Precisely why I went with the base and built it into my own. It will outperform ANY stock Nismo Z on the planet at a fraction of the cost of a new Nismo.

I could have easily bought a Nismo, but I wasn't willing to waste money on a bunch of junk I didn't want.

And to me, those "upgrades" aren't true upgrades to me.
Wrong, no syncro rev match for the base model. The Nismo does have additional rigidity added that you don't see and it also has a different suspension.

That's why I said the only "real" difference. I'm not talking about the slightly tuned Nismo suspension, and don't even consider the stupid syncro rev. That thing is totally useless unless you don't know how to drive.
Zingston and Falconquey like this.

Current 370z trims available:
  • Base = $30k
  • Heratige = $31k
  • Sport = $34k
  • Sport Touring = $38k
  • Nismo = $45k

Base is uh, basic
Sport adds $4,000 in performance upgrades
Touring adds $4,000 worth of interior upgrades
Nismo adds stiffness to the Sport goodies

Is there a reason this is on page 7?

Sport adds $4k of stuff no one wants...

Weak VLSD which ends up being an open diff after a little heat
Bose system with noise cancellation that everyone replaces
Syncro rev - no comment
Rear spoiler that does nothing

Base and Sport suspension is identical

Only advantage of the Sport are the larger, better brakes, and possibly the 19" Rays.

Nismo springs and shocks are totally different from Sport, adds Yamaha chassis dampeners, and additional bracing on front shock tower brace. Also better wheels and functional aero package.

Not trying to continue beating a dead horse, just tired of people making the Sport to be a superior car to the base, which it isn't. Some of you guys make it sound like it's the same as going from a Corvette Stingray to a Z06.

Speak for yourself

When it was unveiled on the 370Z, the sports package was one of the best valued dealer performance packages (w/o HP increase) on the market. That $3500 gets you a huge amount of performance upgrades. Compared to the extreme Nismo markup (for an aero kit, some dampers, and slightly varied exhaust and tune and suspension) the value is far superior IMNSHO.

People spend the extra $ for the sports package for a reason, so to say “no one wants” is bit of an erroneous statement. I think the spoiler/wheels/interior is well worth the extra and the calipers add a nice touch to the car. I went from a basic base ‘07 350Z to an ‘09 7AT touring/sports/nav and now a ‘13 6MT touring/sports/nav, and I personally don’t regret the upgraded purchase.

In regards to the statement about people with the add-on’s feeling superior compared to their base counterparts, well, I’d say give them the respect for spending the extra $. In retrospect, I always get the feeling that the owners without the sports package are bitter and resent the owners with the sports package (ie buyer’s remorse), but that’s just my opinion. I know I was when I was driving the base 350Z.
