That’s probably the quickest I’ve heard of someone doing it. I’m guessing you gathered a big selection of extensions and swivel joints for it to go so smooth?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Passenger side is super easy and comes out as one unit. On the driver’s side I had to remove the cat to reach the rear manifold bolt from underneath. Trickiest parts going back were the rear most lower bolts. Tubes turn down too close to get the nut over the stud with the flange fully seated. Had to hand start them as I slid it in place and use an open end wrench to tighten…about 1/8 turn at a time. Not fun. |

Sat replaced spark plugs, and one ignition coil.
Came out in two pieces, Still chasing the stumble at idle or driving. No codes z idles perfect. Over 99k miles plugs, What do you guys think of the plugs? |

I haven't updated in a while.
The new Denso to USCAR adapter for the injector on cylinder 5 definitely fixed the funky idle and unstable AFRs. New manifold gaskets were in order while I was in there as well as 6 new Denso OEM plugs. We re-ran the logging and everything was at least consistent now. We're now starting the Flex Fuel map tune with 93 and getting those logs in. It's very handy living close to a tollway. |
I ordered an ethanol testing kit. EcuTek is reading 17-18% E content from my tank when this is (at least) the third time I've filled up with 93 from close to empty. 15.5 gal of Shell Vpower moved me from 18% to 17.8% ethanol content, so I'm not sure if that's expected from VPower, or if the ECA-2 is reading incorrectly.

That’s interesting. Seb was curious to see if I could get it down to E10 but it’s not looking like my usual station goes that low

Started oil change, forgot I was out of oil filters, will finish tomorrow. Also installed Z1 undershroud and a silicone license plate frame/pad. Bummer that the magnetic oil plug I bought off Amazon warehouse a while ago is wrong size. Oh well, I’ll be using Blackstone oil analysis for the last 3300 miles I put on this oil.

:owned:Washed it and it rained right after...as always

Ethanol content is slowly creeping down, so I'm now using the Z as my primary vehicle when possible. I also ordered a stack of miscellaneous parts to fix some broken or missing items (exhaust hangers, cat brace, battery cover, etc.)
I installed the Zspec strut bar titanium hardware (black). It looks really nice. I also installed the Lasfit LED retrofit for the headlights. combined with the STi lenses I have in the housings already, it's a huge difference in low beam performance. I'm glad I went with that considering I'm not a huge fan of the Morimoto design. Next on the list is a carbon engine cover and cooling plate, as well as a new Sparco 383 and works bell quick release (the latter two items are ordered) |
Went offroading in the Z. Another trip to the body shop :icon17: :crying:
Sudden maneuver, cold tires, bad input. Driver that caused it drove off so I don't really have any recourse except insurance. |
Do you have a dash cam?!
|
Finally got my Thinkware U100 dash cam installed and running this morning :ugh2:

I did receive my NISMO radiator cap today from Japan. Probably the easiest install compared to what I've done lately. |

Got tired of losing the toe setting so I swapped in a set of SPL mid-links. Went with 6” Swift springs in 11K. Did the traction arms while I was under there, too.

I've been driving the Z around, still getting rid of any ethanol left in the tank. If it doesn't go down after that, I might have a bad flex fuel sensor that needs swapping. Damn saddle tank.
Tomorrow I'll install the $300 worth of miscellaneous parts to get rid of rattles and replace broken or missing trim pieces. I needed a break as Monday and Tuesday were spent giving my WRX a massive suspension upgrade. |
Never underestimate the convenience of keeping random hardware in a box. I managed to forget to order a few bolts and nuts, but i had enough lying around get the work done.
- New cat brace installed - Driver side exhaust hanger re-installed. I couldn't do the passenger side as the bolt on that one was stripped. Extracting that requires tools I don't have so I'll deal with that side later. - re-adjusted exhaust system - re-adjusted my diffuser (strategic zip-tie supports until i get around to designing custom ones for the middle portion). - installed new front undertray plastic side pieces. Added appropriate hardware - re-adjusted the undertray positioning now that all of the correct parts are in their place - installed new bumper screws as well as the plastic retaining clip that goes into the fender - tied the washer fluid motor out of the way so it stops knocking against my fender. And the result is now only the rattles from my SPL Endlinks! |
Replaced the test pipe with stock cats today. My ears are thanking me:bowrofl:. Ill post them up for sale once I find out what brand they are.
|
So, my ethanol reading was high because my dash (powered off) was causing the voltage to read higher to the car. Now I just need to order the OBD splitter to verify whether the car reads the correct value when the dash is powered on. Unfortunately I cannot check both at once right now.

Added Z1 Oil Catch Cans.
BTW. I've got red Z1 PCV hoses if anyone wants them. I'm going to clean them up and post in the freebies thread, but I thought I'd mention it here. http://www.the370z.com/members/trees...catch-cans.jpg |

I’m curious how much oil actually collects in the cans in these cars. I’ve heard mixed opinions on if they’re necessary or not Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's considerable after a few oil changes. On my car, one bank would have more sludge than the other. |

Good to know. I’ll consider getting some in the future, especially since being boosted would only makes it worse lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

93 portion of the Flex tune is finished. Now we shall do E85.
|
I’ve been comparing so many different exhaust setups lately, but I just can’t find anything that beats the Motordyne (in my opinion)…about to bite the bullet and start the long wait .

Though I'd go with the MCR crimson titanium if i were insane enough to spend 5K on exhaust. |
