For the $40-50k range, I'd also be looking at Q60. That VR30 is an animal and has been proven to be underrated. Z1 baselined a bone stock 1 and it put 304whp/311wtq down, even though they're only supposed to make 300/300 crank, and with nothing more than a tune, it made 411/453. It's a nice car and for $600 in "mods" you can add 100/150. That's a helluva hp/$ gain.

The Supra probably won't be available for awhile + cost way more than it's valued for sometime after that until prices and stock setttle. Plus other reasons not to buy it..
Spring for a Z or Infiniti since they are similar if you want that familiarity . Lexus and Jags are nice too imo.

Glad to hear you are OK, but to get checked out. Seeing an accident about to happen might cause you to brace/stiffen for the impact.
When I think what I might get, the C7 vettes come to mind... might find a nice one use.

I'd definitely be looking at a used M2 in that price range. The motor on the M2 makes like 380whp with a tune and exhaust. BMW's aren't nearly as unreliable as people like to say. They're just expensive if you can't do any of the work yourself and have to take it to a dealership for everything. Parts themselves aren't any worse than Nissan parts.
The most unreliable car I've had so far was a VQ40 Xterra and I've had a lot of cars that were supposedly unreliable. (2 M3's, 135i, GTI, Evo IX to name a few) |

I would go for a newer Camaro. Plenty of power right out the gate and quite a few versions to pick from. Same with Mustang. At that price range you can get quite a car for little from the big domestic 3 these days. Glad you're ok man!

If you get the SS. Get ready to go through tires like a mufugga. I'm on my 3rd set with 17000 miles. I finally said screw it to summer tires and got michelin ps3as. See how that goes. I'd like for my tires to last more than 5 months. Lol.

Man if I was currently in the market that SS camaro would be top of the list. You get a bunch of car for a fair price. I was looking at a few older SS and Z packages and man....very very solid cars. Oh and Unknown you just gotta lead foot brother! Hahahahahah

The ZL1 is just a ridiculous amount of car. I can imagine 650ft lbs of tq. I'd be going thru tires every 3000 miles if i had a ZL1. ![]()

I was rear ended in the summer and took my rear whe clean lff. The rays are bullet proof though.
Glad you are ok. As others mentioned do yourself a favor and get checked. Next car? Heh... i got a 19' nismo in September a month later. Sat on a cheque for 2 weeks before saying "i need a sports car" Options were a used m2 or the z. M2 i just couldnt swallow new they go for 90k and 2 years old with 40000km was asking 55k (wtf that depreciation) I got my z otd on the road for substantially less msrp in terms of usd pricing. Glad you're good - but yeah, most definitely get yourself checked out make sure something doesn't come up after the fact.
If you loved the Z before it was totaled - maybe check out a Nismo. I winded up going from a 2010 Z sport to a 2017 Nismo. The main difference that I found was that the suspension setup felt much better in the Nismo than the sport - although 4700 miles to my 98k miles is a lot to ask for when comparing the 2 so there is that. Also - I can use that little side window that got obstructed by the head of the sport seats. Also, the recaros are something that I really really love in the Nismo - so if you were happy with the Z before hand - i would say you could get a nice slightly used one for low 30s if not high 20s. Add in some mods and a tune and you'll be back in biz. While I think the Mustangs and the Camaros are nice - I just couldn't get one unless it was a ZL1 or a GT350 (just my .02). Certainly seems like the previously mentioned cars would all be up your alley. GT350, ZL1, Camaro SS 1LE. Obviously GT350 and ZL1 would probably have to be used, but I think if your budget is that high and your goal is performance, there's no argument that 'Murica is doing pretty well right now.
Also, sucks about the Z. Glad you're alright. I would go get examined, they'll at least do a spine X-ray just to make sure you don't have any fractures. And you'll probably have some degree of whiplash injury if you got hit hard enough. Rest up! Last edited by Shoeshear; 01-25-2019 at 09:51 AM. |
