Been working around the yard. I just catching up on the forum.

took the Z out of weekly storage to get the oil running and went to get lotto tickets.

abm89 04-05-2020 05:52 PM

I swapped out my OSRAM Hyper blues for moriomoto 4500K. Driving the daily around with LEDs made me want more lumens vs the color at this point.

I also took the car downtown to drive around and then head back. I don't think im gonna go for the MD Thunder muffler replacements as the car is plenty loud for now haha. i'll be going on a test drive at night to make sure things are aligned properly.

Scheduled an appointment to get my ZSpeed clutch/flywheel/CMAK package installed !!!

Excited for the upgrade and peace of mind to kill the ticking time bomb of the stock CSC

Cheers!

ZontheRocks 04-06-2020 12:28 PM

Ordered a set of Z1 hatch struts and a couple sets of wipers. Was going to throw down on an oil cooler set-up, but I'll just wait until Black Friday deals.

EcuTek tuning package is sitting in a Specialty Z cart until I can squeeze $650 out and not feel bad.

I will say that the stay-at-home order definitely has its advantages when it comes to money saved on entertainment outside of the home. Having no weekend bar/brewery bills sure does "help" with how one decides to spend or save!

BlKsUbYkId 04-06-2020 05:57 PM

Finally replaced my flickering parking LED! But I've been showing more love to my 4Runner lately...

ZontheRocks 04-07-2020 04:12 PM

All this ZSpec talk going around and I went and had to pick myself up a new project. I chose Matte Gunmetal as my color of choice. I like the upgraded look of the bolts but would prefer a more subdued color and no shine.

The red and titanium (neochrome and real $$$) look good though.

Neek 04-07-2020 04:36 PM

Paint corrected and ceramic coated the z the other week (video taken from detailers IG story).

ZSpec came in quick. Got the strut, coolant, power steering, and hatch hardware in. It’s definitely a lot of pieces and making use of the whole kit will take many hours. 4/5 as although the bags are labeled, some pictures with circles would go a long way for the more hidden/obscure hardware.

Also, since I spoke it into the world it had to happen and I ordered an e-tune from SpecialtyZ. Bluetooth module came in with the swiftness and I got the initial ECU info to Sebastian yesterday. I’m looking forward to loading my first tune this week.

Installed intakes, m370 upper intake, oil catch cans and painted parts to dress up engine compartment. Now just to get a tune hopefully soon after quarantine is over.

I am going to try the graphite gaskets on the HFCs tomorrow morning. I think the metal gaskets are too rigid for a warped flange, even with RTV. -_-

This is the last try before I go for LTH.

What is the thickness of the gaskets you're trying/

Measured 1/16th in.

Thinking that you might be better off with 1/8". If the ends of the flanges are touching and gapped in the center. Depending on the gap. The 1/8' should fill up that gap.

I'll check it tomorrow morning. I feel like it should seal as i looked at my old invidia pipes and they are pretty flat themselves.

I still don't regret spending money on the other car now. I basically have an STi without the EJ problems lol.

My gaskets from FI have never leaked. When you start your project. Check the flanges with a straight edge. Lay it on the flange from bolt hole to bolt hole. See how much gap there is under the straight edge in the center. If not too bad. you can hammer the flange flat again. A 12" scale (metal ruler) makes a good straight edge.

Base brakes upgraded with power stop calipers, stoptech slotted rotors, stoptech ss lines and yellow stuff pads. Definite improvement. Decals from etsy.

Nice up grade. But that is a 'bono caliper.

Indeed, but branded as PowerStop.

Delivering supplies to healthcare worker in isolation

What did I do with my Z today? Well, on Good Friday...

Family friend & student nurse, Alanah, was at the end of her hospital placement.

She put herself into isolation for 14 days to protect her family from bringing home the COVID-19 Coronavirus.

Low on supplies, she needed an express delivery. What better way...

The weather was really nice yesterday with 85F and sunny. I checked the HFC flanges and those seem to be the ones giving me trouble, not the headers. I swapped in the graphite style gaskets that fuse the system together, and we'll see if that works better than the Metal ones. If not, I'll just get some LTH and say F all of that noise. (vbands for life).

Drove around the city and got some good mileage in, as well as getting some data logs from ECUtek to check the car. Next on the list is to replace the radiator hoses and do a coolant flush (preventative maintenance).

ZontheRocks 04-13-2020 10:33 AM

Hoping for an email from Seb today. Email sent early Friday PST, but that was Good Friday and led into Easter weekend. Possible to not get anything until Wednesday given the holiday and listed 24-48 hour turnaround. Looking forward to the improved performance.

“I wanna go fast, Pa!”

ZontheRocks 04-13-2020 03:45 PM

Sebastian sent me the canned tune this afternoon and I went ahead and loaded ‘er up. Smooth idle and a few quick logs, but will log more in the evening.

I can definitely tell the difference in throttle input and a noticeable power bump on the 2/3 shift. Good start!

I’m excited to play around some more this evening and learn more about the cars data parameters.

Now to save up for a damn oil cooler.... any part outs coming up?

BettyZ 04-13-2020 05:38 PM

Finished installing the CJM fuel hat, put all the plastics back in, went for a spin. E'erything works, 'uuuude!

No, just remanufactured. Rebuilt, sold under a different name. See it all the time.

What Rusty said. It's an Akebono caliper remanufactured by Cardone or any number of rebuilders out there. I've got all the Cardone part numbers so you can get them from Advance Auto at 1/2 the price of Z1... :wtf2:

Over the past 48hrs I've ordered fortune 500 coilovers, 34 row z1 oil cooler kit with setrab core and thermostatic plate, Hotchkins front swaybar, SPL sway bar endlinks (they cost more than my sway bar:eek:), and Z1 subframe bushing collars. Yeah my wallet absolutely hates me so I'ma chill for a while with the parts but I still need to do the rest of the SPL stuff, intake, and tune.

NismoZ34_4Me 04-20-2020 03:01 PM

I bought rear toe arms, LED 4th brake light and other LED bulbs for taillights. Things I need to do: Remove Nismo fender flares to stop the rubbing.

ZontheRocks 04-20-2020 03:06 PM

Finished the tune with a third finalized version from Sebastian.

I went with the canned tune due to the fact that I only have G3's, ART pipes and Shockwave exhaust. Sebastian sent over the first file, which included the following:

Map 1 - Hot Day
Map 2 - Tuned Map
Map 3 - Valet

I did my own street data logging and sent two data sets for two revisions that he made over a week period. No complaints on my end and I am happy with the results so far (given no dyno comparison before and after).

1/4atatime 04-20-2020 06:54 PM

My Package of stuff from Z1 with my oil cooler and stuff in it was supposed to come today and I got nothing. I have no idea what is going on it said it was on the truck for delivery today. I'll give them till tomorrow and then call.
