Clam ---- orange and black will look great. It would look great if you have the entire kit.

Sanding and next coat of primer postponed until Monday. Too busy

My stock HU stopped working so I replaced it with a Kenwood unit this weekend. Now I've got the itch to improve it some more, so I ordered some Memphis Audio 2-way speakers and dash tweeters. I'm hoping it sounds decent, but if not I'll order an amp... :-)

I installed the illuminated kick plates following the DYI section.

Picked up my 2010 Nismo from fort Lauderdale Nissan , it had a complete brake overhaul. New rotors, pads , brake fluid flush, mobil 1 syn oil change.
The day before checking the tire pressure ,I noticed the back rotors had deep groves. Fronts very worn too. I always get her serviced at the dealer I guess they underestimated how much brakes were left. They did give me a free loaner ,so that helped. The total price....$1112.00. The most I ever paid for a brake job ,but it is very much like new again :)

From last week, but close enough. Tint 35 done (first car I've owned with tint, stayed conservative for the first round), stock plenum off, and z1 plenum on! Coming along. Next up - Long tube headers, and then finally a tune.

Ordered Z1 poly engine mounts to go with my Z1 poly trans mount. Brake pads from B2autodesigns came in, so I can install my 2 piece rotors this weekend. I also changed out the orange turn signal bulbs in the headlights out for chrome ones like I did in the rear. Looks much cleaner imho.

Yeah about that. I was in the process of doing that when my father decided to distract me and made me burn through the paint. I'm trying to salvage it now.

This was before that happened and I got it out in the sun

Your dad sounds like quite the rascal. Issues aside, looks pretty $#%!ing good. I am probably a long while away from doing this myself, so I am looking forward to seeing how it all holds up.

What paint products did you use?

that flex putty I told you about, duplicolor gray filler primer, automotive touch-up base coat, USC 2k clear coat.

I was able to salvage the job for the most part. One area looks not that great but it'll be covered by my license plate.

Awesome. I have been planning to use exactly those products!!! Any reason you went with the putty flex instead of the flex filler (made by the same company)? Looks like putty flex is meant to be a glaze and not really a filler.

no real reason really. It was closer to bondo which I had previous experience with. I had no problems with using it so I'm happy

I guess y'all haven't had a complete brake job like that yet. These nismos arent a civic. okay I guess you can save doing it yourselves ,which I dont have the means. Price it ,it is normal for the parts ,labor at the dealer. I dont want the headache of some chump doing a crappy job.

In my experience, Dealer = some chump doing a crappy job :eekdance:

Not to mention the outrageous dealer mark ups. What did they charge you for new rotors? I know guys that buy $59 blanks at the local auto parts store to use on the track.

 It's a brake job. A Nismo is no more difficult than a Civic. Parts are just bigger. Sure, DIY is going to save you some $$$. But charging over $1K for a brake job is price gouging :shakes head:

Sway 09-21-2017 08:36 AM

^^^^ $1k for a brake job??? Mine is only going to cost $1,300 and an hour maybe hour and a half of my time... and that includes the price of my brand new Z1 2-piece rotors! :inoutroflpuke:

In all seriousness, anyone can follow a YouTube video and do it themselves. It’s very easy. If you lived near me I’d say I’d teach and help you for a 6 pack :icon17:

zguynate 09-21-2017 11:42 AM

$1k for a brake job is crazy! $550 for rotors, pads, lines, and fluid from Z1. Our brakes are really easy to change as well. All you need is a basic socket set, a breaker bar, and a brake piston compressor tool which is like $10.
