Ok GuyZ and GalZ,

Quick Update: I decided to go ahead with the installation today. I ran into a few minor things that I was documenting as I proceeded, until I got to a show stopper. The wiring harness provided by Morimoto to hook up the DRL's from the Fuse Box by the Battery is way too short! The shorter end that's supposed to go to the Passenger side Light didn't even make it past the Strut Tower Brace, and the longer end that's supposed to go all the way around the front to the Driver's side Light barely made it to the middle of the Radiator area... Hmmm. A quick call to Z1 Motorsports and spoke to Raymond. He did his installation on his Z by splicing a wire into the harness to extend it, but he suggested calling Morimoto as he could not rightly remember the wire gauge. I called Morimoto and talked to their Customer Service Rep... and he tells me they sell Harness Extenders! :gtfo2:....I quickly pointed out to him politely that I just spent $1,400+ on these headlights and that the least he can do is send the extensions to me as this is Morimoto's error not mine, and certainly not Z1 Motorsports :icon14:... and ... he did... :tiphat: So now I am waiting on the Harness Extenders to come in before completing the installation. My Poor Z is in pieces in the Garage...! Dang it :ugh2:!

PS: I did suggest to the Morimoto guy that they should start including these harness extenders in their light kits, and I called Raymond back at Z1 and let him know that Morimoto has these harness extenders.. so now, everyone knows!

Anyways, PICS:

??? Did their engineer have a hot date and forgot to finish the job?
That's pretty poor for something that expensive that is a vehicle specific product.

Ported 350 upper, ported 370 lower and HFC's installed over the weekend. Should provide a nice surge of power!

Extensions are in. They are actually one cable with two extensions in it and it has to be "Skinned" (Very Carefully so as not to damage the wiring insulation of each individual extension). I did plug them into the short harness on the car and they extended to each headlight with plenty of slack left. This worked out good after all. In the first picture, you'll see the Extension Harness Cat#GTR.H044, Ballast Output Extension Cable (40" Long) from Morimoto:

Morimoto's, Final Chapter

6 Attachment(s)
Finally, the Morimoto DRL/LED Headlights are now installed on the car - Properly! Morimoto sent me the Harness extensions needed and I was able to run the wiring properly to each headlight. Notes on the installation that you won't find in any of the other videos or even the Morimoto Instructions that come with these lights:

1. The DRL Harness that comes with the lights from Morimoto is way too short and will need extensions. I called Morimoto and complained and they sent me the wiring harness extensions free. However, the extensions have to be removed carefully from their outer jacket (as they come as a cable) before you can use them: Morimoto Cat #GTR.H044

2. The DRL Harness plugs into the fuse box in the battery compartment with a MICRO ATR Fuse Block. This fused block/plug end needs to have its wire bent at a sharp angle before you plug the fuse end in as there's hardly any room in the Fuse Box. I tried bending the wire AFTER I plugged the fuse block in and I almost bent the pins on the Fuse Block out of shape bad...

3. The Morimoto Instructions state that if you want the Sequential Direction Lights, you need to leave one of the plugs on the light unplugged. NOT TRUE (at least in my case). I had to remove the light off the car after I had installed it to PLUG the plug back in so I can get the Sequential Direction Light. Here's a pic of the plug unplugged (first install)
Attachment 146056

4. The Morimoto Instructions do not reference the fact that you need to take out the bolts from the bottom front of the Nose Cone before it will actually disengage from the car completely.

5. I broke at least 10 plastic clips that I had to replace with new. So make sure you have some extra plastic clips on hand.

6. For all of you OG's, you'll find that this little handy dandy tool will make the world of difference when you're doing this work...
Attachment 146057

7. Re-use the Morimoto boxes and Styrofoam packing to store your original headlights

And FINALLY, "La Piece de la Resistance":

Washed up the Z this evening and storing away for the next couple weeks with the snowfall they’re calling for. Also installed hood struts from Z1 this evening.

I did nothing,as both cars are stored for the winter. The best I can do is get on this website to see what others are doing.

:hello: Any of the OG still left around here? Haha.

Just stopping by to say hello while I check to see if '13 Rays are worth anything, as I need to get rid of mine that have been sitting in the garage for a while.

Quite a bit!

Got a new position at work just as the pandemic hit, got married on Oct 31 2020, got COVID over Xmas (mild, just typical flu-like symptoms), and now looking for a new home (and my current one is basically sold!).

Finding a home is so stressful in this market.

New used seats

1 Attachment(s)
Bought these few days ago. Will go into the 09 at some point.

Spent a couple hours cleaning up the driver seat. Wife has a electric facial brush that she doesn’t use, perfect for scrubbing out dirty leather and the middle insert. Current state, I give it about 90% clean and 65-70% for condition (bolster leather worn and small tears).

They will be restored to 100% when I find a trust worthy restorer.

Is that pic before, after or during cleaning?

After. Left side is the driver seat. The passenger side (head support off) is untouched, but was not nearly as dirty as the driver side.

Hard for phone camera to really capture the details. Driver seat was in semi rough shape. Now, it's in tolerable shape. Subjectively speaking.

Was this the set that was in the FS section? I contemplated picking those up, but with all the travel restrictions and what not, I decided I'd just pass.

No, this set was never listed in the forum. It was local sale.

A few weeks ago I did my cabin air filter and then shortly after I did the Z1 Hood Struts.

Today I was fooling with my dash cam and the battery died. Went and replaced what looked like the original Nissan battery with an Optima yellow top. In the process of swapping that out, found some other friends must have liked my Z too. So I ended up replacing the cabin air filter again.

markesc 02-20-2021 10:37 PM

Spent a few hours with the Sonax and buffer...it's that time again...

It's looking like a multi-day project to get the paint where I want it before some ceramic goes back on it.

AZ = unforgiving!

Zyonara91 03-02-2021 04:00 PM

Checked on the car in the garage today. Rolled the car forward to avoid any flat spots, I do this every two weeks. Battery tender is still working and I checked for any sign of bugs etc. Did sit in the car and man, what a different feeling it is. Compared to everyday commuter cars the seating position, wheel position and even pedals (I know) feel different. Oh, and I shifted through 1 - 6 and the raw mechanical noise that's made "click clunk" is so refreshing, it's like hearing your heart beat in your heats after a crazy workout.

I had about 15 pounds of acorns in there one year.

Pulled OEM heatshield from both headers, ground off the shield mount points, wrapped and re-installed. BP pipes are wrapped, now sitting around waiting for Sasha to send the rest of the kit.

Are you speaking of traditional pro type ceramic coat or a spray on from auto parts store?

Fuzzzy 03-05-2021 11:24 AM

Put my 2022 expiration decal on the license plate. Seven years now, but still seems like yesterday.

Leadfooted 03-05-2021 06:37 PM

Went on the toll road thats seldom used here and did a few pulls to relax and enjoy the Z been a year and change since being on the track and needed a little open road stress relief.

Installed Z1 Aluminum Hubcentric 10mm Wheel Spacers on her today. Just enough to fill out the Wheel Wells without pushing the wheels outside the body. Also, 10mm (or 0.4") is just 0.1" less than how the NISMO wheels sit in the wheel wells. In my mind, this keeps my 370Z within the factory design specs of the suspension. It's also a subtle change so you can see a difference, but just can't tell what was changed - just like I like it.:driving::tiphat:
PS: Had to use the extended studs as recommended by Z1. We tried the 10mm spacers with the stock studs and could only get 4-1/2 turns on the lugs instead of the 5 turns needed...

Good LORD! That was a long winter here in New England. We finally hit some worthy enough weather to unpack the Z's. Primed up the 350, replaced the supercharger oil.. whipped her around for a bit. Put the last ceramic coating on the 370z and dragged her nismo *** around for a bit. Going to be an orgy for the next couple days. .... and more snow coming next week. WTF!

zeeder 03-10-2021 10:23 PM

What did I do today? I bought a Z! So glad to be back!!

BettyZ 03-11-2021 06:47 PM

Had to lift the motor a tad to replace the Z1 poly mounts after one of the lower bolts snapped.

Contacted Z1 for a replacement bolt, as it's M10x1.25x90mm full thread and couldn't find it online or in-store. Z1 said the bolt would take 3 weeks to source and cost $70, and I was better off buying all new mounts...

It's a bit of a setback, but the cost is 2.8% of the total project and that wastage rate is more than acceptable.

As long as I don't pull a Solidus I will be happy.

Of course they did. I hope you didn't give them any more money. Fùck Z1 :gtfo2:

Get the CJM solid mounts. They are awesome and leave lots of room to work!

Looks like Ghost found that bolt: https://www.belmetric.com/10x125-fin...l-p-15889.html. So am I correct in understanding that Z1 wanted $70 for a $1.39 bolt?
