Car shopping when you've gotta have a car SUCKS! Lol.....I've looked at a lot of cars. I've driven a Lexus RCF which was badass, but I don't want to spend $45-50k on a daily driver. It was a sweet car though! I drove a GT350 last week. It sounded like a race car (awesome), but honestly, it felt big, heavy and not that fast. I think I have narrowed it down to a Z Sport, Z Nismo....and out of nowhere...a Lexus ISF! Lol...are any of you familiar with the Lexus ISF? I have read a ton about them and there are lots of positive comments...and negative comments are VERY rare! Your thoughts?

You could just get a beater, wait for the next iteration of the Z lineup, or like mentioned before spring for a Supra (few mods and I expect 400HP boosted will be no problem). I am considering this route.
You have so many options. I will say this about my 2017 Nismo, I love driving it, it is a true sports car, you feel the road, the gears, the suspension out the box is amazing, but it is nothing more than a sports car IMHO, you will not get any luxuries and features of cars at the same price point. I recently drove my moms 2018 Accord....and was impressed! Like WTF although it felt heavy, it had a ton of features that I would love my Z to have, again the Z is a true sports car. Same thing with the new Camaro and Vette, features that I would hope the Nismo or any 2015 plus Z would have. My Z is not meant for comfort or luxury, it is meant to be driven by a true driver. However, you would think it would have some of the features of the cars being released today at its price. If this car is going to be your daily, and you want something soon, get a used RC or IS, if it is a weekend car then go for the Nismo IMHO. The ISF is a sick ride, if I could have afforded it at the time back then I would have jumped on it, my other baby was an 2010 IS350...I absolutely loved that car and will probably get another IS soon as a second car. Either way good luck and glad you are alright, you still should see a doctor and have a thorough exam if you have not done so already. Let us know what you decide, I am excited for you on your next car journey. |

It all really depends what you're looking for. If you want a stout daily then you have a ton of options. You have a specific budget and quite a few solid vehicles fit that bill. Have you looked at the Genesis or the Stinger? What do you think about Dodge and the Hemi? If I read correctly you weren't a fan of the Mustang, what about the Camaro or new Infiniti...the range and scope of automobiles is so vast and you have quite a few exciting options. Good luck with whatever you choose. I still feel that the Camaro and Mustang are too great of a vehicle and bargin to be completely overlooked. Happy hunting brother!

I've never ridden in or even seen a Lexus ISF. Are they big, luxurious cars with big power? Do they handle anything close to a Z? The IS350's look pretty good too, but it's going to be hard not having the quickness, power, and handling of a Z car. I love the Z06 but I put about 25k a year on a car around the city and I want something fun to drive. At this point, I could really care less about a lot of depreciation if the car will just hold up well. My last Z didn't hold up so well and was always having small issues. And I don't want to put that many miles on a $50k+ car. After thinking about it today, I'm kind of leaning towards another Z car and maybe a Z06 for the garage this summer!?! And a lower miles Lexus ISF is HARD to find...nationwide! Anymore thoughts? |

ISF is pretty quick, supposed to be an M3 competitor at the time. Almost certainly faster than a Z, probably drives like a bigger car though (curb wt around 3800lbs). It sounds pretty awesome though, it's got a Japanese v8.
Also, why not the standard vette w/ z51? Plenty of power coming from a Z and can probably put a bigger cam and tune it if you want more juice. I'd say the Corvette is the bigger/powerful American version of the Z. I think the Z06 is overkill personally. My buddy has one and it's an absolute animal, but it's kinda lame not being able to row the gears much. I'm actually thinking about downsizing my motorcycle for the same problem lol. When 2nd tops out at 110 or something, there's no way to really enjoy the gearbox. Also, have you considered a used 135i? Those can be boosted up to pretty crazy levels. My friend has one that's just shy of 500whp, just tune, intercooler, and exhaust. |

Corvette seems like it could fit the bill, almost brand new probably. Last edited by Shoeshear; 02-13-2019 at 06:16 PM. |

A 35k-40k is a great budget for a nice car nowadays. If i had that budget cars that would come to mind are 987 Cayman S,Boxster, Z06, e90 M3. If you are looking for a more balanced car than the Z that offers supreme handling the 987 Cayman/boxster S is the way to go IMO. If you want power then go for the Z06, Camaro or M3.

Having said that, they have one of the best sounding V8's with a 8400 RPM redline. A corvette or something with torque would make a much more livable daily driver. A C6 grand sport would make an excellent choice. Last edited by Stvee; 02-14-2019 at 07:52 AM. |
