Mine uses about a quart every 3k miles. I fill it to the top line when I change oil and when I change my oil at 3K miles it's at the low line. And an oil analysis each time shows that everything is ok.

10K miles, I'd love to see an oil analysis of that oil.

Who would run that kind of a check?
I want to know too..

Funny how some are very helpful and other just want to rub sh!t in. I never wanted anyone to pat me on the back. I know its my fault and I take full responsibility.

I also dont know if it was 10k miles.. I am guessing. I travel so much, work a lot of hours.. it just kept slipping my mind. I am all over the place. But I do know it wont happen again.

If my car is screwed, I will just buy another one.. but I hope i dont have to go that route.

Here's a helpful tip:

MAINTENANCE:
The maintenance intervals of the following items
can be set or reset for the reminders.
. ENGINE OIL
Select this submenu to set or reset the
distance for changing the engine oil.
. OIL FILTER
Select this submenu to set or reset the
distance for replacing the oil filter.
. TIRE
Select this submenu to set or reset the
distance for replacing tires.
. OTHER
Select this submenu and set or reset the
distance for replacing items other than the
engine oil, oil filter and tires.

You can setup your car (Vehicle Information Display) to tell you when your due for your next oil change. Only takes a couple of minutes and can save you a lot of problems later. Complete information can be found on pages 2-15 through 2-22 of your owners manual.

Thanks!!

My good friend, jiuJitsu student is my mechanic at Nissan. He told me he programmed it to warn me. When I checked my oil, I went into the computer and it was blank. He has programmed it before, but it was as if the computer had no information at all.

If the battery is removed does this get cleared? Anyway, I wont rely on that anymore. I will always check when I gas up and I will start writing down the miles.

I would think so. That may be your issue.

Does anybody know for sure?

If it's not in some sort of NVRAM, I'd think that the setpoints would revert to a set of factory defaults instead of nothing. The current values would probably reset to zero if not in NVRAM. Working on another project or I'd look it up (should be in FSM somewhere).

It does, when I had work done on my audio system everything was reset, from the clock to the rev light.
