I drive slow, and fast, depending on the environment. I'm rarely honked at but often tailgated in neighborhoods and such (where I slow down for kids/pets as well as gravel, potholes, etc.)

I agree that if you care about not ******* up your car and you slow down, screw the people who have a problem with it.

I also agree that if you modify your car to a point of it being unable to effectively navigate the public roads you use, you deserve all the honking, middle fingers, tossed milkshakes and so on that you get. You asked for it, so take it like a man.

my 370Z is 100% stock, yet still the lowest car I have driven thus far. My 07 Z had a bit higher ground clearance and even then I took my time as if my car was lowered (which again compared to most other cars, it was). I don't really modify my cars bc i think they look great the way they came from the factory. i dont want to scrape the bottom of my car bc the idiot behind me doesnt have the patience to wait. my mentality of "they can wait" will not change, as Z1nonly expressed that people should change that mentality. sometimes, when you turn into a place, the dip is so deep that you have no choice but to drive at a turtle's place to not scrape.

If you purposely slow down to the point where you're stopping others and your MINDSET is "f8ck 'em", then you're a d!ck. This isn't about the inequities of life, but if we're going to go there; IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT OTHER PEOPLE DO. If you're stuck behind someone who's turning really slowing across and intersection when the rest of traffic has left them behind; or someone who's texting instead of noticing the light has turned green; or anything where you're being inconvenienced; you are responsible for YOUR behavior. Courtesy starts with you, not the other way around. If everyone was waiting for everyone else to be courteous, this would be an awful place to live, indeed. You don't need to believe in karma, or god, or any sort of supernatural power to do the whole "they'll get what they deserve" nonsense. Just drive like a civilized human being for the sake of it.

If you DO need to do something where it's inconveniencing others, you should go out of your way to inconvenience as few people as possible. That means pulling to the far right if you're going to be entering a steep driveway so others can pass while you take your time. For example, when I back into my driveway it takes ages; but I wait for traffic to clear on my street before I do so. Even IF someone is being a **** and high-beeming you on the expressway, just let them through. Honestly, America is probably the only country I've lived in where the left lane (or right, depending on country) is the defacto passing lane. People will go nuts getting you to move over and make all sorts of obscene gestures. Same thing with escalators. Americans love to take up both lanes of the escalator. Every other country I've been to people stand off to one side so people in a hurry can get past. I digress, the point I'm trying to make is that sometimes you can't help it. And that's ok. The main point is, once again, intent.

As for school busses, old folks, etc. They're a necessary evil. Until obama care rolls out it's real plan to kill all the old people, I think we're stuck with them. In fact, we're going to have more of them than we ever have in the past if statistics are to be believed. School busses and LEOs go back to courtesy. You probably don't want to hit a child crossing the road, it's why those rules are there. You also don't want to hit a LEO as he's rushing to a scene of a crime or needs his donut fix. Because goddamnit he has the 'betis and the donuts help him regulate his thyroid or some such nonsense.

If you were offended by my original post. You likely fit the description of a self entitled sh!t, so I'm not really sorry for you and don't apologize for any of it. May your muffler hang low and drag where you go and your socks always fall to your ankles (seriously, as far as low stakes curses go, that one would be pretty annoying). Generally, people react to things that describe them - it's why you turn around when your name is called. If your name is sheep-****-noodle-fucker who drives a zed and holds up traffic, you can take it up with your parents.

TL;DR - "f8ck 'em"
i, for one, was not offended by your post. after all, everyone is entitled to their opinions and thoughts. the reason why i brought up school buses and LEO's as examples was bc z1nonly expressed his thoughts on the value of time and how other people get to value their time, or something along the lines of that. and with his logic, since i value my time, why would i and the rest of the other people need to accommodate them. again this was just an example according to his logic and of course i would def. stop for a school bus with flashing lights.

It's not that I have never been an inconvenience to others. It's just that I generally don't feel good about myself when I realize that I have done so.
So tell me what is worst. Me taking a few extra seconds to get out of anyone else way (and take care of my vehicle) while going into a driveway or gas station or the ones that hug the left lane on highways and hold traffic just because they don't pay attention, especially when there are big signs that read "Slower vehicles keep right".
If I'm on the road and I'm just going "slow" I stay on the right lanes since I have no business in the left lanes.
I drove yesterday on I95 for a distance of about 65 miles and I was going faster on the far right lane and passing many others since the left lane was being occupied by slower than normal drivers.
Don't feel bad, you pay your taxes and insurance like anyone else. You are entitled to take care of you vehicle and anything that belongs to you. A few extra seconds is not going to hurt anyone, and if the person behind you is so much in a hurry then perhaps they should have planned and managed their time a bit better.

I agree. Read my 2nd line again.

My car is also stock height (NISMO). I have had a regular Z or two as well and they will surely scrape a lot more than a Camry will, though not quite as much as a NISMO. I am not sympathetic to drivers who expect me to take ramps and speed bumps at SUV speeds in the slightest.

On the other hand, I think if you lower your car 2" and high-center on speed bumps and tie up traffic, you're kind if a jerk and deserve the fingers.

Good ol' NY

At least it's not a daily occurrence. Maybe try putting on your blinker and then switching to your hazards as you really slow down to start the turn. I might get dash/rear cams for evidence against anyone who might chose to "bump" you out of the way.

TLDR, idgaf about the guy behind me bitching cause I'm taking a couple seconds longer to angle my car going up in malls or whatever.

Last year I actually had a woman in a white civic tell me to learn how to drive cause I was angling. What a joke.

Not only do people miss the turn signal because of these dicks (even if you're not in a hurry, everyone has felt the frustration of missing one due to the incompetence of another driver), they're also causing an unsafe scenario by purposely going slower than the speed of normal traffic. So no, the behavior is not justified just because your car is precious to you. A little empathy for your fellow driver goes a long way. These are not your private road ways.

I agree on a lot of what you said. My old M3 used to be low but it was not low enough to where i had to go 3mph through dips, nor did i have to angle my car and slowly crawl up driveways/parking lots to the point where it was inconvenient for people behind me. Yes i slowed down but it wasn't always needed and when it was needed i went as fast as i could. If there was a bad street i would take another route but that was if the street had unusually tall speed bumps. For the sake of people behind me and not destroying my car i never went lower.

The problem is that some of the "slammed" and or "hellaflush" folks are begging for attention, good or bad, they seem to bask in it. And those are the inconsiderate types, it's true that some get an air suspension which solves the problem but a lot of the hellaflush ricers don't have an air suspension and they do not seem to mind coming to a full stop and then reversing and repositioning their car if they begin to scrape, they don't seem to mind coming to a full stop around speed bumps and either doing a 180 or trying to strategically position their car as to avoid scrapping.

Just for fun:

Not hellaflush enough, it needs more of a drop and negative camber. After that you will get mad respect

Much thanks!

I've just recently gotten my car lowered on coils. I requested a half inch to an inch of a drop. Which isn't ridiculous, but with the amuse body kit it's a semi nightmare. So yes, occasionally I take my time getting into parking lots or things of that nature. And in those scenarios I believe people should be "considerate" of what's happening.

Have I scraped my bumper or side skirts because I didn't want people to feel like they have to wait? Yes. Did it pain me every time? Yes. Does me scraping my bumper to make them not have to wait an extra 5 seconds make them or me feel better? Probably not. In fact, they're probably thinking one of two things: "That guy's an idiot for lowering his car in this area!" OR "Damn he shouldn't have taken that so quickly!" I can see both points being made very clearly.

Minor under carriage/bumper damage I can somewhat be ok with. Any curb that's going to cause significant problems/damage to my car, I'm going to take with caution, regardless of who's behind me. It's not a "**** them" attitude on my part. Just a....minor inconvenience isn't worth hundreds/thousands of dollars attitude. And if turning into a parking lot slow is causing accidents I can almost guarantee that I won't be receiving that ticket.

I'll post what I posted in another thread the majority of the handling sports cars that we love are low as hell either at the Z's stock height and many of them are longer. If you scraped on a slightly lowered Z or a stock height Z then you would have scraped in a stock vette, insert lamborghini, insert ferrari, insert porsche, insert viper, insert you bought a nismo, etc.

Slammed static is excess but swift spring lowered non-nismo vs a stock height Z is like a stock height Nismo vs a Non-Nismo Z.
