Its about time to do an oil change before putting her away for the fall, going with amsoil synthetic, will go back to Motul next summer.
Motul is excellent -- pricey and hard to get, but excellent.

There is nothing wrong with buying from eBay, as long as you are careful.

personally i think ebay is great. most people that find ebay shady is people who dont research the seller, look at reviews or feedback. just have common sense and ebay is magic!

My 240z would not be running without parts I find on eBay.

Buy a case of 12 bottles of Redline 5W-30 for $125.88 from Amazon.com with free shipping and no tax. Buy 2 Mobil 1 # 110 filters for about $12 each. That will cover 2 changes with some top off oil for about $75 per oil change for materials and you have one of the top 3 oils available and probably the best filter. Crawl under the car and bond with your vehicle. I'm 56 years old and still do it and know it's done right.
My car will only see dealer service when it's time for tranny & differential fluid changes or a radiator flush or brake/clutch or power steering fluid changes.
Not much else to do for the first 100K miles.
Spend your money on gas, good booze and women instead.
Turbonio likes this.

K&N HP-1008 (or -1010 for a compatible longer filter option) is also basically identical to the above-mentioned M1 110 filter. The filter review guys say they're actually made identically at the same factory, just branding and labeling differences. The K&N version is very slightly more expensive, but they put a little sheet metal nut on the end that makes it super easy to remove them, which I'm a fan of.

I got lifetime free oil changes and lifetime powertrain warranty through the dealer.

Its not the ester oil, but i could care less. Once the warranty is about up i will put on an oil cooler and start putting in synthetic myself. But it does save me a lot of money for the first couple years of ownership.

Same, lifetime oil and lifetime powertrain warranty (still a bit skeptical on that one). I dont know what esther oil is but if it's the best, then I doubt they're doing it.

Really the cost of the oil changes themselves is immaterial, within reason. It's not a huge component of the overall cost of the car. The important thing is getting it done right every time. Too many horror stories. Nobody cares about your car more than you do, it's a pretty simple task, and it's arguably the single most important maintenance task for your car's long term health.
