i currently use a smaller 60gallon bin but only use it as a stationary trash can in the corner of my garage. need room to QD my cars with garage door closed. faaak!

Bummer. :shakes head:

yah, while i agree they look nicer than the dumbarse renters who toss trash at the end of their drive way unstrapped/taped/packed, it's going to be a lot of sacrifice for me. :ugh2:

dAvenue 02-15-2012 09:34 AM

kenchan - that sucks. We use the same large bins, too. I keep them outside and tucked away, though. There would be absolutely no room for them in our garage.

yah, i wish i had an area outside that can house these two, but no go for me. :shakes head: i think what's going to happen is i will make a corner shelf where i can stack the recycle bin above the garbage one. :shakes head:

Good Morning, Mr. Kenchan. :tiphat:

The city imposed those things on us also. We have 3 cans -- Garbage, Recycling, Yard. I don't mind them all that much except the guys who pick them up are lazy/sloppy/on drugs. They often leave the containers right in front of my driveway, which makes me have to stop, get out, and then move them out of the way. It is a minor irritation in the big picture I suppose, but pisses me off. I call and complain but it still happens every now and then.

mr.onzedge- ahhhh.. dang, that would suck... :shakes head: the trash pickup guys here apparently use these fork-lift kind of arms to pickup the bins without getting out of their truck (yes, lazy fat-arse midwestern style :icon17:)... i am hoping that in this case, the trash can will be left where it was picked up by the machine... but i am sure wind will push it in the middle of my drive way. :icon14:

Yeah, those guys don't give a rip about anything. See Exhibit A. It was a real PITA to put the tire back on, too.

Fire 02-15-2012 10:23 AM

Hey guys just got off work. It's kinda my weekend cause I have 3 days off. d you got pics of my car before I got it WTH? LOL I do love the aggressive look. I'm getting a coupe this time for 3 reasons. 1) I'm tired of not being able to track my car. The tracks hate verts without roll bars. 2) The vert ZL1 is $7000 more than the coupe. 3) The vert won't be out until the Fall. I got the sunroof so I can enjoy a little bit of an open top. Oh and I'm getting the 6mt cause thier 6at paddles sux. They turn with the steering wheel and it is possible to get them reversed so that the upshift is on the left and down one the right. Just imaginge your upshifting in a large sweeping turn and you down shift. WTH LOL.

kenchan 02-15-2012 11:03 AM

hey fire- sounds good. i prefer hard roof vs verts anyway. :D

yah, that AT paddle that spins with the steering wheel is super dumb. my honda fit has it too (wife drives it) and i too loose there the hell the litte plastic switch is when im making a left hand turns. they should just do with the shift lever sport mode.

dAvenue 02-15-2012 11:30 AM

Fire - I'm a cyber ninja. :icon17:

And that color combo is the bees knees.

Fire 02-15-2012 11:34 AM

Mr.kenchan, I feel you my friend, we started doing this kind of stuff in Toronto couple years ago, and alternate week with recycle bin and garbage, thus the garbage could stay inside the garage or whatever for two weeks!! Yup, sucks...

Hey Agent Fire, I am now curious are you a Triple ID Agent driving a 1950 VW from somewhere trying to steal the recipes from Agent kenchan to make Texax style Charboilburger-Sushi (yup, with sushi-rice in it)!!!!

LOL

BTW, have you check Road&Track website? They did a comparo between the ZL1 and the 2012 GTR, and they praise the ZL1 quite a bit!!!

Have a nice WED everyone. LOL

Ok, here is the deal. I have those exact rotors and am quite happy with them.

However, they have a small issue that is known as the "StopTech Rust Ring". Before you install them, go buy some high temperature clear (or colored if you want) paint. The ring develops between the hub and where the pads make contact and will appear very quickly after you start running them.

Anyway, mask off the hub and rotor surface, leaving about 1/2 to 3/4 " of the rotor exposed near the hub. Get it? I hope I am explaining this well enough. Then spray a couple of coats of the high temp paint. Do not worry about overlapping the paint a little on the pad contact area on the rotor as it will come off with a few brake applications.

I hope that this helps.

dAvenue 02-15-2012 01:03 PM

Mr. onzedge, are you referring to the concave ring around the hub? If so, the rusty rotor issue affects the Z1 rotors too.

I've got rust there. :ugh2:

happytheman 02-15-2012 08:37 PM

Had my Evo-R diffuser removed today so it could be sanded down and repainted, thus ridding myself of that pesky paint bubble!

Can you believe the guy at the shop initially tried to convince me that the paint bubble was "material" that was left over from the manufacturing process, and more specifically was from the release of the product from the mold. He then went on to tell me that if he grinds the "material" down, that the diffuser "is going to get porous"!

I was all like :ugh2: and said...ummmm, I'm pretty sure this piece was smooth when I gave it to you. In fact, I'm going to reach out to the group I belong to and inquire about this because they have purchased great numbers of these diffusers and will certainly give me the lowdown on the quality of the finish.

So at this point the gentleman brought his paint guys out, conferred over the piece and determined that, yes, it could be fixed but the peice would have to be removed from the car. I was all like...."so"? He then went on to say the peice would have to be entirely redone. I was all like...."so"?

Guess what the guy did next? He actually went on to change the subject, and asked me if my new exhaust had come in yet. I was all like...:gtfo2: and said "I guess we're at a bit of a stalemate regarding this piece, what are we going to do about it"? So then the dude kneeled down and began removing the diffuser.

I'll have it back and installed in two day's time.

Thanks for taking the time to read about my fun! :icon17:

kenchan 02-15-2012 08:40 PM
