Installed my FI CB NR exhaust and man oh man did the car come alive!

ITGUY 06-10-2018 12:13 PM

Installed my Invidia cat_back exhaust. Rolled tips.

Took 3 hours working slow and using ramps, lifting front and back as needed.

Fitment was top notch and quality is very good. No adjustment needed for tips.

Sound is louder than stock, but not obnoxious and really perks up above 4k.

Extremely happy with everything so far.

Ian B 06-11-2018 12:20 AM

Android auto Sony head unit installed. Very happy and sounds great. Replaced cabin air filter. Previous owner must not have done it in years as lint like the one from dryer machine was there, very dirty filter full of leaves.

I added a seibon hood to the ride. It's the gtr style and fit pretty well.

bthomas87 06-12-2018 11:06 AM

Noticed I was missing a couple valve stem caps so I bought some Z caps to replace them.
Also cleaned up the engine bay.

Replaced Z side fender blinker duplicators.

Replaced vanity mirror lights w leds.

Dropped off car for polish but, the hood has lost the clear coat and will need repainting. Person who had it before me did not keep up w paint much. The hood when I got it was dull and looked like a machine gun went through it with all the paint chips. Possibly previous owner drove behind eighteen wheeler for hours, ugh. The rest of the paint will be polished with no issues.

Changed oil (mobil 1 0-30), changed filter, replaced body snap on engine shroud that broke, checked tire pressure.

Good news! Not burning oil, michelin A/S 3+ tires are holding pressure. (the factory original tires wouldn't keep pressure, I had the low pressure alarm go off three times before I got rid of them last year. Started keeping an air pump in the car I got so paranoid. When that low pressure alarm goes off, don't ignore it! I found the tires were down as low as 25psi the one time)

Drove by body shop to see Shakira had her hood off while being repainted. God, I miss her.

Bought an overpriced sun shield since it's nearing the 100s and cut it up to fit with my detector lol.

Gaffers tape as trim for now. That'll be something I meant to be temporary, but will be there forever.

Also gaffers tape on the detector to black out the huge bright white model name on top lol.

Mystique 06-14-2018 02:20 PM

Haha, nice! I went with the dash designs retractable sun shade. So much damn more convenient.

Ha ha, my primary car is a 2018 Toyota Camry xse and it's name is predator just like the alien from predator movie. The front of the Camry looks like the face of predator without the mask.

Car has 2600km (1615 miles).

Changed oil w/ Mobil 1
Changed filter w/ K&N
Installed Zspeed aluminium splash guard.

Factory oil filter required wrench to remove, was ridiculously tight.
Factory oil was surprisingly dirty. Pretty dark brown (i know, shows detergents are working) but I was surprised.

Best part is oil temps...on a day like today, 86 degrees F and a 30 minute drive, my temps are usually at the 110C mark (230f). This doesn't bother me as it is fine, but today they only hit 94C to 100C (201F to 212F).

I wont make any claims as to WHY....could have been fresh oil, far better filter, the Zspeed splash tray, or maybe the engine decided to loosen up some.

Next week tranny oil & diff fluid when my Redline order arrives.

Pete

www.pure-gas.org can help you find stations in the US and Canada with no ethanol. Some of them go up to 100 octane.

In my experience some of the listings are out of date, so YMMV.

I've tried it on road trips. I set my annual Christmas pilgrimage so that I was nearly dry at a real gas station by the TN GA border and tanked up on 96 no ethanol. For regular highway driving I didn't notice a change in mileage or operating characteristics. Perhaps if I had driven like a madman I would have noticed a difference. The comparison is with Costco 93 which is what I usually run.

Washed and waxed.
Hung a highway to highway ramp with a big SUV doing the same. Think it was an escallade with some good tires. Amazing he was almost as fast. I'm either really slowing down or that guy was crazy and had some really good upgrades. He was on the inside lane which has a little more bank but a lot less visibility. Kept an eye in the rear view waiting for him to loose it in a truly spectacular fashion.

Fuzzzy 06-18-2018 08:57 AM

Dragged the undercarriage somewhere rear of the seats while entering a parking lot (that I have been to many times without issue) that had been recently re-done, despite slowing to a crawl. I was hot!

I was even hotter to discover that the other entrance/exit was blocked with a locked gate so I had to leave via the same entrance. I managed to get sideways enough to keep from scraping, but I was still not very happy

That sucks! If it's a steep enough hump getting your diagonally opposing tires to go over the hump at the same time will allow the car to rock over on it rather than strattle it and scrape.

thatguy420 06-18-2018 09:21 AM

Tonight i drove the car on a damp/wet road for the first time around an industrial area.
Yaw sensor disconnected so ya know what I was doing there!
Was so surprised how nicely the car handled once it was not travelling in a straight line!!
Was fun! Just had to tell someone :)

Thanks. That is what I did coming out (and meant to convey by saying I got sideways). I was kind of comitted entering, due to traffic, and had never had a problem there previously. They obviously had made the entrance steeper than in the past. And steeper than necessary imo.

I guess when you live in an area where the vast majority of vehicles are pickups and SUVs, sports cars are just going to take a beating on some road issues :shakes head:
