I'm all ears. 3 separate leads, all 3 fell through which is disappointing to say the least. How hard can these be to replicate anyway?!?

Schsplayer00 03-15-2013 11:21 PM

Finally installed my LED park lights they look sick but damn they are a pain in the *** to get to. Also put in LED License plate bulbs.

dmhenderson 03-15-2013 11:24 PM

Pro-tip for those LED plate bulbs I discovered last weekend:

If you have issues with them losing contact and going out due to vibration - try removing them and bending the "prongs" at the base of the bulb outward a little so that they make better contact with the socket.

dmhenderson 03-15-2013 11:25 PM

Daedalus V2 dual halos going in next weekend. Kinda excited.

That's what I did when I put mine in, works like a charm.

Mine kept going out and I spent a good 40 minutes folding up electrical tape and sqeezing it in between the bulb and socket before the "duh" moment hit me.

SPOHN 03-16-2013 04:09 PM

Track day Monday. Brakes serviced, suspension check, oil clean, tires checked, and of course more weight removed. About 15lbs.

Fountainhead 03-16-2013 07:50 PM

Washed mine and waxed her till she glowed, then drove her around. She got new locking nuts that actually fit and look like they belong on the wheel.

Haboob 03-16-2013 09:09 PM

Found out my clear bra has been breached right in the middle of the bumper. :( It's stopped (and shows some battlewounds) quite a few, but this one made it through.

Maivz 03-16-2013 09:30 PM

Well it was an eventful 2 days for my car.
On Friday I plasti-dipped the wheels to see how I would like the black wheels on it which has since turned into a bit of trouble. Today I installed an new head-unit. It's a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS.

http://imageshack.us/a/img818/3274/wheelsu.jpg

Wheels turned out alright, once I get tired of the plasti dip I will probably just sand them down and actually spray them with black enamel. Trouble is when putting the wheels back on, I was spinning the security lug on the back drivers side wheel and the head of the security bolt sheared off. I wasn't torquing it down, I was simply spinning it on with a socket and it sheared. I looked at where it sheared of and there is literally corrosion where it sheared already.

http://imageshack.us/a/img571/4246/lug2u.jpg

http://imageshack.us/a/img820/877/lug1.jpg

Hopefully the dealership will fix as there's no way it should have sheared like that.

Unfortunately the head unit install went better but not flawlessly. I got the XM cable hidden pretty well all the way to the front, works well. However I could not get my bypass for the parking break to work nor have I been able to get the pac swi-ps to program. I got it set for mode 3 but it will not receive inputs. I assume 2 things are possibly going on, 1 its not properly grounded(I tried grounding to the bolt under shift boot) and/or I didn't get a perfect grip on the resist for the pac swi-ps. Iphone, XM and FM work well though, I hid the iphone cable in the cubby hole above the head unit.

Couple things. If you want to talk stereo installs, shoot me a PM because I have the full AVIC-Z140BH setup installed with XM/bluetooth mic etc and the parking brake "motion" override for the DVD, alpine amp, pioneer sub etc. I will caution you to be SUPER careful installing the various antennae because it's really easy to foul your key fob detection (like I did lol).

As for plastidip, you won't have to sand it off. It will just peel off and you can buff out whatever remains. I'm guessing you won't like it after a month or two though. It doesn't "age" well.

chrischhorn 03-17-2013 01:58 AM

Nothing truly done to the Z today but I did schedule a retune for tomorrow morning at 11am since swapping from the CNT exhaust to the LiteSpeed SS exhaust. Only paying $100 for a quick retune so whatever lol.
