Buy a prius...the arab world is in turmoil and a lot of oil comes from the region. Once that settles down, so will the prices.

Most of our oil is domestic and Canadian, we get a fraction of our oil from the middle east. Just like anything, it's speculation on future prices, and nothing is worse for the markets than instability and uncertainty.

Slabadoo! If you don't like oil prices and the obscene profits oil companies earn, then buy stock in oil companies! It is a great way to hedge yourself against increases in oil prices.

European countries impose a much higher tax on gas than the US (something like 6 times as much). It has been very effective in limiting consumption, and increasing sales of small cars (and their small cars have even better economy/less power than our versions here).

Americans have short memories. When gas was high about 3 years ago people complained bitterly, sold their SUVs and kept bugging me at the pump asking me how many MPGs my MINI Cooper got. As soon as prices dropped, well hello Escalade!

Now on to potholes: They should indeed burn in Hell. Then magically fill themselves.

The potholes are a freaking nightmare at the moment, I can't even drive my car for fear of destroying the suspension while dipping into the craters.

As for the gas prices, I'm willing to accept the price going up if it means less ugly SUV's on the road. Oh and this summer I'll be towing my car behind a Chevy 2500HD getting about 10 mpg and paying $100 a fill up.

meh, some big truck/SUV drivers actually have a need for the size of their vehicles. But they're usually willing to take the higher gas prices, as they have no other choice.

I'd rather see trendy SUV's than the ugly Prii and Smart Fortwo's, though.

Well i said yesterday in a previous post, get ready for higher prices. All the major banks and investment firms have increased their exposure/investments in oil for this summer, hinting at 2008 gas prices or higher. Here is the article

if your gas went up a dollar in the past few weeks, then you should be happy because you're probably in one of those states that has pretty low gasoline taxes. I've been paying 3.55+ a gallon for 93 for months. now its at 3.91 in NY

Lets also be glad that we can alter our driving habits, SUVs get awful mileage no matter what, we can throw it in 6th gear and cruise and maybe get 26-27 miles to the gallon the highway. Then when gas goes down its pedal to the medal again ( yes i am American and this is the way i think ).
