He gave me his laptop to fix earlier this week and I was going to do it for free bc I like the people but now I dont have much of a choice but to charge them so I can get this **** fixed...

You could give him the choice to pay for the laptop or the scratch, his choice!

How do you know he's responsible?

I have a couple door dings too - sucks.

Im in Baltimore where its been snowing like crazy over the past week. The car hasnt moved in quite sometime. This morning I was out shoveling and got the snow off the top of the car. There were no scratches to be seen as I am super carefull around the car and havent even had it a month. I go outside about an hour ago to finish shoveling and their car that was parked next to mine on the passenger side of my car is gone and thats when I see the scratch. So by my powers of deduction it seems pretty straight foward as to who the culprit is.

Im sure it wont be that hard to fix its just the principle of the matter

if it was carelessness or inconsideration then he should be made to pay for it.

well he is your neighbor and you seem to be in good terms with him/her...plus you didn't see it and he/she says they didn't' do it...now, is it worth tarnishing some of that relationship with them over a scratch? if you knew for sure without a shadow of a doubt that they did it then by all means charge them for it...but if you don't have definite proof and you do charge them for it but they didn't really do it then they will be sore about it for sure and might ruin your relationship...tough call

I'm kidding about cutting the brake lines, btw. Just to be clear.

I'd F with his laptop but, then again, I'm pretty vindictive.

yeah but since you park your car outside, and your neighbor knows you care about your car, so if you get back at him, he could put another scratch on your car
