Is that the only thing that is holding you back? There are plenty of upgrade options for this part.
nis350 and sx moneypit like this.

I was hoping they would end this once in for all by either ending production or planning for the z35....not by updating the current z34 with some minor stuff here and there.

Pricing needs to come down about 10k. No way a NISMO Z is worth 45k by a long shot. If Nissan is dead set on keeping the 370z around they need to be lowering the price, not raising it or maintain it. The other cars in the 40-45k available are just too potent

Your $10k price cut is way OD. No other car in this price range has this level of body bracing and suspension tuning. We're the only coupe in the price range with hydraulic steering. The improvements on the clutch were made without a price hike. I think that's great. I think the Z Nismo is not a horrible deal. I'd say they're about $3,000 overpriced. The Yamaha dampers, rays wheels, brake cooling $5,000 recaros. You want that for $35k and 350HP, with a pretty striking body kit, with that grey and red accent line that's hand painted in an EXPENSIVE enamel paint?

I think the nismo is a decent deal at the moment. I used to think like you and then I dissected all the engineering that goes into a Nismo.

They can't be had $42k street price. That's just crazy, for what it is.

I don't like the price either but no one makes a two seater sportscar that delivers like the Nismo in the price range. We can gripe all we want about keeping up with the pony cars but Nissan doesn't give a rats a$$ about that because there is no way for them to complete with the big three they volume of sales are way to high.

I think that is the point....these are not in the same category as the pony cars. They have 4 seats and weigh over 3700 pounds last I checked. Different driving feel and dynamic. No the Z has no real competitor and Nissan sells around 6000 a year which is pretty good for a rather impractical 2 seat sports car that has been around for almost a decade. Besides based on the rumors coming out of Nissan many on hear will not like the next Z if it offers no manual or isn't naturally aspirated or heaven forbid is some type of sporty crossover.

Well one of the bragging rights for this generation Z when it came out was that it was faster and better than the Mustangs and Camaros of the same year. Now it's been surpassed.

I'm just mind boggled that the Nismo edition (which isn't really 'special' anymore bc they made it a trim level for numerous cars) is close to $50k. I mean, anyone who is considering a new vs used - it's hard to justify getting a Nismo edition for that much. I mean, the minor upgrades here and there - still doesn't do anything to me. Either bring on a new Z35 or at least look to increase the HP and performance in the car in general. I feel like this car hasn't changed (bc it hasn't) in the last 9 years.

**Disclaimer - I LOVE my Z - I wouldn't trade it for anything else at the moment but if I was looking at a new Z - I could easily cross shop it against better vehicles out there for either a little more or much less money. Just saying.

That's why they make a base and a sport. Those insignificant mods and minor updates on the nismo, keep your car from flexing on track. That's race car shyt. Not even our competitors come with that. Those are mods that are typically outsourced in the aftermarket and cost about $8,000 by themselves. Then you get the akebono lsd, recaros and now the exedy clutch.

If you're not into religious tracking? You buy the sport model. Nissan didn't add 18 HP to the nismo to make it faster. They added 18HP to compensate for the extra weight of EXPENSIVE body bracing. So if you're not on track? You won't be losing out if you buy a sport!

Let's not forget the Nismo has different shocks, Yamaha dampers, different tires and wheels. I think that street price being $42,000 is a really good deal.

Getting rid of the base nismo was dumb as fukk though. They just alienated the hardcore enthusiast who cares about taking 50lbs out their car.

Do you think this will negatively or positively impact the prices for new, non-tech nismos sitting on the lot? Just curious. It could be viewed either way:
1. Customer wants non-tech. Nissan doesn't make them anymore. Supply is low + demand is high = higher price/ less room to bargain
2. Reports show more tech models have been sold. Nissan discontinues non-tech version. Dealerships are looking to get rid of the non-tech nismos to get tech versions in.

...Does my rational make sense?

I think non enthusiasts buy the Nismo as a look at me car, so the need for non tech is low. This is why you find so many used New Nismo cars. People buy them for show. Find out the ride is really hard. They're too stupid to realize Swift Spec -R will fix that and improve performance. And they sell the Nismo. Hence a wide selection of used Nismo's since 2016. The non tech nismo will be in high demand a few years down the line, when REAL enthusiasts want a used Z nismoin the $20k range. They will prefer the non tech model.

These mid life crisis fukk boys buying the Nismo now, don't even know what they bought.

Sad part is, if I needed a car, like don't even have my Z, and my budget was in the 45k range, I would be thinking about the Nismo.

It's not so much bang-for-buck but what I probably would like most in the end, barring a killer deal on used C7 or something.
