I purchased an 8' long sheet of metal lattice from Home Depot for about $7. I spray painted the chrome finish with DupliColor Shadow for a black chrome finish.

Metal cut to allow OEM fitment of plastic piece covering the fang opening

Plastic piece with both screws and three clips fits same as before

Decent close up with a good comparison of the original chrome to the black chrome finish

Three heavy layers of the translucent black wound up being pretty dark mostly because it was hard to apply evenly with the angled faces of the metal
