This one you can use the hoses for brake ducts.

http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...ur-airbox.html

Same idea but they go to your intakes. Both of those are around $75 for parts.

Oil pan spacer for $189

Ken-San recommended this cheap mod to keep yer stainless shifters nice and cool during the summer! While he didn't expressly mention this particular one (he may have mentioned a bunny cover or something of that nature), I feel this might fit the bill nicely at $23.89!

I wish there was a way to make this mod where it will cover the silver inner rim. :(

sonic370 03-14-2012 09:26 PM

HU and speakers upgraded from stock system that never should have been in a 40 grand sports car...

There is somebody around here that has such a system for that, but it's more involved & cost more. I don't mind the little bit of silver, as I have the grey int & it kind of accents a little to the rest of the trim. Like I said, $13, can't beat it& I can actually read the fuel gauge now.

$.02

Yes - One 3M Di Noc: 12"x24" $11.99

Bought it from this place on the bay:
Carbon_Covers

Looks like they have other colors too.

I would buy the 3M brand opposed to other vinyl, JMHO.

Have FUN!

How did you wrap the trim around the shifter? Was it difficult?

1) Completely take the ring off of the shifter/boot assembly

2) Lay the ring upside down on the paper side of the vinyl

3) Draw with a pencil/pen around the ring edges AT LEAST an inch outside and inside.

4) cut with scissors on your lines, you will have a big vinyl doughnut looking ring.

5) Peel off the sticky back and lay on table, center the ring upside down on the sticky back and press onto sticky sided vinyl.

6) Holding down on the ring, upside down, sticky side up, move the ring to the edge of the table so part of the ring hangs off so you can hold the ring with one hand and slowly work the sticky vinyl around the edges. Work slowly, move the ring around while slowly working the sticky onto the edges. Try to push a little more of the vinyl in the ridges near where the emergency flasher button and other button is (my other button does nothing)

7) When you get all you can get wrapped with you fingers, get your heat gun out and put A LITTLE HEAT on the vinyl where it will go under the ring, you might have to trim some so you don't have a bunch on the bottom of then ring, to start its better to have more than not enough, you can always trim but you cant add. You will get the feel for the heat gun very quickly, it does not take much heat to get the vinyl to wrap easily. I did allot of trimming excess off the bottom of the ring, when I was close to being done I used a window lippin stick (plastic Teflon tool) to mash the last of the edges into the underside of the ring, with a little heat it works great.

8) I did do the door controls first so I had allot better idea what I was up against when I did the ring. If you have something to practice on that would work too.

PM or post with any questions, there is also allot of Ytube info on applying Di Noc to different stuff: Info

Have FUN!

Whew! Thought I was going to lose my mind finding this thread! Here's a great how-to on removing the stock knob.

http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...installed.html

theboydiddy 03-25-2012 10:49 PM

this is absolutely awesome dude. mine should be arriving this week and i will give it a try switching them myself....

to not lose a thread i usually set up to "instantly email notification" simply because sometimes a thread dies out... but then weeks later it may pick it back up again so the emails keep me posted.

thanx once again buddy :ugh2:

happytheman 03-25-2012 11:18 PM

Yeah thanks, but there haven't been any updates on that one in over eight months. Considering that I've actually subscribed to nearly 500 threads, it's easy to lose that one thread in the mix. :)

RHD, thanks for the great explanation! Did you take pics during the install? If so, that would be a great DIY.

ChipsWithDips 03-25-2012 11:28 PM

Don't think it's been mentioned in here yet, but there are ebay y-pipes going for about $100-120 shipped right now. Apparently they were as low as $80 in the past.

http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...ap-y-pipe.html Quite a few people have installed them in that thread, haven't seen any complaints.

theboydiddy 03-26-2012 12:20 AM

I have seen it BUT (huge but actually) I've heard these pipes and many other car parts from eBay are NO good. Doesn't fit, it's not as showed (most of the times), doesn't give a better performance for the car (of it does not the full performance as a Stillen, Greddy... And many others would) and the list goes on. Once again I personally never bought any pipes or car parts from eBay myself for performance, these are things that I was told by friends and others that has.
I was considering buying used parts such as cold air intake which is what I want right now but it cost $515 :-/ (Stillen) but I was also told to not do it because it wouldn't be a good idea. So at this point I'm guessing the only way out is to spend the outrages amount of money =/

Hi Happy,

No pics during install, followed the short vid, that's about it.

I have to agree with this, but only with regards to purchasing pipes off EBay. There's nothing wrong with picking up a used Stillen G3 intake tho. $515 is a bit expensive, unless it was NIB. Those tend to go for $400-$425 pretty much all day.

There is nothing wrong with getting used performance parts as long as you make sure they are in decent condition. I saved a bunch of money by getting all my parts used and they all work perfectly. Picked up a Berk exhaust for $700; Stillen G3 intakes for $300; and CNT HFC for $200. That's over $1k in savings and all my parts work perfectly.

Wow. That's crazy. Where you got them from?
I was looking for catbacks last night and those prices hurted my heart lol
I also want that Stillen G3 intake bad but I can't find it used. Would be good to change the intake front pieces to new ones? The pieces that actually sucks up air. (you know what I'm saying?)

I just found them here in the classified section of the forum. You have to look for a while to find good deals, but they do come up every once in a while. I'd be checking the classified section like all day long when I was looking for stuff :icon17:

KaienZ34 03-26-2012 09:03 AM

I also just picked up a used fast intentions CBE with SS 12" resonators for $800 in the classified section from a member.

Pretty sure this counts!

$150 - LED ORB Kit

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Makes me want to re-open my headlights and try this lol. Could be good for those of us who weren't scared to open up the headlights and paint.

I see they drop 180's name too

^^^ or you could do these for about $30.

For $150 you could do the dual projector look and go quad angel eyes. Probably still have money left over.

Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new fangled science stuff.

ZMan8 04-03-2012 01:00 PM

Some of these may have been mentioned but each of these is <$200 by itself:
-Replace your differential fluid to RedLine 75W90
-Replace tranny fluid = smoother shifts
-Buy either a front or a rear aftermarket sway bar. (or both for just a little more)
-SS brake lines + upgrade fluid
-SS clutch line + upgrade fluid
-High performance Brake Pads
-Shift knob
-Clutch helper spring sold on these forums
-Buy a nice detailing kit to preserve your car
-oil pressure guage (for those with an oil cooler this is important)
-Spacers

That just looks so flat out bad-azz! I also really like the fang treatment with the thin strip of pearl white at the bottom!

Really want to do this to my z, but I doubt I could. 180 custom is too expensive. But 30 bucks for dual halo on each light and paint my housing satin black... I wish. That looks so sick!

MyZ4U2C 04-03-2012 10:19 PM

This is a great addition to the rear, well I liked it on my Acura I had before I got my Z. with " bright white " it will match the LED license plate upgrade and look like a stock option and under $200

Oh that's quite nice! I'd like to see some of the colors other than the yellow. :)

Oh you mean this one!

It looks good, but perhaps a teensy bit rice.

I can't help it, but any page that sports this at the top, front and center...gets my full attention! :rofl2:
( Click to show/hide )

MyZ4U2C 04-03-2012 11:08 PM

Mine is actually a dark gray with white, similar though. I know how it can look a little rice, but I think the white is suttle and gives it a almost stock look, or red if you wire it for the brake light where it only lights up when braking....colors like green, blue, yellow are a bit more ricey. The white matches the license plate upgrade and its not for everyone, but does look kinda nice

happytheman 04-03-2012 11:17 PM

Yes, I think if the white is subtle..it can certainly look nice against the white LED of the license plate lighting. :)

MyZ4U2C 04-03-2012 11:24 PM

This thread was a excellent idea btw, I wont be able to afford much just getting my Z, so looking through here getting some little mods here and there to tide me over will be great! repped!

the spoiler is great, ur looking at the eyes right? lol, and this mod is something that looks a lot better in person than in pics, its really hard to justify the lighting / look in a pic
