FWIW, an 5qt oil leak would be obvious. If the plastic underbody cover is still in place, the oil would pool in it. Some would end up leaking onto the ground, but there would be some shred of evidence.
If the car burned 5qts, then you'd have seen a cloud of smoke coming out the exhaust. What was the timing between your last oil change and this discovery? I wouldn't think you'd get more than a mile or two without oil before the engine seized. Something doesn't add up.
