I have seen a few of these installed, and I keep asking myself if it's worth the trouble to do that install? Merely eye-candy right? hmmmmm... I go back and forth.... do you like it? changes the look of the interior of the car?

If you consider turning a few phillips head screws and 10-20 minutes of your time "trouble", then no, it's definitely not worth it.
It takes me longer to wash my car.
That said, it doesn't do anything other than give you a "racier" looking start button with a harder, smoother plastic feel versus the subdued look and brushed, softer feel of the white button.

More pics and ridiculously easy DIY here in case you haven't seen it:

Thanks Luna... still, some work involved plus cost of the part. So was just wondering if the folks who have it installed like the looks of it (over some period of time) within the interior.

After spending the $40 to buy the part and turning a few screws for 15 minutes, I don't give it much thought, to be honest. I push it, then I drive the car. It's not like I sit in the car and fap to my red button.
I am happier with it installed, though. If I had designed the car, it would have come with a red button and red brakes to begin with.

Washed the car just before dusk. Took it for a quick spirited spin and had to rewash rear fenders. Would those stock mud flaps have helped?

I am very happy with the look the red GT-R start button gives the interior. I like the look much better than the stock start button. Otherwise it operates the same as the OEM button. In the grand scheme of car modding it is a very inexpensive mod that requires minimal time and effort to switch out. That's the best kind of car mod.

Not to quibble but the best mod in my opinion is one that improves preformance. True that $40 might not get you much.

Didn't you know that the GT-R start button was good for 15 rwhp. Got to be the cheapest performance mod out there.

You are correct, but I don't know of many $40 mods that will improve performance very much either. Well maybe the urethane bushings I put on my Stillen sway bars make some difference in the performance of the sway bars and they cost less than $40.
