Also just to clarify the only vehicles exempt from this would be 1969 and earlier pre federal emissions vehicles (not including 1970-1975 pre cat cars since they were still epa regulated just before converters came out), and PURPOSE BUILT RACE CARS. HINT your car that is now just a racer car is not purpose built it came from the factory as a road car and that is all that matters. If it was EVER a road car it doesnt qualify for exemption.

Also they removed the small manufacturer exemption so lotus cars and the like can no longer be registered in the usa

and, its not even a bill or law, its a regulation being written by bureaucrats who are not beholden to the voters. We need obama out, and if you are thinking of sanders, you can really look forward to this and more rules like it.

Its not about wjo is president and who isnt the epa is useless at this point. China produces more emissions every year than we can reduce in 10. What can the us epa do without going to war on china? Sit down, shut up, and stop trying to look important to the general public even though the entire new mandate (all 700plus pages of it) is only going to reduce us emmisions by 1.3% over the next 10 F'ing years.

Edit: instead of doing nothing about air polutiin except hurting the economy why dont they actually try to fix the water shortages on the western half of the country by i dunno actually increasing our water sources? Desalination plants maybe?

Yeap, the EPA has already hit the Diesel truck mod market. Many folks went out of business. The EPA fined them back into the dark ages. That is why I still have my 2004 truck.

I don't know why you guys are even bothered with this, this will never pass. The industry is too f*cking large for something like this to happen! Do you think they'll shut down all the companies and make unemployment sky rocket?

IF they do their will ALWAYS be some schmuck who will take $50 and pass my car.

it has already been approved it doesn't have to PASS they are the f"ing EPA not congress bro. they hid it in a document about commercial vehicles in order to sneak it through, the period for public review ended in September it just isn't active yet. IT HAS PASSED fool it gets codified on July first with the yearly update to CFR section 40. Only an act from congress running contrary to it, direct action by the president to make the epa change its mind, or a victim of the new regulation bringing a long drawn out legal battle to the supreme court can do anything about it now.

edit: just to clarify it is a regulation not a law so no vote required but it carries the same weight also its not about a schmuck taking 50 bucks to pass your car, good luck getting a turbo kit if they start going after companies that i dunno create ecu software flash utilities like they are talking about doing.

if anyone wants to read how the epa can make regulations without anyone voting on them at all read thishttp://www.epa.gov/laws-regulations/...latory-process

Upon reading some of the details, this only refers to mods that affect smog so it's basically what we already have here in California. Basically onlu CARB mods allowed.
