the spoiler is great, ur looking at the eyes right? lol, and this mod is something that looks a lot better in person than in pics, its really hard to justify the lighting / look in a pic

Sure, we'll just go with that for now! Thanks for the rep! Yea, it's always nice to see new ideas pop up that don't cost a bundle to incorporate! :)

Another great mod

Let's not forget the "K. F." hood damper mod! A must have for anyone who spends time messing around in the engine bay. If I remember correctly this mod was less than 100$.

You're right, it's just under $100. I think they're working through some slight fitment issues on this one though. I'm waiting on the completion of some additional R&D and then I'll be jumping on board.

Phaddi_inc 04-03-2012 11:57 PM

No problems here

Ya I heard there was some fitment issues but mine seem to be spot on. Hood and fender gaps are all the same still, which was a big concern for me. besides lifting the hood that extra bit for the install, I can't see any issues at all. At first they were a bit aggressive on opening, but they seem to have settled just nice now.

2ndChance 05-06-2012 07:35 PM

Cheap Y pipe!! $100 shipped!

I can feel it rev faster around 3-5k range, more aggressive launch (tire spin), and deeper exhaust tone. People concerned about rasp, it does not make sense to cold start your Z and rev it in neutral gear, because it will sound like crap, but when you drive and really push it, sounds great.

Fitment is spot on. Just look how thin is the stock pipe.

Supposedly "High Quality T-304 Stainless Steel". Quality seem to be on par with mid range exhausts I've seen.

chefsung 06-02-2012 10:31 AM

damn. I wanted to order the pwjdm shifter but its out of the red color base....:(

happytheman 06-02-2012 10:49 AM

That PWJDM piece is nice. I went through a couple of different shifters before I settled on that one. :) Good luck getting it, and when you do..post up pics! :pics:

Here's another great cheap DIY mod, painting your brake calipers. I painted mine this past weekend and it cost only like $30-40 in materials. Did take like all day to do, but definitely worth it.

I used VHT caliper paint which is good for temps up to 900* and I used their brake caliper cleaner as well to do the prep. Here's a cost breakdown:

VHT Caliper Paint = $7.50 x 2 = $15.00
VHT Caliper Cleaner (or any other brake parts cleaner) = $5.00 x 2 = $10
Sanding Sponge (or use whatever you want for sanding) = $2.50 x 2 = $5
Total cost = $30

Here are the results:

Also I don't remember if it's been mentioned already, but plasti dip is another awesome cheap mod. It costs like $5-10 per can depending on what kind you get, but it's very easy to use, requires minimum prep work, and is removable! You can see the plasti dip on my wheels in the last post and it looks great.

RoshDawg 06-07-2012 04:26 PM

Great job on the calipers! I'm guessing you took them off to paint them?

happytheman 06-07-2012 04:32 PM

Looks great man! I will say that when I painted a previous vehicle's calipers I just masked the sh!t outta everything and went to town!

b1adesofcha0s 06-07-2012 04:37 PM

Thanks guys! Yeah I took them off. I was installing new brake pads and fluid so I had to take them off anyway. I wanted to paint the calipers at some point and this just happened to be the perfect time to do it.

The red really stands out from far away especially with my dark colored wheels. I love it!

i just stuck an IRadar on my dash and I have to say im digging the phone mount and the radar is pretty slick.

Sorry the photo is so crappy and dark, and of course my phone is also my camera, soooooo... Mount is empty. lol

I put 3M clear vinyl on both rocker panels for about $200. My black paint needs all the protection it can get.

NitrousZ34 06-23-2012 07:29 AM

Awesome thread OP!! I have read every single page and sorry if i post some stuff that has already been said but... How about pullies, lowering springs, motor mounts, diff mounts, turbo timer, i have a blue apex'i in my 350z and its on nitrous only, it looks sick and people are always asking what it is and what it does... This is still a good mod even if your not forced induction, its always good to let your car cool down after a hard run. This mod is kind of bad lol but i have a kill switch for my windows because i have 5% tint on them so whenever i get pulled over, officer asks me to roll up the windows and i pull the "darn the motors went out again" card... works everytime haha. Im just throwing out ideas that i have done on my 350, torque damper? Not sure if there are any makers of this yet for the 370... nismo valve caps, front strut bar, gt spec under braces, race gas  lol. Muffler delete, painted door handles, cf wrapped A and B pillars... Im about out of ideas lol

Here is a link with a review.

I think it is only for iPhone but really do not know for sure.

the dash mount is a suction cup type with weird gummy stuff on it so it sticks super well on our rough plastic dash. That sucker does not budge!

I've had a few detectors and so far this one works pretty well, but as I use my phone for turn by turn directions (WAZE app is AWESOME BTW) the detector goes into background mode when i have WAZE running and I'm not sure I get all my warnings. I'm still playing with it and trying to figure out how to make it work best for my setup.

apple store has 14 day return policy so I've got a few more days to goof around with it.

got the first one done in about an hour. took a little bit to figure out how to strecth/heat/manipulate the material so you dont have any wrinkles

second one only took me about 45 min

the hardest part was definately wrapping around those tight radius curves at the front of the panel and figuring out what to do with the inset area for the window switch. just ended up trimming a nice line around it. trying to form 1 piece down inside that are was impossible

Looks good. I have some Di-Noc left over from my headlight project, and I was thinking of doing this as well. Looking at how yours came out, I think I will do it this weekend.

I was also thinking about the silver ring around the shifter. Based on the pliability of the Di-Noc, do you think it would work on that?

b1adesofcha0s 06-29-2012 11:59 AM

I tried to put Di Noc on my phone case and failed miserably :icon17:

It was hard to get it around the curved edges, but probably didn't help that I was using a hair dryer and scissors instead of a heat gun and xacto knife. :p

edub370 06-29-2012 12:59 PM

lol i was all about the hair dryer on high heat. get it really warm to where it becomes flexible. it took me about 45 min to an hour to do each. take your time and do a small section at a time (i started with the hardest curves first)heated up about 1" and stretched, formed, and dewrinkled. dont get discouraged tho. i messed up on my first attempt and had to peel off and start over. the learning curve on this stuff is quick tho once you figure out how to manipulate it.

i imagine the silver ring around the shifter would be a little tricky but coule be done. i would like to do mine as well. i think i may do part of my engine cover tomorrow (see kenchans album to see what im referring to).

I just gave up on it and decided to go in a different direction with my phone case :icon17:

Hey, GTMat is an official cheap mod! If you're tired of the drone of your aftermarket exhaust set up or just simply want a quieter cabin, give us a call. For $90 you can have enough GTMat to cover the hatch, doors, wheel wells and then some.
