i will definitely continue using the gopro in my car. i want to get the steady-shot for the cameras i vid my kids. i can't get a clean steady shot while walking with the Flip camera... kids are always moving around so i need the quick steady shot + decent audio without carrying other gear. the Flip has decent sound.

i ordered up a rode video mic pro. will see how that works on the gopro mic input, but the intended use for that mic is for my digital recorder. i need the cord to be isolated from the mic as the cord rubbing things gets transferred into the recording. the rode has isolators/suspension mounts so i am hoping it will take care of that problem. the rode comes with a 3/8 boom pole screw hole on the bottom of the hot shoe, so i needed to get the 3/8 to 1/4 adapter. :)

thanks, happy. yah, it was just a matter of time. i still need to find out if the mic polar pattern is going to work facing forward or aft. i want to make it facing forward, but then i will have a hard time reaching the power button on the rode mic. lol if i face it towards the rear, i think im going to get too much road noise, but i will be able to rid the shoe to pedal clunk noise i keep getting pre-launch. will have to play with it.

The cord-rubbing issue should be a big problem since the cord could be tied up, I am hoping you can solve the issues on your gopro from the audio-filter.

Thus I suggested you that noise cancellation mic this morning, it looks like a mono, but I think it will have sound to both L&R channels, for $20, no harm to try. :icon17:

Good morning all! :hello:

Yesterday was not a good day for me at all in terms of work. I blew out some settings remotely from another location that directly impacted two important switches, taking a number of important servers offline for an hour and a half. :crying:

Well, live and learn. Hopefully there isn't too much political blowback from it.

Totally meant to post last night but I came home to dead primary computer. No response at all, so I swapped out the power supply for one I know is good. Same thing... nothing. :icon14: It ended up being the damn power cord :shakes head: I have never had that happen before, and I sure wasted a massive amount of time swapping out PS.

Mr. GaleForce, this one's for you. :icon17:

Thank you sir :tiphat:

Now anyone know where I can find something similar looking to replace my gas cap? :icon17:

kenchan 06-07-2012 09:23 AM

JAR- not sure about the gas cap. :icon17: i like that there are holes in your oil cap where if it gets too hot or tight during an oil change, you can slot a screw driver to turn it.

my nismo one gets EXTREMELY hot so i have to wear my work gloves and crank it while looking like this (>_<) errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! :icon17:

yikes... mr.onzedge - that ballooned hand pict was yours?! :icon14: doh! hope your hand heels quick too...

i would take this opportunity to add up all the mods you want for your Z and sue the guy for pain and suffering for that exact amount. or else, their dog will go. :icon17:

honestly pets are like family. if a dog did that to my kid that dog would be literally in pieces by now.

That was definitely a positive feature, since even the plastic oil cap is pretty hot to the touch on my kitchen-experienced fingers - my wife calls them asbestos fingers :icon17:

I am uncertain as to what I am going to do with the guy. Part of me says "Screw that guy" and part of me understands that animals are ultimately unpredictable. He is paying all of our bills so far and I am just letting things take their course until everyone is better to make a final decision. I do have some people in my life who owe me favors...

mr.onzedge-are you that guy from the TV show "stingray" ? :icon17:

i am sure you will make the right decision for your situation. :) i just have a no-tolerance to violence mentality. dog attacks are preventable.

What widths do you want? I can help once we have that down.

I can also explain...If you teach a man to fish, right?

Offsets aren't particularly hard to work with, but many people struggle because they have never had them explained well.

When you are installing a set of rims, there are generally two things you need to worry about. One is inner clearance, and the other is outer clearance.

I'm going to assume you aren't doing anything truly crazy, which means we can ignore the inner clearance and just worry about the outer clearance, which will make things a little bit easier.

Your wheel basically looks like this, with the right side being the face, and the bulge representing where the wheel mounts. The spacing between the mounting face and the center of the wheel is the offset.

http://img.tapatalk.com/a69372de-ccea-834f.jpg

If this number is zero, the mounting face is in the center of the wheel. If it is positive, it is on the face's side of center,(right, in this picture) and if it is negative, the mounting point is on half of the rim away from the face.

This basically translates to meaning a higher (positive) offset brings your wheel in tighter to the car, while a lower (or negative) offset spaces the wheel out.

To start, let's look at the stock 18" rim sizes:

F: 8" ; +43mm
R: 9" ; +15mm

So our outside width for the stock rims is:

F: = 4" - 43mm = 5.86cm
R: = 4.5" - 15mm = 9.93cm

Of course, stock rims aren't very aggressive, and most people want something that pushes them out a bit more.

25mm spacer front and rear gives us something like this:

F: = 4" - 18mm = 8.36cm
R: = 4.5" +10mm = 10.43cm

And a more aggressive 9.5/15 (this may actually rub) || 10.5/5 gives us:

F: = 4.75 - 15mm = 10.565cm
R: = 5.25 - 5mm = 12.835cm

The long and the short of this is that what offset you need is going to vary dramatically based on the width of the wheel you need, and the look you want.

Something aggressive might be in the range of:
F: 9.5" , +18
R: 10.5, +5

If you want to stay with stock widths and keep the offsets, you have those numbers. If you want to space them out more, just subtract out how much extra spacing you want* (ie, 25mm spacer takes the front to a +18 and the rear to a -10).

These numbers should give you an idea how various offsets will sit
