Good luck with the S4, LakeShow! Heck of a car.

DLSTR 05-04-2013 07:45 AM

Well done on the S4 LakeShow. Former Audi owner myself. Most likely the new S3 sedan will be in my garage next year!!

SPOHN 05-04-2013 09:03 AM

Changed rear brake pads for track day tomorrow. Unfortunately it's going to 90% rain. So it will be a slow day especially being a track that is all off camber.

RN SHARK 05-04-2013 11:26 AM

Racing at Auto Club Speedway with Speed Ventures! Should be an awesome track day, temps in the 80s.

KERMIT 05-04-2013 11:28 AM

Drove my z to jimmy johns for lunch

Nailzs 05-04-2013 01:09 PM

Drove to Lakeland to Alarms Etc and had the windshield fitted with 70% 3m crystalline tint. I go back May 25th to finish the rest of the car with 40% 3m crystalline. The drive home I had about 30 lovebugs stuck to the front of my Z, so, wash the car and re-wax the front end, mirrors, and window posts with Klasse All-In-One and topped that with P21S carnauba wax.

ShutokuZ 05-04-2013 01:35 PM

Got her back from getting the headliner replaced. All I can say is it was full of fail! First, the new headliner is miss shaped, so the pillar trim pieces do not sit flush and have gaps. Second, there are scratches on all of the plastic trim pieces that were removed. And third, the top seatbelt feed arms were put back on wrong, so they would adjust towards the back and not the front! WTH!!!!
Anyways, I was not a happy camper, so new headliner on order, all new interior trim pieces on order, and seatbelt arm were put back on correctly.
Basically, there will be all new interior pieces put on, from bottom of window up, and all on a car with only 3k!

JARblue 05-04-2013 01:44 PM

 Woah! Dealer did that $hit? :shakes head: Did they try to give it to you as though everything was fine, and if so, did they acknowledge it when you said something or try to argue?

ShutokuZ 05-04-2013 02:06 PM

The service manager is the only one I will deal with. He is pretty cool.
He made sure I looked over everything before I left (as I always do), to make sure everything was good. Found those problems, showed to him, and he was all about getting it fixed. He scolded his techs for the scratches while I was there. If they weren't so cool about it (as they should be anyways), then it would have been a worse scene!

JARblue 05-04-2013 02:10 PM

Glad you didn't have to verbally rape someone :ugh2:

nepali 05-04-2013 02:17 PM

Plasti-dipped the rear diffuser and front fangs. Not a bad job for my first time. I will probably redo it again in a few weeks.

Thank you for the kind words, I concur, the Audi is just an spectacular car, love everything about it, nothing like German engineering.

b15 05-04-2013 05:12 PM

Put quite a few miles on the Z the last two days. She's filthy but damn I can't stop smiling when I drive it.

Ordered some sound deadening last week. Will be doing the hatch and doors next Saturday.

Got my new F.I. exhaust installed today :happydance:

3.7 ZPA 05-04-2013 08:22 PM

Did this. The paint and clear coat did not come out how I intended. I put it on anyway, and will figure out what to do from here. I still like it, though:

What was your intended look? It looks sorta like the DupliColor Shadow (black chrome) I sprayed my side markers with today.

3.7 ZPA 05-04-2013 09:22 PM

The aluminum edges are still poking through, even after three coats. I thought the two-tone would look good, but the cheap paint flaked a bit when I was working around the letters with a toothpick. I may take it off and do another coat of black and clear coat. Debaged doesn't look too bad either.

speedracer007 05-04-2013 09:40 PM

Took out one of my stock tweeters to use as a pattern to make mounting plates for new speakers I bought over a month ago and have not found the time to install. Decided to use an old black DVD case -- looks like it will do the trick.

JARblue 05-04-2013 10:34 PM

I just finished the last coat of clear on my side markers. It was a bit of a fiasco having to paint three times before I damaged one of the side markers and had to start over completely with a second set :shakes head: But I managed to learn from my mistakes, and I am very pleased with the results. One medium-heavy coat of DupliColor Shadow transparent black basecoat, 3 light coats of clear, and 2 heavy coats of clear. I'll be putting them on tomorrow morning before my trip to the tuner

roy'sz 05-05-2013 10:06 AM

Let my dad drive the beast for almost 100 miles. Finally after the tune and all the parts I put on there I have learned to really love my car. I now have the same feeling about my 370 as my dad has about his 350. Awesome cruise and fun times.

b15 05-05-2013 10:26 AM

Went out and bought a new microfiber wash mitt and drying towel and washed her up this morning. Having the right towels on a black car makes a huge difference! Now she's all clean and ready to sit in the garage for the next 5days lol

Surprisingly, gunmetal is almost as bad as black. Leave it alone for two seconds and you might as well rewash. Oh you should see my towel collection. :ugh2: lol

I'd like to wash mine today but it is cold and it'll be raining all freakin week. Gettin' my Stillen fascia put on on Thursday. Picking up Friday. Hopefully it isn't raining so I can clean it up for the Sumospeed meet here in VA Beach on Saturday. Don't wanna be the clown in a dirty Z. hehehe... dirty Z.

DLSTR 05-05-2013 12:12 PM

Had a decent detailing start yesterday. Finished today for a nice cruize to brunch!:driving:

Nailzs 05-05-2013 12:15 PM

Drove to the store this morning. I wanted some fresh blueberries, and to test the 70% 3m Crystalline tint on the front window. Parked at the store the car was facing the sun. When I came out I felt some heat and was a bit disappointed, untill I headed north and the sun was coming in through the passenger side window. Quite a difference. The car seat and my arm were HOT. I can't wait until I get the rest of the car tinted with 40% tint. :eekdance:

There a ton of paintless dent repair guys out there. A buddy of mine (Halskie, may he rest in peace) had a VERY nasty door dent (not a ding, a dent) and this guy Pierre made it look like it was never there. You should check it out.

Yes that technology makes a world of difference these days. Good call!

Yeah. The darker colors look great clean though. I've had a silver and a metallic grey car and both were infinitely easier to keep clean. Good thing the Z isn't a dd. I'm too much of a clean car freak.
