I have a 2nd hand 09 with no issues, but the peace of mind from a new car is worth a lot.
Its a $700 option. Its not standard and its been an OPTION sine 2010: Its just most dealers just have it in there lately because of the popularity of the product due to the majority of people not knowing how to back up a damn car. But most are paying for the part.

get the 09'. $7k is a significant amount to save, and from I've heard aftermarket nav systems are better then the factory one anyway. I have an 09' with over 25k miles and have pretty much zero issues.

I still would rather have the '12 with anywhere from 6-30 miles on it than a used car with XXXX miles on it. It is easier to say that the '12 was treated well with only having such low miles on it, but the used Z could always be very questionable.

I'm the opposite. I for one would never by a new car. I'd prefer to buy something fully warrantied that's 1-2 years old with a clean Carfax. I like saving thousands and thousands of dollars but to each their own. It sounds like you won't go wrong with either choice. It's your decision and you have to live with it so get what makes you happiest.

The price difference is more than what the OP listed. The second he drives off of the dealer's lot he's probably lost $5,000 because now it's a used 2012 370Z.

A 2009 with 3,500 miles on it is practically a new car - without a new car price.

I bought a used 2009 touring sport last august with about the same miles and I haven't looked back. I would say, don't buy a 2009 base, get the touring and you will still get it significantly cheaper than a 2012. If you can afford it though and money isn't tight, get the new.

My biggest issue is value. I know the 2009 is the least expensive now and the 2012 will depreciate as soon as I drive off the lot,but the 2009 is around 2k over edmunds value and I have to pay tax on it when I register the car. The 2012 is an after tax price which puts it right at invoice. Not to mention the few updates that were mentioned above. I think the 2012 is calling my name!

P.S.
I have heard many different opinions about a factory nav and aftermarket nav, but I don't think I could go "wrong" with the factory nav.

Thanks for the input and discussion!

Edmonds is such a joke. Nobody will ever find a dealership to agree to an Edmunds price lol

Its on my Z as well. It came with it. I didn't pay for it. It was basically a throw in. I barely glance at it. Once the mirrors are positioned properly you can back up fine without the cam.

I personally am always sketched out when I see a used car with thatttt low of miles on it. I would go new.
Same principle for trying to find a virgin wife lol

Low miles and a clean car fax sketches you out??? So what's the criteria for a used car? High miles with a list of issues so the dealer can say we sorted em' out???

I bought my 09 used and my 11 brand new with 4600 miles. The only thing my 09 needed was synthetic. If anything, my 09 felt more raw than my newer, slightly quieter and softer suspensioned 11:

If you're paying cash you're 100% correct if you're financing on the other hand with the 0% available you're not saving as much as you think. If you're looking at 11's you may end up paying more for the used one in the long run.

Buy the used version if you are a bit of a penny pincher and can accept the fact that someone else shaped the seat before you-. "OR" Buy the new version if you like to spoil yourself and need to know without a doubt that you popped her cherry before anyone else could ever touch her.

Of course, but even those 6-30 miles could have been hard abused miles, just saying, you never know what the dealership sales people do when they "take it out to fill up the tank" I was actually questionable about my 41 miles when I bought mine.
