this one looks like it might be around for a while as the wording about the numbered plate talks about including the model year. so it seems its a permanent trim to me

I called my dealer he seems to think he can get one in any of the standard colors. He's supposed to get back to me on the combinations.

Urgh. What to do... (was planning on buying in May).
As someone else in this thread noted, the Nismo 370Z does not have seam welding, which the Nismo 350Z did. That being said, here's what the Edmunds article listed earlier in this thread says:

"Underneath its showy aero bits, the 2009 Nismo 370Z is a pretty hard-core machine. It's not seam-welded like the 350Z Nismo, but its chassis has been stiffened to the point that mass dampers have been fitted to control vibration.

The Nismo Z gets hollow antiroll bars, so they're lighter than the ones on the regular 370Z. The front bar is just 15 percent stiffer, but the rear antiroll bar is 50 percent stiffer, so the Nismo 370Z should turn in so quick, it'll seem it all happened yesterday already. The front strut tower brace is stiffer, too.

The damping on the Nismo 370Z is much more aggressive, too, with 40 percent firmer dampers up front and a huge 140 percent increase in the back. Roll stiffness is up 15 percent, too. So, yeah, you're going to notice something's up as soon as you get into the Nismo Z.

Spring rates are 15 percent higher than the regular 370Z in front and 10 percent higher in the rear. We're cautiously hopeful the ride won't be as harsh as on the Nismo 350Z, but aren't about to place any bets. The Nismo has the same 13.7:1 steering ratio as ordinary 370Z coupes, while its brakes are identical to those of the Sport-package 370Z, featuring 14.0-by-1.3-inch front discs and four-piston fixed aluminum calipers and 13.8-by-0.8-inch rear discs and two-piston fixed calipers.

To get that 350-hp rating, Nissan revised the ECM tuning of the VQ37VHR engine and fitted a less restrictive exhaust. The exhaust pipes are laid out in an H configuration for the Nismo 370Z instead of the Y-pipe on the regular Z, and have, of course, been tuned to deliver a deeper sound.

The 350 hp peaks at 7,400 rpm versus 332 at 7,000 rpm in the normal Z. Redline remains 7,500 rpm, though, so you'll really have to work to use that extra power. Torque edges up 6 pound-feet to 276 lb-ft at the same 5,200-rpm threshold
."

Should be fun .

I guess I have to be more or less the first one to say it, but I hate all the exterior body changes of the Nismo. Maybe I'm just getting older, but to me it screams RICE!!!

It's like they've taken all these beautiful lines of the 370, which really made it look so much like some older Porsches, and stuck crap on it from all sides. That goes double for the side skirts. Then they made it longer again (after shortening the base car from the 350) w/ that ridiculous nose, and yes it does look like a celica. And by far, the worst, the absolutely worst thing about it, are those cuts in the rear bumper--way to royally fk up a car.
<./END OF RANT>

The wing is actually not bad, I wouldnt get it, but depending on what you like, i can totally see some people jumping on it. I dont like the wheels as much as I do the sports package wheels, wish I had those on my base. The red stitching interior is cool too.

I heard a rumor that NISMO is thinking about providing the new NISMO Z with an oil cooler. Since the car is more performance/track focused than the already amazing 370, it would make perfect sense IMO. Again this was just a rumor that I heard from the grape vine.

They basically have to. If they put out a NISMO that overheats on the track after four laps, people will laugh at them. If they call the car track focused, which they do, it needs the cooler. Period.

Looks better than the nismo 350 but still looks little rice ah roni. I bet a lot of teens would like it but I think people that are older won't like it as much. They should of made it more aggressive looking and not something a 16yr old would do to their car.

So what are the big difference between a Y pipe and H pipe configuration? Is there another configuration that would be better than the H and Y.

Agreed. You want to make a special version of the car, and you want it to look respectable, look at what BMW does with any of their M models (M3, M5, M6), don't take a truly beautiful car and make it look like a 16 yr old went to town on a civic.

What I don't get is that the Nissan literature lists the Nismo 370 at "Zero Lift" front and rear with a 0.3 coefficient of drag.

But Nissan also list the normal Sports Pack 370 model at "Zero Lift" front and rear at a drag coefficient of 0.29.

So, what is with the 370 Nismo's extra 7.1" length and all the extreme spoilers, diffusers etc. if they don't actually create downforce or improve drag values???

If the Nismo spoilers don't add anything but weight, I would like all the 370 Nismo chassis bits installed into the normal 370 Sports Pack's body.

The more I go back and forth on the decision, the more I am thinking that I'd like to get the Nismo, but don't want that nose. For one thing, it's going to be a hassle - you can tell from looking at it that it's going to scrape on every driveway around. Likewise, I can't imagine the rear wing helps out the already-bad rear view by much.

I actually think the regular Sport is probably a more livable car, especially in Oakland, where the roads are just trashed. The thing that drives me nuts about the non-NISMOs is that the wheel offset doesn't fit the fender flares. It's inexcusable for a car like this to have such a basic screw-up. Buying spacers has the potential to screw up the handling (Nissan didn't spacer them for a reason), and buying larger wheels means paying for a sport package, then bailing on one of the more expensive components.

Bah. I almost wonder if they screwed up the wheel offset and thinned out the exhaust pipe on the regular 370 just so they could sell more high-margin NISMOs.

That nose = Lame, Soft, non-sporty, Step Backwards

The stock 370z nose with the two slant-ins in the middle are spot on...gives the car that sportier, tougher, edgier look the 350z was sorely missing. This new nismo design is great all but for that 350z nose!
