2018 370Z pricing announced

I posted in the pricing and ordering sub topic, but figure I would link it here as well for more exposure to the community.

Interesting they went with a 'performance' Exedy clutch. Also trying to play the RJM game and offering the nismo with a light pedal effort version..

Will be interesting to hear some feedback on this..

Wow, 2018 nismo tech is 66lbs heavier compare to 16 and 17 nismo tech.

I expected this update on the Nismo. I couldn't imagine the "Heritage Edition" couldn't get a racing clutch without it going in the Nismo.

What I think is slightly more exciting are the Dunlop Sport MAXX tires. 20% less rolling resistance should give the Z a pretty nice bump in acceleration. The 2016 Z averaged about 4.9 seconds with the manual. Between the clutch and tires I'm expecting to see a dramatic improvement in manual acceleration and... a mild improvement in the auto. We should see a consistent 4.5 on the auto to 60. Hopefully about 4.7 on the manual. The nismo already gets stronger acceleration over 60meh, as the 18 HP tune affects the car at high revs, not low revs. I'm glad I waited for a 2018. As soon as there's one to test drive, I will hop in and just order. Fukk it. The Nismo is a bigger improvement over the sport, I think?

What boggles me is 2018 price. I think they killed off the no nav nismo. I didn't want that nav. It looks outdated like mad.

UPDATE.

Careful reading shows they cancelled the base nismo. Bad call Nissan. I guess nav was the biggest seller but shyt. Some enthusiasts don't want ANY tech.

New color for regular Z's. Nismo neglected again on a colorless palette. I'm debating I should go auto or get a manual. If I get a manual I guess the 2018. If not, I can get a great deal on a 2017 base sitting on a lot.

Anyone buying a non nismo should get passion red. It has a smoke clearcoat. Should look hot.

I also found this interesting. I may keep this in mind for replacements if I don't decide to go wider..

Thanks for pointing that out. They probably made a lot more updates than written. Well have to wait and see. I think it's sound deadening and some type of interior or spoiler upgrade? Maybe?

babyzilla 07-11-2017 04:07 PM

I was hoping they would end this once in for all by either ending production or planning for the z35....not by updating the current z34 with some minor stuff here and there.

wow, so happy i got the 17 non-tech nismo when i did!

Pricing needs to come down about 10k. No way a NISMO Z is worth 45k by a long shot. If Nissan is dead set on keeping the 370z around they need to be lowering the price, not raising it or maintain it. The other cars in the 40-45k available are just too potent

I don't like the price either but no one makes a two seater sportscar that delivers like the Nismo in the price range. We can gripe all we want about keeping up with the pony cars but Nissan doesn't give a rats a$$ about that because there is no way for them to complete with the big three they volume of sales are way to high.

I think that is the point....these are not in the same category as the pony cars. They have 4 seats and weigh over 3700 pounds last I checked. Different driving feel and dynamic. No the Z has no real competitor and Nissan sells around 6000 a year which is pretty good for a rather impractical 2 seat sports car that has been around for almost a decade. Besides based on the rumors coming out of Nissan many on hear will not like the next Z if it offers no manual or isn't naturally aspirated or heaven forbid is some type of sporty crossover.

Your $10k price cut is way OD. No other car in this price range has this level of body bracing and suspension tuning. We're the only coupe in the price range with hydraulic steering. The improvements on the clutch were made without a price hike. I think that's great. I think the Z Nismo is not a horrible deal. I'd say they're about $3,000 overpriced. The Yamaha dampers, rays wheels, brake cooling $5,000 recaros. You want that for $35k and 350HP, with a pretty striking body kit, with that grey and red accent line that's hand painted in an EXPENSIVE enamel paint?

I think the nismo is a decent deal at the moment. I used to think like you and then I dissected all the engineering that goes into a Nismo.

They can't be had $42k street price. That's just crazy, for what it is.

Picked my 2018 Passion Red one month ago today. It's the Touring Sport Coupe as it's referred to in Canada & the only one I've seen, including checking most of the local dealers. Lovin it so far, lots of new high tech stuff compared to my ex 73 240Z ! Looking forward to the first coat or two of polish to add some depth to the colour.I'm hoping it has the "improved" clutch after all of the threads I've read recently regarding the cs:tiphat:
