I think they'll address it, but not in sync with the book's story line. They already made changes to make Bran's story line more interesting. The surviving Nights Watch traitors and Coldhands meet were suppose to do battle at Crasters. Coldhands leads Bran to the greenseer, so it's a critical character to omit entirely. They also omitted "warging" between Ned Stark's children and their direwolves. Bran is seemingly the only one that can do it so far.

To me it is strange why we haven't seen Coldhands since any actor could play his part, but then again we have seen his ravens. I am just worried that they won't include him since he is one of the most intriguing characters for me.

I also liked when when Arya was semi-warging with Nymeria in the books, so that is a bit disappointing that it isn't included in the show.

since the show is diverging from the books, here is my theory for this week's episode:

( Click to show/hide )
bran wargs into hodor, and hodor/bran breaks free and helps bran, jojen and meera escape before jon shows up. that way they never meet as in the books.

although the preview showed jon et al attacking those at crasters keep, so hodor can't do too much damage (would be nice to see him wreck ****!).

i agree we need to see more warging. definitely been glossed over in the show compared to the books.

I wouldn't say they were diverging...more like reorganizing the scenes. Don't forget, some of the events in the book span months or years, while some span days. I think HBO is trying to keep each storyline at a good pace to keep it interesting.

REAL SPOILER FOR BOOK READERS

HBO inadvertently revealed that the white walker in last episodes, last scene with the baby was the Night's King. If you've read the books, it's a huge spoiler and rules out that Coldhands is the Night's King as some had theorize.

Drex; nailed it!

Great episode, especially the portrayal of Lysa. The show does such a great job of bringing the books to life visually.

If I'm not mistaken, we're not at that part in Arya's story where she starts having the wolf dreams. It's been over a year since I've read the books, but I thought it was after her time with the Hound.

Well, at this point, it doesn't look like we'll see Coldhands after all. The producers are probably hesitant in adding more characters to follow. They also want to create more screen time for major characters. If you think about it, even Dany's character hasn't seen much screen time this season.

I wouldn't object to more screen time for Dany

He would likely pick his brother to fight for him. Then Tywin will have to pick someone either better or worse. Unless of course he willing to kill his one handed son just to be able to kill Tyrion.

Remember, he pulled this "trial by combat" card once before, when he was a prisoner of Lysa in the Vale in an earlier season, and in that occasion it was made apparent that in "trial by combat" the sides can choose champions...

what an episode. i'm enthusiastic for the duel, if they keep with the book.
