When you do a walk around on your ZL1 check out to see if it has wheel weights on the calipers.

Tell me about it. They could have definitely replaced the insulation at the very least. Oh well, I'm up now with nothing to do.

Hey Ms. Pint -- maybe you can make one of these if you are bored:

Edit - how fast does it roll off? 12db? 18db?

thanks, mr. gale. :hello: roll off is 12dB/octave per their spec. it sounds like those noise-cancellation headphones when you turn this on in a plane. lol

at 0dB attenuation facing the rear, the input level is too hot in the low frequencies and my audio clipped. not only did the exhaust tone clip the signal, low frequency noise from road bumps also clipped it. the physical suspension bands were doing a good job isolating bumps though.

since the mic was facing the rear there's no depth in the sound, almost sounds like putting a mic in a plastic box. my tascam recorder had great depth when placed in the cupholder. (just jammed the unit in there partially wrapped in mf towel. :icon17: )

so tomorrow im going to try front facing and attenuate by -10dB. will try both flat and high pass filter. i prefer to have no roll off as it sounds more natural. in a car 40hz roll off imho is better as you can maintain the rich tonality of the exhaust. the tascam offers this and real-time input levels, but the rode is just a mic and so only offers 80hz roll off.

unfortunately the high pitched noise is still in the audio, generated by the gopro. but even with the failed attempt today, when the audio was not clipping, it sounded much better than the gopro's built-in mic. :)

more tomorrow. :p

I found out I am down to 3/32" tread on my rear PSS (6/32" on the fronts). Dang, I was hoping for more miles out of them.

Time to call my buddy Hunter (the tire pusher/dealer) at Tire Rack.

happytheman 06-09-2012 11:41 AM

Wow! How many miles onn them?

How many did you get on them?

Mt Tam I am 06-09-2012 11:42 AM

Got stuck behind a 15 MPH Versa for several miles. We came upon part of the road that had just been repaved, and no double yellow lines were present as usual. I passed him like he was standing still and had two miles of winding road unto myself.

happytheman 06-09-2012 12:27 PM

Yup, VDC off and sideways at 6000 rpm!!!

Bucketlist2012 06-09-2012 12:32 PM

I average about 10K miles per set of tires..

But I like my Tires soft and sticky..

I ran P7's on my 300ZX and Sticky tires on the 350Z..

Now those RE050's may get 10K miles...

I am just a little too frisky I guess..
