Well, technically the OP would have to admit that the 370Z is copying the FT-HS concept.

I don't know about you guys but in 2015, according to Marty McFly and Doc Brown, where we're going we don't need roads. Forget Scion, supra and even Nissan cars, I'm getting myself the new 2015 Flying Ford mustamg Fox Body style. Hey now, ford already went back in time and altered a prior year model into the ford of today. I definitely see them doing it again in 2015
![]() The Scion an toyota might be flying cars which aren't anywhere close to a Z duhhhhhh hahahah

Its not fair to call these cars wannabe's simply because they all have a previous history like the Z. The original corollas were some fun azz "Punto-Ocho's" that really set it off for jdm tuning. The Z was the first car to get high recognition, but the tuner scene originally started with the toyota corollas and mazda rx3 etc... these cars were stereotyped as ricers back then but they shocked people on the track. Then came celica's supras then starions. Which the Mitsubishi starion founded the first ECU tunes back in 1982. As though nissans were affordable but much more expensive than the above. So toyotas, mazdas and mitsu's were the original poor mans rockets. Nissan was the more expensive niché car that saw tuners from older used models vs tthe other brands that were tuned from new or newer year models. Later on civic crx, and preludes entered the seen putting honda on the tuning map hardcore out of left field.
The FR-S is being compared to its corolla predecessor, the FT-86. One of the best original import tuner platforms of the early 80's. That hatchback was sick. I would love for mitsu to bring the starion back. ![]() PS. There is no resemblence between the FR-S and Z. I just don't see it. It looks like a sleeker version of the new scion tc. Actually, a lot of the Z's lines look like they were adapted from the Panamera.
The FR-S will not look as sexy as the Scion concept (unfortunately) and the FT-HS (which the FR-S is somewhat based on) will probably never be built. That said, all sports cars have similar lines, and there's only a few variations on the basic sports coupe shape out there. Supercars tend to look completely different, but regular sports coupes definitely have many lines in common. Really, all car manufacturers borrow from one another...

if you didnt know, the FR-S a.k.a ft-86 has been out for about 3 years (concept). The toyota supra has been out for about 6 years (concept). So technically speaking, these 2 cars has been made wayyyyy before the 370z.
