I let the dealer do my last oil change out of convenience since the car was already there, and I think they tried to take off my magnetic drain plug with a sawZall ... I guess they didn't have a 17mm socket laying around the shop :icon14:

Did an oil change yesterday and put on a new magnetic drain plug

I hear ya.... I avoid dealership service departments like fire.

Dude that sucks...I have only taken mine to a dealership on four occasions and they have done me right each time. I should knock on wood, throw salt over my and kill a chicken just to be safe lol!

Last weekend I took a road trip to south florida and cruising steady at 90 or so the oil would temp would level off at a solid 260 - outside temp as reported by the car was only 87 degrees. After I get the car back together Ill do a similar test to see exactly how much better it gets.. but I never had much issue in the summer prior to removing it.

One thing to keep in mind is my car is strictly a street car and doesnt see any kind of track time.

Im in the Northeast - NYC. I have a z1 25 row with the plate ready to go on. Probably will only really be needing it when the outside temps are up there or pushing hard for extended time, which is not the usual. Would you recommend disconnecting the oem cooler or leaving it on ? It would be great if my oil temp doesn't take too long to get warm by the time im on the highway, not so concerned with oil temps getting too hot on for the typical weekend night cruise.

Girlfriend backed into the rear bumper. How much do you think it'll cost to have it repainted? I doubt I'll go through insurance.

I think leaving the OEM cooler on will definitely get your up to temp sooner, a minute or maybe more from a cold start. On the other side of it, I don't really know if it will "fight" your air cooler or not. Do you track? I have settled into the position that, for a street car, the OEM cooler is adequate.

If it were me, I would probably remove the OEM cooler for simplicity sake.

One thing I've always thought about when considering an air cooler (on a street car) is that a relatively minor front fender bender could result in the car pumping all of its oil onto the street relatively quickly. I lived and drove in NYC for 4 years and fender benders seem to be a relatively common occurrence there... Hell, my car got hit a couple of times just parked on the street.

I am not in any way trying to dissuade you from putting on an air cooler, as it definitely does the best job... just explaining why, to this point, I have decided to stick with the OEM cooler even with my turbos. If I tracked I would opt for a huge 72 row cooler like some of the experienced track guys are using.

Hope that helps!

Can you hang a nail on some of the scratches? If no, then they can be polished out. From what I see I only see a couple that look deep.

Yea. It's just a couple deep scratches or chipped paint. Nothing major honestly. Can buff out most. But I can't paint prep myself and want the scratched filled or repainted correctly. It's not enough for an insurance claim, but enough that it'll be a few hundred. Hell, I may just get a knockoff Amuse bumper and have someone paint that.

Adjusted my e-brake and did the 'penny trick' on the hatch springs since my hatch would never open right, both thanks to suggestions from here. Alos dicked around with photoshop on a couple pictures. Stuck on where to go next on this thing. Suggestions?

Read my build thread. That should give you a couple of ideas, and empty your wallet some.

Got my quote done to have the rear bumper repainted. $550 to have the whole rear repainted with a few extra coats so I have less rock chips compared to Nissan's OEM paint. And he is going to shave/fill the rear emblem. No more gaudy chrome Nissan badge.

I agree the emblems are an eye sore... and cheapen the experience given they're also on the Versa, Altima...
I pulled and replaced them within weeks of buying my Z.

Watched idiots waiting in line for gas while I did burnouts and donuts in the nearby parking lot just to try to drive home the point that there isn't actually a gas shortage...

Gonna get the ~Z~ off the jack stands today; as weather is starting to break.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c1d3e2390e.jpg

:iagree: Yesterday my wife and I pulled up to one gas station with only one person in front us who finished as we pulled up. Now I just hope the State goes after the stations that were Price Gouging!!!!:shakes head:

Leingod 09-03-2017 11:33 AM

I live in freaking NY and gas prices sky rocketed yet again because of the geniuses in TX freaking out about shortages. It's up over 38 cents in the past 5 days. Sickening.

Hotrodz 09-03-2017 12:51 PM

It is just plain old fashion price gouging and it is not right! Greed rules even in time of tragedy.

I pulled a Checkmate ski boat with a 1990 240sx. Funny part was getting it out of the water. I would have folks standing at the top of the boat ramp shaking their head. My friend would sit on the front of the boat while I chugged up the ramp. Yes, it was a manual.

Walked past mine 3 times today in the garage. I waxed it before I had surgery.

I was attacked by Love Bugs on the way home. What a pain in the butt they are. Took 30min when I got home to clean them off with a microfiber towel.

I just blew 1200+ smackers on Gen 3 CAI and 34 row cooler from FI. Had a short canyon cruze in 107 heat last weekend and the temp was at 260 when I caught up to the first car. I was thinking WTF, that was fast. Figured I'd do the CAI while I have the bumper off for the Oil Cooler.
