Cheap Y pipe!! $100 shipped!

I can feel it rev faster around 3-5k range, more aggressive launch (tire spin), and deeper exhaust tone. People concerned about rasp, it does not make sense to cold start your Z and rev it in neutral gear, because it will sound like crap, but when you drive and really push it, sounds great.

Fitment is spot on. Just look how thin is the stock pipe.

you think it'll make a difference in power even though i only have AAM short tails? since i lack back pressure

I'm not an expert but any y-pipe is better than stock. Once you take it off you will see the diameter is smaller compare to the eBay one, you can't lose. Anyone chimes in?

My car is already pretty loud with just the Short tails and Typhoons, does the Y-pipe make it even louder. Not sure Im looking for MORE volume

Im pretty sure itll make it a bit louder, but shouldn't that much of a difference.

NickTurnon 12-10-2012 10:35 PM

I wouldn't think its much louder. Probably more of a raspy throaty sound though...

nmjaxx9 12-12-2012 11:54 AM

Couldn't find a "Random Question" thread so ill post it here since I guess it might be considered a cheap mod.

Would there be any noticeable change in performance, airflow, or sound if I were to install a Y pipe from a 350z HR? I used to have an 03 g35 DE so for that it did get a deeper since the y-pipe did have a smoother flow due to the HR y pipe having a smoother intersection from the curves compared to the DE which had very sharp turns joining the 2 inlets. HR vs VHR (if I'm not mistaken) the HR has 2.75" inlets as the VHR has 2.5". I know it wouldn't make a big difference but wondering if anyone has tried this before. I've had an HR y pipe sittin in my room for the longest time just haven't had the time to install it yet.

I got a can of KAD spray paint from Automotivetouchup.com for ~$20. I also purchased the adhesion promoter and clear coat. With them I have done a custom Z start button, color matched my EVO-R Z emblems and my shift boot trim. Up next is another can (plus a can of KAV probably) to do some more of the silver trim inside the car as well as the door handles and side markers

Huck 02-12-2013 12:30 PM

Nice, I need to fix a few spots on my car. Especially the side skirts, those things are torn up. When I took my 370Z emblem off the back it took a small chip of paint with it, and there's a small chip on both sides of my car. :smh:

For chips, I think Dr. Colorchip is a better solution for DIY. You would have to be very experienced imo to properly blend the spray paint and your PW color makes that even more difficult.

I thought Dr. Chip didn't work with PW?

It works just fine!

I know the metallics/pearls are a special 3 coat whatever BS, but I've seen Dr. Colorchip on a PW, and I didn't know it had touch up applied

Removed the rear hatch weight and added an LED controller for the high mount stop. The controller was about $30, removing the weight- free!

I'm still confused why your 2012 had a weight in the hatch and my 2011 did not :icon14: I have sport, non-touring...

Not sure! I also don't know why my Nismo would have the weight having the giant spoiler on the back which already helps close it!

I assume since it's a Nismo it's one of the dampeners (or dampers, whichever term you prefer). There's a diagram on here showing where they all are.

Oh really? Where can I look into that? I'd like to do a little more research!

Thanks

I completely forgot to post my front bumper mesh grill in here. All that is needed is a $7 sheet of metal lattice with a chrome finish (from Lowe's or Home Depot) and some tin snips. However, I also spray painted mine with Dupli Color Shadow product, which costs about $17. You can check out my album here for more details.

I definitely want to remove the plastic slats... just haven't grown the balls to do it, yet :icon17:
