When I had my Z tuned they asked me if I wanted to keep any fuel efficiency in mine. I think my response was '**** it'.

Most of you will think of this as a downgrade but I'm not too concerned about that, I'm just looking for a more roomy car but fun to drive at the same time. I know this is a biased forum but can you guys input your thoughts on making the switch or if you think there is a better alternative. I plan on modding the car slightly, maybe an exhaust, intake and a tune. Let me know what you guys think, cheers!

i kid. however, these two cars are nothing alike. i love the subies, but they are a daily driver or compromise car. meaning if you daily one, and then climb in to a real sports car on the weekend you will love it. if you get it to replace a real sports car you will likely miss aspects of driving a sports car, and all you will have to make you feel better is a back seat.

I owned a 2015 sti for a few months before it got totalled. It was full stage 2 with only the turbo being stock and that was going to be swapped soon. After loosing it I got my z and loveee it. Sti's are fun and handle great but the z is always more fun for me. Sure the sti was a tad bit faster but my z is still stock and the sti is no fun until you drop a few grand in it plus they are always going go have motor troubles. I watched my buddys sti with a 1 year old short block from subaru blow a ringland on a downshift.

I am actually trying to find a new car after having nightmares with Used BMWs. Had all manner of E30 E24 E28 friends have E46s that are constantly broke. Always fun riding around in a car that if you go to adjust seat or turn on AC the owner goes oh don't bother its broke. I have restored several of these cars and know what it costs to keep them in any kinda order. Plenty of people drive them and do no maintenance. You always see them with no taillights and the headliner falling down and about 3 brands of tires.

I always see alot of talk on the net about OH DONT BUY THAT YOU COULD GET A USED M3. They forget to mention you will spend the difference in a few months keeping it running and then even more in the coming years. I am jaded however.

The STI was on my short list but the EJ is weak and many have blown up stock. Even the guys on the forums will admit the EJ isn't a strong motor until its built... Seems you tune and void your warranty or just get used to replacing your motor under warranty.

If the BRZ had 50-75 more HP it would be no contest.

I am now looking at a Nismo Z. Gotta find one to drive.

I entertained the M2 but looks like is going to be over 55K with any decent options and its 3500LBS .
