I just saw that, but left the link. Can you link me to the stock GT-R that ran a better time, please? All it needs is one superior pass for me to concede the point. Even if it's in perfect weather. ;)

m4a1mustang 10-14-2010 08:52 AM

That's prety cool but evo is now running a full on drag car. Procharger and a C4 tranny.

Still cool that they were easily in the 10s with only bolt ons, though. That's what I like.

On their facebook they said the only mods are pistons and rods/C4 transmission... am I missing something?

It has a procharger on it with only engine upgrades are pistons and rods, basically saying the engine is built very well but still need a couple upgrades for peace of mind.

Red370 10-14-2010 09:02 AM

if its doing 8's with a centrifugal supercharger (much less torque at lower RPMs), i'm wondering what it would do with the Whipple 2.3L blower... or a Kenne Bell Blowzilla 2.8 or 3.6...

theDreamer 10-14-2010 09:03 AM

Well Evo has one on their facebook page for sale:

Yeah, the only mods to the block are pistons and rods for strength. Then there's the Procharger and exhaust.

Still, 8.89 @ 148 is pretty badass and they got there pretty quickly.

I think for practical purposes, though, the 10 second passes with a CAI, tune, and exhaust is most impressive.

I'm not sure, but chances are they are launching well into boost and it stays up there, so low-end is not a concern.

damn, i'm shocked to see that the Kenne Bell is actually cheaper than the Whipple and its making more power:happydance:

ha, I know right. Well i'm going to be getting 10 grand for my re-enlistment bonus, its going to be devoted solely to a twin screw and suspension/wheels. I havent decided on what kit I want to go with yet, the Kenne Bell is cheaper and more attractive underhood than the Whipple and makes more power (they have larger displacement blowers), its looking more and more like the kit i'm going to be going with. Looks like im going to end up buying the kit here and having the Army ship it to germany with my household goods, they have to CARB test before they ship the car to Europe, and I guarantee if it was boosted, the Stang would have to stay stateside :(

shadoquad 10-14-2010 10:12 AM

I need to thank m4a1mustang. He told me about the visual cues to tell the new GT apart from the new V6 (used to be an obvious hood scoop).

So now as I coast on the highway in my Zed, I don't feel like I'm surrounded by bad@$$ 5.0's. I can just look over, see the front/rear fascia, the pipes, or the obvious lack of 5.0 badge (which I knew about before), and my winkie seems long enough.

i'll tell ya what though man, that new V6 is putting up similar numbers to the Z...

I can deal with "similar".

The 5.0 is a caged bull. That's a little harder to accept. :ugh2:

m4a1mustang 10-14-2010 10:24 AM

The V6 Stang is certainly quick enough to take advantage of a poor driver (or a mistake) in the Z, but it's really not that close. I think they are running high 13s stock, so it's plausible that they could snooker a Z at the strip, but in like-for-like conditions, nope.

m4a1mustang 10-14-2010 10:33 AM

OK, I guess they are a little bit closer. The stock V6PP cars are dipping into the mid 13s.

Hey, not my fault the Titanic is better than a 370z.

We'll get DiCaprio in one and the balance will swing back to Nissan.

m4a1mustang 10-14-2010 10:43 AM

Definitely a head turner. They went to the bottom of the sea to check it out! Even made a movie that had boobies in it!

ProfessorDave 10-14-2010 12:35 PM

Wait! What age group did the magazine article say should be driving the Titanic?!? And you would you measure performance? 0-sinking? Time to quarter mile (ocean depth)? Seat bolstering (which probably makes a difference when the vehicle makes a gradual but extreme shift from horizontal to vertical)?

Why would you compare a $45K car to an $80K car? That is like me comparing the Z06 to a 370Z. Same price-spread. $35K vs. $67K.

According to one member on this board, the 370Z feels much faster in a straight line than the Z06.

closer hp wise

Red370 10-15-2010 09:56 AM

Anybody read the recent issue of MotorTrend? it has a review of the Boss in there, and they're claiming a 0-60 of 4.1 and a price estimation of 40-45k, but damn, 4.1 seconds, that sick!
