Installed a clutch helper spring this past weekend. Nice difference in clutch feel. Only took me 52K miles to try it out.

Also put in an order for a new Motordyne mid-muffler (The Box) for my Shockwave. The shitty JB-weld job I did to fix a crack on my original has been kaput for weeks (as was I was told it would!) and it was time to order the replacement.

That will give me another car thing to do while on lockdown.

DO you know if they ever put that RFL pipe in production (the substitute for the muffler)

Motordyne currently has three replacement options for the mid-muffler, all available on the Z1 website (I can't find them on Motordyne's direct site):

Motordyne Shockwave Resonated Muffler Delete Pipe

Motordyne Shockwave High Flow Resonated Muffler Delete Pipe

Motordyne Shockwave Muffler Delete Pipe

I almost picked up a used Resonated Muffler Delete (1st option I listed), but the price was the same for the replacement Box, so I just stuck with that. I feel like the sound of the original Box is more my style after hearing several sound clips that were posted on the FB groups (which can be found on YouTube).

oh man, this made my day. I've had clearance issues with my new garage (ever so slightly.)

Pressure washer and foam cannon. Soap is whatever is sub $20 on amazon. I think this gallon is duragloss.

Do you cut it down, or use full strength?

Headlight restoration today. I actually thought I had moisture in my headlights as they looked patching/ frosting. I noticed during washing I could actually feel the different texture on the outside.
Anyway bought a kit, wasn’t working that well so just use my DA polisher and with quality car polish, much better results, very happy 😊

abm89 03-29-2020 10:34 PM

Self control broken. I ordered the Exhaust for the WRX, but I went with stainless as a compromise... it's a daily at the end of the day.

RFL pipe will have to wait for the Z. Im not convinced the clearance is worth changing the exhaust note.

ZontheRocks 03-31-2020 01:48 PM

The new Box for my Motordyne Shockwave arrived today. Goal is to have the car up early tomorrow and switch out the old with the new.

The top of the filter was chrome, I painted it wrinkle finish black. The coolant cap was raw aluminum, I painted it wrinkle finish also.

ZontheRocks 04-01-2020 10:46 PM

New Box for the Shockwave was installed today. No issues and fit and finish of the piece was better than the one it replaced. I had picked up my exhaust used and it was my thought that it was one of the older builds. The welds on the new piece looked great, specifically the ones on the muffler itself, which were ground and polished smooth. Again, fit and finish were top notch. No complaints of the old piece, just happy to see that Motordyne has continued to improve on their products over the years.

Best part: exhaust is back to sounding like a true ART pipe + Shockwave monster and my power feels smoother and stronger throughout the power band.

Yesterday I picked up some ARP wheel studs, Hotchkis billet sway bar bushings and MTec clutch springs from a local forum member

Been making me a Covid-19 pure carbon fiber hood. I'm nearly done with the mold. I need to put a reinforcements on the mold, BUT i'm pretty damn excited how this is moving along now.

I ordered my beauty layer of carbon fiber today! "Silver Aluminized Carbon Fiber". The hood will be 4 layers in total, middle two layers will be heavy duty 12k CF. End goal is to have a Sunoco style hood to accomodate my engine (and possible other people's needs).Full information in my build thread (figured I'd pop up for some air in these parts).

The Snap-on 1/2 to 3/8 drive adaptor/36 inch extension along with Snap-on 14mm swivel socket were doing ok but I could tell the 3/8 drive wasn't quite enough. I had a Harbor Freight 3/8 drive impact universal swivel that was in between them and as soon as I put any force on it the thing broke apart (repairable but not able to withstand the demon bolt torque).
Success came from a Snap-on 1/2 drive 14mm impact swivel socket and 1/2 drive Snap-on impact universal swivel along with a smorgasbord of 1/2 extensions and a 24 inch Harbor Freight breaker bar.

Just goes to show what having the right tools can do for you. I didn't even have to lean into it with my body weight and it took all of about 30 second including me getting under the car to make sure the socket was fully seated on the bolt head.

I don't believe you. You had to pay someone to work on your Z. Because you DON'T work on your Z. You just collect parts.

It will for my duel plenum no issue. The issue is getting it designed for the Whipple charger, RJM kit. I think I can get it to work.

- Edit: It can also be used for future LS swap people. Think Holley High Ram.
