It's not the steering, it's the way the rear suspension is on the Corvette. You feel like you are in control of the 370, the Corvette can snap loose at any moment. The Z has quicker steering, but it doesn't hold the road much better than the Corvette. On the non Z06 C6, the suspension is way softer too.

I've done autocross with both my 370z and the C6 vette and Z just blows it away. The steering of the Z is much better and for tight corners the Z is just much better. Now on long sweeping turns that you would see on a road course or ....um.. fwy.... the Vette is very comfortable there.

I'll say this, the Vette does a lot of things better than the Z, but what the Z does better than the Vette makes up for it. Driving the Z just feels so much better. I still miss the explosive power of the Vette though. And if Nissan doesn't do something like FI for the next gen Z I'll be getting the next gen Vette.

That's a stupid feature. Of course the Nissan has a metal rod poking you in the back if you try to lean back

Yeah, I remember reading that it was designed to help you, but I don't remember how.

My opinion is "whatever". It doesn't bother me, and it was made that way, so I don't much care. It's not like it's a flaw.

IIRC it's an anti-whiplash measure in case of an accident. The idea being that your back being forced into your seat from a rear end collision will keep your neck from violently jerking back.

Then again, I've drunk a lot since I read my owner's manual. I also remember a section on Hobbits and a section about taking the CHFI test.

Yeah, that was my thinking on it to. It's obvious it was like that for a reason so I was not worried about it.

One of my considerations was a 06 vette with the Z51 pkg. at around the same price I payed for my Z, but I needed something different and I still have my 97 WS6 to drive around.
