What the hell happened to the price gas?!

if your gas went up a dollar in the past few weeks, then you should be happy because you're probably in one of those states that has pretty low gasoline

Lets also be glad that we can alter our driving habits, SUVs get awful mileage no matter what, we can throw it in 6th gear and cruise and maybe get 26-27 miles to the gallon the highway. Then when gas goes down its pedal to the medal again ( yes i am American and this is the way i think ).

26/27 i think may be a bit unrealistic, but i agree. After using the gas cubby app for almost a year, i've come to the conclusion that no matter how i drive (Which tends to be half highway/half local, with a fair amount of spirited driving on a daily basis, i get 19 mpg, which is acceptable. i could shift at like 2.5k and always use cruise control and maybe i'll get a few more MPG, but i dont think its worth the hassle and not enjoying the car.

as far as SUV's being used for other purposes besides transport, that's a valid point. however, i rarely see an SUV with more than 1 person in it, and its usually a mom driving somewhere.

I drive like 70-80 % on the highway and average like 21-24 mpg per tank depending on how I drive. My commute is usually filled with traffic and speed cameras so there's not much time for spirited driving. Just on the highway alone, I was getting almost 30 mpg on my was home from PA when I bought the car. It was 150 miles and pretty much all highway and I stayed in the 60-70 mph range the whole time. I have the 7AT, btw, and I think it gets a little better gas mileage than the 6MT.

I get 26-27mpg on the highway often. The city stuff is what kills you. Below is an average of what I got after about 35min on the highway.
