I usually watch each new episode twice just to make sure I catch everything, and this was the first episode where I felt a little disappointed after the first viewing. This is mostly due to the bummer ending.

After the second viewing my opinion has changed and see this as a pretty strong episode.

Here are my favorite parts:

1) The scene between Tyrion and Mormont was very satisfying. I am liking that since the story has slowed down that we get to see some good character development such as this, and the relationship between Brienne and Pod.

2) At first I felt that Jaime and Bronn's infiltration of The Water Gardens of Dorne was a bit flimsy and rushed and the fight with the Sand Snakes a bit contrived and unbelievable. After a second viewing things didn't seem so incongruous. I LOVE the Sand Snakes even more when they are all armored up and fighting. Did anyone else notice that Tyene cut Bronn at the last moment of the fight? Has Bronn been poisoned?

3) Littlefinger is making more big moves as usual.

4) They Tyrell inquisition and the subsequent jailing is more strong in the show than in the books. It seems more believable and I am glad that Loras and Lancel are still somewhat main characters.

5) I don't think they could do Arya's story arc any better. Those scenes in the House of Black and White where taken right from my imagination and put on screen.

6) The Sansa/Ramsey/Reek scene was upsetting, but necessary. I have always liked Sansa and it was sad seeing her treated like that. There seems to be a lot of controversy around this, but somehow we have forgotten that poor Theon was tortured and had his weiner chopped off!

Valerian Steel is going to give the white walkers fits! what a battle at the end. Those white walkers are terrifying

StLRedrider 05-31-2015 09:53 PM

I had to watch it twice

Book readers are in "green fields" just like the show watchers, so...

...the White Walker attack on Hardhome was a total and pleasant suprise. On many different levels GOT is setting a new standard for fantasy. It may be controversial, but the bad guys are actual real, bad guys that do terrible things. The Night's King and the entire Hardhome scene certainly reinforced the idea that the White Walkers are a mysterious menace that will be play into the outcome of the game.

Tyrion and Dany's conversation was outstanding!

Jaw dropping to finally see the White Walkers in full action.

As is often the case, I was in the mood to listen to a little Mastodon yesterday after that ever so satisfying GOT episode on Sunday. While perusing the reviews I ran across this: Music on TV: Inside Mastodon’s Epic ‘Game of Thrones’ Cameo - Speakeasy - WSJ

I find this funny since IMO Mastodon to be the musical equivalent of Game of Thrones...epic, complex, brutal... They barely had to find costumes and makeup for these guys.

Plus this just kicks major azz!

So..........

I'm still pretty speechless after last nights episode. Only one word can describe it: Epic.

BlackZeda 06-09-2015 08:48 AM

The episode "The Dance of Dragons" was probably the most brutal with the most disturbing death, but I think a lot of people got a huge payoff when

Drogon showed up to turn the harpies into crispy critters.

GoT is really testing my patience with this season. It almost feels like a burden to watch now. Especially after the key deaths in the past couple episodes, though I guess one was paid off almost immediately this week. Still a great show, just wish it wasn't quite so bleak. Having said that... I wonder if the character that dies at the very end of this week's episode is really gone. With what we know about faith and magic, is that really their fate? I almost wanted the last shot to be of the character blinking once right before cutting to credits. Maybe that's just me though...

I have read about 10 possible outcomes about him
So far from what ive read is we will have to wait till season 12 to see if anything becomes of this

BlackZeda 06-16-2015 08:37 AM

It is hard to say which season of GOT has been the best, but for me five is very much up there. Now the near depression sets in the next couple days knowing that I have to wait for both The Winds of Winter to be published AND the next season. I wonder which one will come to pass first?

I even liked the silly, sexy Sand Snakes...especially Tyene for some reason :yum:

jaytirbhaw 06-16-2015 08:45 AM

I feel like they are dragging the storylines along so as to not surpass the books too much, trying to spoil as little as possible. Its like one big waiting game to see any sort of resolution for the good guys
