Totally agree on the low rpm lack of tq! I also had the 03 Z well. This is def a rev happy car. My 03 was the low rev, low tq monster. I think once you pass 4000 RPM on the 370Z, true power unleashes.

Agreed... 4k feels like a phase shift like the 350Z. I've driven a 2002 M3, and that thing hauls from 2500 rpm and beyond. Overall, it is still a thrill to drive since the 350Z wasn't as rev happy.

Today was the first time I drove it to work, so I was able to hit 60-65mph. Wow... this is very comfortable compared to the 350Z. Also, I'm not used to the speedo since the location of "40mph" on typical cars is like 60mph in the 370Z lol.

What I like is being able to pass ppl, with little or no effort from the car. My '05 Frontier had balls, but you could tell it had to work a little to pass.

I come from a 2005 STi running stage 2 set up. Had over 100 wtrq more than the 370Z and a little more whp also. Needless to say, the 370Z feels much slower than my STi did. Hopefully HFC's and a catback help make this car feel closer to how the STi felt. Either way I am still very happy with the car.

I know what you mean. I have a stage 2 WRX still and I swear I think it can beat the Z! And thats just a WRX, I could imagine the feeling with the STi would be much more obvious! Im still happy too though, the Z is more of a looker anyways.

You guys should try riding sport bikes for a true rush on pavement. The current big 4 litre bikes all are capable of 9.9s in the quarter just by strapping the front end down.

More than likely, you can blame the lack of low end torque on the VVTL system. There very well may be a method, ALA VTEC, that simply wont open the valves to their best capacity until passing a certain RPM, in which case when you're racing, you'll have quite a large power band to work with unless for some reason you enjoy living below 4K RPM...

And as for my 2 cents, I find this car almost too tame. My 2000 Camaro felt very raw (which is a good thing IMHO) - any gear would plant you into the seat, quite firmly lol. Yes, more than the 370 :-p. Going to this car is a great step up in the handling department, but I yern for at least 50-75 more WHP. Oh my, once I get there...

I also wish the VDC was 100% defeat-able, but as some have apparently said, even disabled, its still there watching over like Big Brother. Irritating, when I flip once switch on my 2000 and it was balls-to-the-wall time, and anything goes as long as you hit the Happy pedal...

My second car is an '04 WRX (no mods, just a short throw shifter, and upgraded wheels shod with 225 Bridgestone RE070s...which definitely improves handling). Subjectively, the acceleration of the Subie feels pretty close to the 370z, although some of that may be due to the sudden rush of power once the turbocharger kicks in. Still in the break in period on the Nissan, and having really pushed the revs yet, but I'm looking forward to that.

I have to go back to my "test" drive of the 370z. It wasn't anything like driving a 400hp turbod car but after driving my '02 Maxima (255hp) the 370z was fun as hell. Maybe is was due to driving a stick again or that fact that the motor just sounds GREAT! I didn't even turn the radio on still after my test drive. The sales guy was where are you going? I said I forgot to turn on the radio I will enjoy my drives (again).

I disagree with this. once i turn my VDC off, its off. i can spin, slide, burn out as much as i want, and it doesnt kick in. when its ON, thats another story. then its a PITA and there is not even a sec of slip allowed

The first time I floored it, I was a little underwhelmed. My impression was 'good place to start, needs more power, I hope it mods well'. And so far, it has modded well.

Oh, and mine likes to cruise at 110, which is slightly above 4000 rpm in 6th, and I'm pretty sure that's not a coincidence considering that's where the torque really comes alive. I have a tendency to slip to 130 if traffic opens up. Going from 110 to 130 is really, really easy with my car.

I'm still like that. I love music, but it's a constant battle between enjoying the tunes while I drive, and shutting it off to just listen to the car.
