I'm guessing it's not possible for us AT peeps to swap the knob right? (yes, that sounds dirty.)

Edit: Oh and HI fellow Austinite!

hello and yes the AT shift knob is quite easy to swap out actually, you might look into the killjuelz knob that one of the members offers over on my350z and g35driver, thats where i had my old one from my g35 and it looked perfect, just got to pop the shift knob off real quick and slide the new one in place. takes all of 2 minutes to do

Yeah you can change out your shift knob on an AT just like you can on a MT. Still requires the same amount of (frankly ridiculous) effort to torque the knob off without damaging the transmission due to the retarded amount of loctite Nissan uses though.

Sounds like it's expensive in the way of exhausting labor to take the OEM knob off.

Yeah, it's just me thinking lazy. Precursor to being lazy.

Agreed, but that's what beer and boys are for.

Just the opposite for me. Getting the knob off is what girls are for.

Nah it's a snap. You use a towel around the shift lever and a pipe wrench to hold it in place (to keep it from torquing - THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT), then use a 2nd pipe wrench on the knob itself to tear the goddamn thing off.

Once you have it off, use a wire brush to remove the excess loctite from the screw threads and then tighten down your new knob.

Important to note that your OEM shift knob will not survive this ordeal. Mine literally ripped in half all the way down to the threading.
