Poor fuel efficiency?

I recently purchased a 2012 370 w/touring, sport package and manual transmission. Prior to the Z I had a 2010 Maxima. I purchased the Z with the expectation of getting around 20mpg. The sticker lists 18-26mpg, the sticker on my Maxima listed 19-26mpg which resulted in 22.5mpg for the same basic driving routine as I do in the Z....so my natural assumption was about 20mpg for the Z. Nope, I'm getting 17.4mpg after the first 1K miles. I'm driving it easy through the suggested break in period of 1,200 miles, using only 92-93 octaine fuel, mostly shifting between 2k-3k rpm. Any thoughts of what's causing such poor fuel efficiency? Are you experiencing this too? Other than this I love the Z but if I would have known this up front I might have reconsidered the purchase. Pretty sure I can get V8 muscle at 17.4mpg. Thoughts?

Welcome OP! You are still in your break in period, after 1200 miles she'll give you the same or better gas mileage (all depends on driving style). Keep in mind too, the 370z is the most fuel efficient sports car with the level of performance it provides. Also, sports cars are about having fun in, not watching your gas gauge while enjoying them.
